How's this for one- You can wear Stormcloak armour and enter Solitude with no penalties.
You can also wear Imperial armour and enter Windhelm with the same results.

That is why Skyrim needs a good faction armor system.

Imperial and Stormcloak guards will actually comment on your armor, but because this is a chaotic land, they also assume that you're just wearing what you can get your hands on.Justice knight wrote:How's this for one- You can wear Stormcloak armour and enter Solitude with no penalties.

I agree. Disguises in Skyrim would be awesome. Killing a guard, hiding his body, taking his armor, putting it on, getting yourself into the guard barracks to kill everyone inside? Sweet.DikaSmausha wrote:That is why Skyrim needs a good faction armor system.

All bandits use common armor ranging from fur to steel plate, how is the game supposed to know if your really disguised as a bandit or not to tell guards how to react?
A disguise system could only really work the the thalmor robes, and guard armors, its not really worth it to make one.
So where is my dream? It is the continuation of reality. But where is my reality? It is at the end of your dream.

Re: Logical inconsistencies in Skyrim
Well, in Skyrim there are already occasional guard comments triggered by certain types of armour/weapons that the PC uses, like Stormcloak/Imperial as MidbossVyers mentioned. I don't think it would be too far-fetched if, in the next game, the type of equipment you use actually affected NPC disposition and trust in any cases where it would apply. That's how I would imagine a faction armour/disguise system working.
Start the groove.

The Dragonborn can also learn Shouts much, much faster than a mere mortal. That's why he/she is needed to kill Alduin. It would take decades for even the Greybeards to learn Dragonrend, and it's against their religion to use harmful Shouts like that anyway. That's why you're needed.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Logical inconsistencies in Skyrim
I'd go further and say Skyrim needs NPC and Faction disposition. With regard to armour/factions, Fallout NV shows it can be done quite well.DikaSmausha wrote:That is why Skyrim needs a good faction armor system.
Even back in Morrowind there was a very simplistic faction disposition - you join Telvanni, you have a lower disposition with NPC Mages guild members.
A legitimate criticism of Skyrim is that the players actions dont really effect how NPCs feel about you. Sure there are rare individual cases tied in with quest actions where you help or hinder individuals and they react differently, but this is not the same as a disposition, which can be raised/lowered and be manipulated through the old illusion spells such as charm.

The potential is in the game, they just don't use it.

Don't know if this one has been mentioned on here, but how come the Greybeards never take Klimmek's supplies out of the chest after Dragonborn delivers them? :/

Aww man! I've been missing out on this great thread!
Reminds me when I used to read GIJoe comics as a kid and readers would send in letters explaining "logical inconsistencies" in the issues. Thus, winning a coveted "no-prize".
Topic: Klimmek's supplies may be overlooked because the Greybeards are too busy writing letters to the Dragonborn. You know how you can skip meals when you're excited about something.
Also, he does go up there every few weeks so maybe they did retrieve the ones you left and Klimmek supplied them again.

Actually htere is a reason to place sawmills on islands in rivers. it is to aide in the transport of logs . . . they float them down the river rather than having to drag them or use beasts of burden :IRanga360 wrote:Well I was in Riverwood just walking around selling stuff and fighting dragons when it all of a sudden dawned on me, the sawmill is on a mini island, not the "mainland"(for the lack of a better word).
It got me thinking why would Beth place it there? It just seems odd because as you can see the sawmill and bridges are made of wood and it would cause a lot of hassle to get logs over the bridges when it wasn't really needed.
Just made this to see if anyone else has noticed any other strange logic errors.

All those fortresses in Bandit hands. No Ruler would tolerate that especially the ones on the main roads.

The "detachment" of guards sent to Riverwood to protect it from dragons is like 3 men.

The scale of most towns is supposed to be like 10 to 1. So proportionally it's probably right. Any more than that you'd almost be sending guards to defend the guards sent just as much as the citizens.Believe wrote:The "detachment" of guards sent to Riverwood to protect it from dragons is like 3 men.

Yes... because having them fall over rapids and waterfalls is such a splendid idea. Re: Logical inconsistencies in Skyrim
A couple more to do with silly NPC AI moments that made me laugh...
An NPC asking a dead enemy I'd just decapitated, "Are you all right?", then even though they'd witnessed ME doing the deed and I was still standing there, "I'll find out who did this."
Three NPC's corpse-checking the same corpse, like they were engaged in some weird "laying on of hands" healing ceremony.
The illogic of Inventory storage: Even when you're naked apart from your underwear, you can still carry all your gear and loot. Logically then, you must be carrying everything IN your underwear. Either your "posing pouch" is WAY bigger on the inside, like Doctor Who's TARDIS, or it's made from cloth with an insanely tight elasticated weave. No wonder your character doesn't speak. If you did, it would be high-pitched near-ultrasonic squeaky.
