thats not a good thing ?

if vampires never need to feed, there isnt any challenge, or any drawbacks to being a vampire

feeding on blood is essential to any vampire story, remove that and its boring

i liked oblivions vampirism more than skyrims, the sun was actually a threat to me, unlike skyrim where it just stops regeneration (but not even completely :P)
It's a good thing from my position, since my vampire still wants to live as normal a life as possible...

Sunlight damage reduces the attributes as well, not just regen.

I handle them the same way I do with bandits, I suppose. If they draw steel or spell, they won't be living for very long.

I handle them the same way I do other people and creatures. I'm like a mirror. If they don't attack me, I don't attack them. If they don't give me a reason to be hostile, I won't. Not every vampire is automatically evil, nor is every mortal automatically good. There has been good vampires in TES series + a vampire character doesn't even have to kill anyone. Yes, they feed on blood but the bite doesn't kill the victim, nor does it really seem to even harm them. Not every vampire has as macabre menu as Harkon's gang in Dawnguard :?
philfredobob wrote:[..]what i loved about vampires in TES is how much of a grey moral area it is , for example , if your Typical ''good guy'' gets vampirism , he has to choose between two ways to live : he can either choose not to feed on people, but in doing so become more and more powerful, hungry, Desperate, and dangerous to the very people he is trying to protect from himself
or he can choose to feed on some folks to keep himself in mortal Guise and continue to live among them peacefully , but still end up drinking their blood and ultimatley harming them
I like the way you put this. So many people in mod communities always complain about the vampirism in TES and how it's "backwards" and you should feed more to become more powerful. I personally always liked their different take on it. I see it working in the way that the mortal blood brings them closer to their humanity while refusing it brings them closer to an undead, closer to being a "monster". However, to get that mortal blood back in their bodies they have to perform a rather inhumane act. It's interesting way to portray vampirism.

^^ Yes, I like those explanations very much. When my elf got vampirism, she only fed on her husband so the others in the college would not attack her. Feeling guilty about drinking Onmund's blood, she then let the hunger rage. The cure meant she had to do something pretty gruesome to an innocent person. Whatever. The worst part is that
Spoiler:
she now has another person's soul instead of her own.
So, has anyone been attacked by vampire assassins before? My Dark Brotherhood character was attacked by a flock of vampire assassins that carried a note for her life. She was proud to read that she was considered extremely dangerous, and the note was right:

This is what happens to vampires when they cross Dohvakiin's path.

i always thought that the Soul Gem you use during the Vampirism cure quest was simply used to ''Purify'' your soul, because you are Dovahkiin, born with the soul of a dragon and body of a Mortal, so if it replaced your soul, how could you be considered a dragonborn? how could you shout ? ... just something i found a bit confusing :P

I hated how Skyrim did vampires. Morrowind and Oblivion did them so well. I haven't played Dawnguard so I'm not sure if it makes things better or worse. Vampires shouldn't be able to go out during the day.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

I would say Dawnguard made it worse, since it lowered the amount of weaknesses Vampires have (though it did lower there bonuses too)

for example instead of 100% weakness to fire, they only get 50% at stage 4 vampirism

i too was not impressed with the way Skyrim did its vampires, the sun wasnt enough of an obstacle, it wasnt that big of a problem

however i did enjoy Dawnguard very much

Vampires could go out during the day in Oblivion. Drink some blood, and you were good. No, Dawnguard makes vampires stronger. Also, they are different, because they aren't the same type of vampire. The Order in Cyrodiil. The Volkhair in Skyrim. They will not have the same weaknesses and powers.
