Maybe instead of post count we can assign ranks to people by how many friends they have on the forum.

@Mars: I like you, Mars. Quite a bit.

@Avron: I've missed you. This was actually a rather veiled attempt at a discussion thread. I knew someone would question the concept of popularity, and I stretched the term to include "number of friends" simply because I knew it was a bit of a contentious definition.

I have eight or nine close friends, but have people I would still consider friends even though I may not talk to them that much. There's one hundred and fifty people in my school year and I'd say I get along fairly well with them all except for one or two. Saying this I wouldn't consider myself really popular I just generally get along well with everyone.

On the forums I rarely post in the General banter section and rarely talk out of character in roleplays, so I haven't really got to know you's well enough yet.

Facebook says I have 258 friends and I know them all IRL.

I have my friends and it makes no difference as to who might dislike or not dislike me, I try not to be offensive I but I feel like I've failed at that many times

Irl friends? My social life is virtually non-existant. Though people I've never met greet me by name at school for some reason.. I guess I'm some kind of obscure legend or something.

E-friends? Well, people seem to enjoy my jokes and all, but I don't really think I have any super close friends.

Mmm, using a strong version of the word like, there are maybe ten... fifteen if I'm being generous, and including inactives. Almost half of that tenacious ten never leave the ES sections, though. The only criterion I have is the quality of posted content, whether in terms of the posts being funny, informative, or thought-provoking.

If a poster kept a high average of humor, helpfullness, and challenging thoughts, well, they'd be the best poster. The kind of member that keeps you clicking that yooieaespie bookmark button. Andere, say, whose every post is a gem of one color or another.

I think I can count on one hand how many close friends I have, and even then, I don't talk with them a lot, unless they text me first, or we're in the same room talking about whatever.
I have other friends that I only see in class, and I don't talk with them much.
Then there are people who know me just because of my long hair, who I've never seen before.

Here, I don't have any friends, since I hardly post. I prefer talking to people in real life than online, so I'm just a lurker on every forum I visit.

I don't have any friends but I'm close to some of my family, I know that sounds lame but it's just that I personally stopped trying to make friends after High school for some reason and never stayed in touch with any from back then either. I wouldn't mind having friends but they aren't as important as family for me so I don't really bother. I use forums such as this if I am feeling lonely and it tends to help me feel connected I guess you could say.

I'm by no means depressed or anything, I actually like the seclusion where I live for some reason, it's calming you know? I would love to have people that I could invite over to drink a few beers with and play video games or go fishing with but I haven't met a person I could do that with yet in my life.

When it comes to dating it's kind of the same, it's not much of a priority and I actually avoid it to an extent for financial reasons, I wouldn't mind having a casual girlfriend that I could go on dates with when me and her feel like it (say once a week or every other week) but I don't think I could stand having to call/text the person every day or go on dates daily, etc... that would drive me crazy, I don't even own a phone lol!

I guess you could say I'm a 23 year old hermit?

@Believe Yeah, whenever I drink I become excessively social, I used to live in a small town in Colorado called Woodland Park and would get wasted every weekend at the bar and would occasionally even attempt Karaoke but nobody laughed because everyone was usually as drunk as me lol! Plus, I get waaaayyyy too friendly when drunk if you know what I mean?

Ummm well I'd say I'm pretty popular around my area. I have roughly 8-10 really close friends, and numerous friends that I just regularly talk to. I dunno though what you'd consider friends though... Like I know a lot of people on Facebook who friend request people who are just acquainted with each other, but I find that pretty ridiculous. I really just friend people who I'm... Well, friends with.

As for social situations, I guess people consider me naive and optimistic. I'm pretty outgoing.

And if you've ever met me on chat, you'd know I'm friends with everyone
