Right-Hand-Of-Sithis wrote:I'm going to give this a leftist spin. Hope nobody minds.

Racism is a tool used by the ruling class to divide the people and stop them from raising in arms against them.

Albeit, I suppose the Stormcloaks are the ones waging the class war (Nordic Aristocracy v Imperial Aristocracy), and there is no evidence the Imperials are overly racist.

I also think it is worth noting that there is no evidence that the Stormcloaks, as a political faction, explicitly endorse racism. Riften and Dawnstar aren't racist.
I think a large part of the Imperial force is located in Solitude and while they seem less directly racist, there is a clear gap in class between the rich and the poor that is most evident in Solitude. Even a gap between Solitude and the rest of Skyrim too. I think while not being racist based on race, the citizens of Solitude are unkind and discriminatory to the poor. The begger in Solitude tells you at the wedding he is happy no-one has tried to arrest him and he as got food for the first time in a month. Mean while in Riften (Stormcloak territory) there is the guy that own the fishing business who is often giving handouts to the poor.
Again, yes, that's not racism. however, it is a clear unequal distribution of resources. I don't expect the Stormcloaks to fix that problem. And I won't go into all the socialist revolution etc etc, as I don't think anyone wants to hear it.

Also, if by help you run this thread, do you mean participate and start conversation? I can do that, as long as the conversation is interesting.

In fact, I have a few topic for conversation now if you are interested, for example:

1. What should be our (Stormclaoks) next move following the revolution?

2. What is the best way to combat the Thalmor?

3. Should we endorse magic?

magic is a perfectly normal tool to use, why be afraid of it when we can use it to our advantage. Restoration heals and cure the wounded, conjuration magic if used correctly provided our soldiers with faithful allies in battle, illusion magic disillusions our foes and gives out men confidence, destruction magic provides an extra edge in battle, Alteration bends the world around us to our advantage. What's the point in not experimenting with magic?

My thoughts exactly, except many Stormcloaks are opposed to magic.

Wulfharf, High King of Skyrim and Dragonborn, was a Altmoran Battlemage. So why would I be ashamed of being the group Battlemage?

1. I would say that we should rebuild Skyrim's infrastructure and start focusing on an invasion force which will require much resources.
2. Blitzcreig. A sudden attack without warning is highly effective. We should also try to establish communication with the Psijic Order. Their cooperation could be the difference between a successful invasion and a failed one. We know that they are enemies of the thalmor, and it is not too far-fetched to assume that they would assist us.
3. Fight fire with fire. Almost literally. Magic is highly versatile. We could make use of healers, conjurers, battlemages, illusionists, and just about any one else. That is why I suggested to try to get the Psijics to help, because they have defeated an invasion force before, so they should be able to destroy the occupational force as well.

Education on magic would be neccesary, as would a formal training of the entire force. It should be as strong as possible. Maybe even try to ally ourselves with dragons. Fire raining from the sky should be enough to break the thalmors morale.

what makes you think the Psijic's will help us, if anything they would back the thalmor when it comes to magic use, we shouldn't be invading anyone either. We need to build up defenses and as much as as I hate to say this build a friendly relationship with certain imperial elements, perhaps a few unscrupulous nobles who like the sound of clinking gold

As to why the Psijics would help us, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And it will be an invasion, that what taking it to the thalmor means.
The infrastructure I mention would include defences. It would be foolish to think that they would counter-attack.

an invasion would most unfeasible, we'd need to the support of High Rock, Hammerfell and Cyrodiil, two of those provinces are imperial and the Empire isn't too pleased with our existence to begin with. Now regarding the Psijic's, they would support the thalmor because they believe magic is to be used by an elite few rather than a common majority, also we're mostly nords. The Psijic order isn't going to support a newly established rebellion because they hate the thalmor

Hmm. I was sort of suggesting we discuss one specific one in depth. but okay.

Of course strengthening Skyrim is necessary, and we should begin that immediately (in fact, Ulfric does). However, I think that is is very important to, if it has not already happened, to instigate a revolution in Bruma, or annex it. If we are to hold out against the Imperials, and in the long run, the thalmor, we need to have it as a Bulwark. It is easily defended, and will secure Pale Pass.

At the same, time, I have long been supporting relations with Hammerfell and High Rock. We must immediately enter into discussions with these states (while High Rock may prove to be a bit disunited). Of course, there is no guarantee that High Rock will abandon the Empire immediately (give it a while, and it will collapse), and Luah's journal implies that the Redguards may have a grudge against the Stormcloaks. However, it is essential to bring these two states in league with Skyrim.

And indeed, a Blitzkrieg would work well, but is it possible? For starters, we may want to make a stronger economy and infrastructure before even thinking of advancing on the Dominion, so we cant just rush in now and strike. And also, remember, Hitler had access to mechanised infantry tanks and an air force. However, I suppose we can recreate this:

1. All infantry have a horse, so as to rush to the battlefield and strike.

2. If we can train mammoths, and adapt them to warmer climates, we may be able to not only recreate tanks, but also use some of the tactics used by Hannibal and Pyrrhus (albeit, if they start to run amok, like at Zama, we will have a real problem on our hands)

3. Dragons make a decent airforce.

Furthermore, we can't just rush into Valenwood and Elsweyr. The inhabitants of these lands will not look kindly on a sudden invasion of their lands, and they are masters of guerrilla warfare. Not to mention, if the Bosmer feel especially threatened, they will, unwillingly, begin the Wild Hunt. We need to make alliances with Bosmer and Khajiit resistance movements. By doing this, we can weaken the thalmor and open a gateway into the dominion, hopefully without fear of starting a guerrilla war 9however, thalmor loyalists almost definatly will begin one, and we will need to be prepared for that).

The thing about the Psijics is that they will not help the thalmor. Worst case scenario is they dont do anything at all. Best case is they actively help us. Reality would be somewhere in the middle.

As far as invasion, im not talking about right now nor anytime in the near future. Skyrim isnt ready for that yet. I dont even think we would have to invade valenwood or elsweyr, once the thalmor seat of power has fallen, disorganization would set in.

I want to become part of this!

Because I am a true Nord, simple as that, but here is the survey:
Spoiler:
1. Why did you choose to side with the Stormcloaks?
The Nords of Skyrim have taken lived in the Fatherland for four thousand years, and they don't want to be used as a colony of Cyrodiil. Could you blame them?

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Stormcloak or Stormcloak supporter?

In general, any Stormcloak with a dead Legoinary at their feet, so mostly Galmar Stone-Fist.

3. What do you make/think of the Markarth Incident?

It's a shame, they would of have good allies in protecting Skyrim. Though, it is good to know that the reward to his people was great.

4. What are your feelings towards the White-Gold Concordat and ultimately the surrender of the Empire that ended the great war?

Frustrates me, greatly. It took out the worship of Talos, because the Empire surrendered. The Empire Ulfiric knew never surrendered.

5. Do you hate elves/outsiders?

As long as they stay out of Sovngarde... ah who am I kidding. I played as a Bosmer, once. That is it.

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Stormcloak character (roleplaying-wise)?

When I am payed for my duties, I will return my money to Windhelm, sticking it somewhere in the palace.

7. What is your favourite Stormcloak related quote?

"Your blood... Is such a pretty shade of red!" the one and only: Galmar

8. Do you think an independent Skyrim under Ulfric would be stronger than one united with the Empire?

100% yes! Take out the Empire and all of the Nords will be loyal to Skyrim, worshiping Talos, and knowing a strong afterlife awaits them. The Empire has nothing like that, just the cruel harsh facts of Oblivion's depths.

9. Have you ever completed the Imperial side of the civil war?

One and a half, I wasn't able to kill Ulfric, and the second time I couldn't even watch him die, so I started my whole game over.

10. If you talked to Torygg in Sovngarde during the quest "Sovngarde" what did you make of his words and how it related to Ulfric?

I believe that Ulfric is not a coward. Torygg is just to ashamed of himself for dying like that. It is remarkable for a Nord to be able to learn the ways of the voice, not savage.

I would have to agree with Bredmaster, they are most likely at Elsweyr, but why Valenwood?

The best course of action is to boost our defenses and research in magic as a support tool for the Stormcloak armies, we should also buy out some nobles in the empire they'll be extremely helpful in dealing with the legion

The only problem in asking for the Psijiics aid is that you will be planning to invade Alinor, which the Psijiic order protects in times of peril. So.... unless you just want to secure your borders it would not be a good idea.

Well when driving into their homeland i dont think soldiers would really care who was who if you get my meaning. They would do the things the altmer did, pillage, burn and rape and it would all be going well until some blinding light falls from the sky and turns them all to ashes. Now if the common altmer were out of harms way then im sure they would even assist you in destroying the thalmor.

Yes, but after Skyrim declares independence, the Empire will collapse. Skyrim is quite literally the only thing that is keeping the Empire together. With it gone, the communications between High Rock and Cyrodiil will virtually collapse (causing High Rock to return to its traditional feudal state). The Legion will not be able to keep itself together when the Empire collapses.

Also, to make it clear, I'm talking about when we eventually do attack the Dominion. Like, after we've built up our forces etc etc.

Hell yeah, sign me up.

Here's my survey.
Spoiler:
1. Why did you choose to side with the Stormcloaks? Because I'm a sucker for rebellions, and hey, religious freedom for the win.

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Stormcloak or Stormcloak supporter? Ulfric himself, though Galmar's pretty awesome.

3. What do you make/think of the Markarth Incident? No comment, since reports vary.

4. What are your feelings towards the White-Gold Concordat and ultimately the surrender of the Empire that ended the great war? I can understand why the empire did it. But in the end, the W-GC is completely asinine. It needs to be stopped.

5. Do you hate elves/outsiders? Being a Breton myself, no.

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Stormcloak character (roleplaying-wise)? Not necessarily. It depends on the character.

7. What is your favourite Stormcloak related quote? No comment.

8. Do you think an independent Skyrim under Ulfric would be stronger than one united with the Empire? I think that either would have trouble with the Thalmor regardless. Either way, it's all up to if they have the dragonborn on their side.

9. Have you ever completed the Imperial side of the civil war? Yes I have, and Tullius is a disrespectful jerk.

10. If you talked to Torygg in Sovngarde during the quest "Sovngarde" what did you make of his words and how it related to Ulfric? The fact that Torygg is in Sovngarde in the first place probably means he died with honor. He took it like a man.
