Angry about Dawnguard?

Post by Tiber-Septim »

So I just found out that Dawnguard has been released for PC which leaves us PS3 users haunted by the fact that we are missing out on all the fun. According to the main page PS3 has to wait because of performance issues. What performance issues? How long do we have to wait? Is anybody else confused and angry? What are your thoughts?

I assume they mean, the bug that makes time collapse. That would be the only thing that would make our experience "worse".

I've been patiently waiting for over a month for this dlc. I'm losing my patience and sanity.

At this point, I only want to see if Serana is worth all the petitions. I could care less about, the sun and Falmer.

She is pretty hot, and does move around, and use hand gestures, and actually emote at times.

I just got Dawnguard today, but I really do sympathise with the PS3 folk, it should have been released on the 27th - one month after Xbox as was their agreement with Microsoft. They have had an entire month to sort out these issues.
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

'Performance Issues'

What, this is the first time Ed has ever heard of a developer having issues with a console that sports the most powerful CPU of it's time.

Ed knows the real issue is the squalid amount of RAM, but seriously, a big developer like Bethesda shouldn't be this incompetent.

Either that or it's just a silly scapegoat for another reason.

I really dont see it as incompetence. Its a fault of the ps3 itself, not Bethesdas. And ive heard of a lot of games that had issues with the ps3, including games originally made to work for the ps3

A console that can't play it's predeccesors games, can't really blame game developers for it's "issues".

Yes, I know that some (the early versions I think) CAN play PS1/PS2 games, but they seem to be rare, and far apart these days.

A PS3 that can't run Gran Turismo 1, is definitely going to have problems running more advanced games.

(This may or may not be relevant, I just couldnt resist having a jab at PS3's. Seriously, the damn thing looks like a Toasted Sandwich Maker :P )

The original PS3 were fully backward compatible and had 4 usb ports, when they upped the HD from 50Gb to 80 Gb, Sony decided to remove these features. I ended up going back to my PS2 as a result. Honestly Tiber-Septim I wouldn't worry too much, I didn't find Dawnguard to be that spectacular and it is way to expensive you might as well wait for the GOTY version.

Sony removed backwards compatiblity from newer models of ps3 not because it couldnt handle it , you still can buy them on ps store and they work perfectly fine.
Personly i realy dont care any more, especialy if i need to pay 20 euros, or more, for game that will be so bugy that it will blow up my console, if they can not give ps 3 even actual patch i dont belive they are able to give us working DLC

It's odd, some developers love the PS3 for it's capabilities, while others hate it.

Perhaps it lies on what part of it's hardware you focus on. On one hand it's 8 core CPU can make for some pretty CPU intensive games, yet it's tiny RAM leaves it's lacking in the texture department.

Still... Bethy should be able to optimise their game enough to run efficiently on it.

I can still play Final Fantasy VII on it so I don't care. The newer ones still play PS games, and I already have a PS II.

Two things: The PS3 has issues. And/or MicroSoft paid Bethesda to hold the DLC.
I'm just assuming, of course.

And I'm not angry about Dawnguard. Just upset. I don't have Xbox LIVE. Shitty internet is shitty....

This is not Bethy's problem. The PS3 is hard to work with, it's been proven many times. Yes, it has the "better" processor, but its GPU and odd RAM setup is what has caused all of the problems with the PS3 version of Skyrim. I know PS3 players will eventually get Dawnguard, but it will take longer. At its core the Xbox is a low-spec'd PC, and therefore is easy to develop for, even easier than the PC perhaps, because of the standardized hardware.

Yeah sorry but ps3 hard to code? [&@%!] if you are big company like Bethesda and decide to relese game on Ps3 i can expect from them to know how to use it. Also this is not case of simple ps3 players are whine because they need to wait, we don't even have current version of patch and by time it will come out there will already be patch1.8 for Xbox

Woah! Let's not turn this thread into a PS3 - Xbox 360 war as we all know deep down that PS3 will prevail!

Any ideas on when this dlc will be released for PS3?

Calm down, the patch has already been submitted to Sony for review. Also the PS3 is hard to code for. That is why the PS4 will be made of parts similar to regular PC from now on. Also the dlc will comeout, and it better come at a discount. Because if it doesn't, I will not buy another Bethesda game, you know before thinking about and disiding Bethesda games rule.

What a thing to say in a thread that is fully about how crap PS3's are...

You Sir, just made my day. That was the most hilarious thing I've read so far.

(I don't think it was intentional. Hell, for all I know, you were joking. But it still made me laugh.)
