There's tons of them for F3. I generally recommended watching Gopher's Vids on F3 mods, for a good base. You can add more mods that suit the way you want to play later.

Most of the Mods there, plus the RH Iron sights mod, are Must have for me.

Fallout Mod Manager, DarnfiedUI, and Fallout Wanderer's Edition are the big ones.

Mart's Mutant Mod and WeaponModKits are also popular mods for extra content. Lots of the stuff in these mods, e.g. FWE, ModKits, reappear as standard features in New Vegas. Whodathunkit?

I'm hoping that will continue and Fallout 4 will take a heavy influence from mods like Project Nevada. It's great to see an action RPG that actually keeps to the second part in a world where being able to upgrade your guns pretty much gets you the RPG label, but it would be nice if you also tried the action part out Bethesda.

As much as removing turn-based everything is very very much a step in the right direction, there's still too much of a reliance on that god-awful V.A.T.S system and combat is fairly clunky and dull. I understand why V.A.T.S has to exist as getting rid of Agility and AP would tick off the Interplay fanboys even more, but I say just assign AP to bullet time, sprinting and other fun little combat tools like Project Nevada did. Manually picking off a Raider's head in slow-mo is far more entertaining than letting the system do it for you in V.A.T.S, believe me.

I've never heard of this before but it looks amazing. Kind of how I imagined the gunplay would be way back when I first saw they were making Fallout 3.

I hate how they just left Fallout Wanderer's edition as it is >_> It's pretty much the Beta for Project Nevada.

Yep. Can't go wrong with that modder team: eh overhauls Fallouts and doesn't afraid of anything.

You know, FWE has some interesting features PN missed out on. Balanced motorcycle alternate fast travel option. Amazing drug visuals. Book perk system. I even like the uberharsh injury treatment. Of course, PN has the cyberware system, which is all kinds of cool. I guess each is awesome in its own way.

Replacing Vats with bullet time would be a smart move. Vats is terrible.

There was originally a plan to offer an option that changed the player's appearance based on the kind of implants they had installed but it was dropped for being too difficult to implement. I'd just like everyone to imagine the sheer coolness that being a Terminator capable of entering bullet time would have offered.

Does anyone know of a good wiki for Fallout: New Vegas like our UESP i need to work out how to get through the artillery that the boomers send up. The walkthrough on the quest in the Vault is useless they don't even give you an idea of how to do it.

You could use my method: turn left as soon as you enter the firing range, hug the left hand mountains and make a beeline mad dash straight down to the fence. A couple of stimpaks and a few crippled limbs later, and you're there. I would recommend having companions wait back on the road though, if playing on hardcore.

I would say take the train tunnel that needs 100 lockpick to unlock. It is shown on your map. When you come out go right and you should be safe.

Well, targeted shots have been part of the fallout world since Fallout 1, as with agility and action points. Personally I don't use VATS (though I use targeted shots very often in FO1 & 2) and I do agree that bullet time is more fun, but this is fallout and not max payne. I'm not sure if I see the difference between saying fallout should have bullet time instead of VATS and that max payne should have VATS instead of bullet time - they're simply different game worlds. While it would make sense for character traits like small guns to level with use like they do in TES, that's simply a different game and way of doing things (fallout uses XP for level progression)

I say: when combat is initiated, time should stop. Each character has a number of action points, and they get to spend theirs (or not, for an armor / dodging bonus) one character at a time - the order determined by an attribute Sequence. Each movement of x amount of feet should consume an action point. Firing or reloading a weapon should consume a number of action points based on the weapon and character traits. Firing/swinging at and hitting an enemy while in standard view should mean that the enemy gets hit in a random location on their body (assuming the target doesn't successfully dodge the shot, based on SPECIAL agility and potential action points forfeited in a previous turn, or that you don't miss - based on your related skill such as small guns). If you want to target the shot, use the VATS feature of your pipboy. Ideally, your pip boy would read out the damage you do to opponents, and where you hit them. Once combat is finished, either by defeating your opponents or hiding from them, real-time gameplay should resume :D :D

I'm going to have to disagree very strongly there. I don't think there's anything I hate more than turn-based combat. It is literally the only thing I've ever encountered in an otherwise good game that makes it completely unbearable to play, Fallout and KOTOR being the examples I can most easily put forward.

I just had the strangest idea of a Fallout/King of the Hill crossover.

I'm honestly thinking about how it would work.

Boston would be cool. NYC has been done by so many people in so many medias that I now instictively fall asleep at it's iconic skyline.

Mehh, I guess. At least Boston would be more 'destroyed' if you like, because it's on the east coast, where most of the damage was done.

New Vegas wasn't 'wasteland' enough for me.

I was hoping more for a declaration of 'Tactics was all lies, we're setting 4 in Chicago' but Boston's a pretty good setting too. At least it'll make things less convoluted when they inevitably shoehorn the BoS in there somewhere.
