missing the point doros. if its illegal, then what is the imperative to do something you know could potentially ruin your life?
no logic to be found there. makes no sense. if it weren't addictive people wouldn't make up all these stupid excuses trying to justify and rationalize it.
So, to you, might makes right? Powerful coercive entity threatens you with harm if you act against it's wishes; ensuing aggression ruins your life, you've only got yourself to blame. Am I understanding your position correctly?
DorostheConqueror...you are misunderstanding me. I should stop right here...
Famous last words...
Drugs make people do bad [&@%!] because it clouds their judgement. Can't argue with that.
I can, and I will. Who says drugs make people do bad ampersand-at-percent-exclamationmark? When we're talking about sweeping policy and a huge class of wildly varied substances, anecdotal evidence just isn't very convincing. The vast majority of
my anecdotal evidence is pretty benign. And even if we are to believe that drugs make people act "irrationally", who's to say that's necessarily a bad thing? Truly rational actions are, after all, often pretty dicky (why would I want to donate to charity, from a strictly rational standpoint?). Plus, you can't overstate the importance of a good lapse of judgement now and then; alcohol, for example, has probably resulted in more marriages, relationships, and pregnancies than any other factor in the history of mankind. Speed fuels America's grad schools, opium gave us all the literature worth reading from the Victorian era, and what would a rave be with E? Oh no! Removing inhibitions and letting strung-out people relax is SOOOOO BAD, better ban drugs and throw the junkies in the klink!
