The irony is both have to do with light, dawn and a hearth/fire.

My guess is it is for a facebook game.

I read some fascinating comments today, on a youtube video no less, that have since been taken down (the video was supposedly footage from dawnguard, looked very legit.). Anyway, whether this is something that's remotely close to what will happen, or just some fanboy's wet dream, I thought it was cool enough that I actually decided to stop lurking and share:

(Disclaimer - this is based on what I remember reading from comments on a video that has since been deleted, I don't claim that they're accurate at all, but it's decent speculation)
  • Hearthfire is the 2nd DLC of Skyrim, due out in September 2012 (Hearthfire being the TES equivalent of September)
  • Story focus is on the war against the Thalmor. The first quest of Heart Fire steers the player towards the civil war questline, and doesn't pick up again until the end of the civil war.
  • Players can now wield Spears in combat (just like what was seen in the DICE video), Spears will have their own skill perk tree.
  • Dragon Souls will become a type of currency, with some NPCs even able to trade a number of Dragon Souls in exchange for resetting your perks.
  • Sidequests in the DLC hint at a possible expedition to Atmora in the future. There are NPCs who belong to the Atmoran Dragon Cult who are plotting to bring something monstrous from across the sea.

It was put forth way better in what I read. It doesn't *quite* sound legitimate to me, but like I said it's decent speculation. I could see the spears thing for sure, as so much from the DICE video has already been implemented.

I don't see why they would make a new tree exclusively for spears. It'd be easy to integrate into the existing 2-handed one like they did with crossbows and Archery.

Dragon Souls as currency? Bull. Crap.

Just another possibility, in the book, The five songs of king wulfharth, in the third "song" it talks about the Fires of his pyre reaching the hearth of Kyne itself. Most definitely nothing, but posable...

The Atmoran Dragon Cult was supposed to be benign, and Atmora is supposed to currently be inhospitable.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Sorry about the necro, but I was just about to make another topic about the same thing.

There are a lot of decent ideas in here. And even some theories about the first ESO DLC. My question is, why would they be making their first DLC if they havent even finished that game. A more realistic theory is that its the name of FO4, which I can almost guarantee isnt the case. As for Skyrim DLC (which makes the most sense), here are a few ideas and their likelyhood [good, medium, slim]

- An event happened on a date in Hearthfire and it is still a mystery as to what exactly happened. Examples include town disappearing, assassination of a prominent figure, something stolen, a ship disappeared...etc the possibilities for detective work are endless. [good]
- They add seasons and events respective to RL seasons (like the simpsons and a few other games have holiday events and exclusives) which would bring the seasonal foliage and would suggest an August release date. [slim]
- Hearthfire is a metaphor that represents a gathering place or perhaps even a player home/ kingdom or perhaps even origins. With Atmora being the origins of the Nords I suppose that a hearthfire would be extremely important. [medium]
- Perhaps means nothing at all. The DLC could have nothing to do with the title. [slim]
- Akaviir. They too have history in Skyrim, but they havent been mentioned beyond the blades. We wont go their most likely, and they wont invade, but perhaps a group will find you to protect you from something, just like the original blades. [medium/slim]
-Something giant related. Especially if you go back to the remnants of Atmora. [medium/slim]
-An ancient magic that is brought out from within ones own hearthfire.[microscopic]
- A deadric realm that could use a hearthfire (coldharbor) or perhaps an Aedra quest [slim only because its a remix of what they did in Oblivion]
-Something relating to Dragons, where they are first conceived and where their power stems from. This could tie in with Akatosh just like DG did and have extreme potential as an ultimate dragonslayer/ dragonsaviour questline. [good]
-Aetherius itself as a destination. This game seems to enjoy different aspects of heaven and death. Soul Cairn, Sovengarde, the Void, Nightingales, Hircine, Dragon Priests, disappearence of the dwarves, immortality of vampires overemphasized in DG. Death and what is beyond is a very interesting muse and is always enjoyable for the player. [good]

.
What it wont have...
Dwemer unless a single historic event. We have covered everything with the dwemer.
Falmer. We have covered almost everything with falmer.
Someplace warm (morrowind, Argonia, Elswyer, Valenwood, SSI, Cyrodiil...etc)
An entire provice, I honestly can hardly expect a city either. These DLC are like the FO expansions. None of which were "too" big. In fact I think that SI sized may even be too big to expect by comparison.
Zombies. I mean honestly, I cant believe they gave into the stereotype of a zombie DLC already.

any other ideas?

We've been to Aetherius before, Dream Sleve&Sovngarde, so probably won't be going there. And isn't the month HEARTfire.

I believe Arena referred to it as 'Heart fire', but most books from Daggerfall to Skyrim refer to the month as 'Hearth fire' (or sometimes as one word in-game)

In Skyrim it is spelt as Heart Fire on the calender.

But it is called Hearth Fire by some people and books.

I like the idea of reseting perks. Bladesman is pretty much useless so that's three skills I can use right away on other stuff.
I would be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off.

If this is a DLC, I'm totally inclined to believe this is the one dlc that culminates the Dragonborn's story and doesn't completely go off topic like Dawnguard, not that it's a bad thing at all we need variation.

My guess, deals with Thalmor, Talos, and possible rise in Divinity with the Dragonborn. The latter part is a personal theroy of mine that the DB is either a shezzarine, reincarnation of Talos, or simply has the option of rising to Divinity simply because of his background. I mean don't forget he's the first hero that isn't a nobody who rose through the ranks and gained skills to become what they are, the Dragonborn is a unique being blessed by the Gods, he's not a typical mortal while others were.

Side note here: I understand the Nerevarine was re-incarnated and all, but it's not a unique thing. Reincarnations happen a lot in TES and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Aetherius reserved for the God's favored. Meaning that unless you're claimed by a Daedra or earn the God's love/admiration, being an average joe causes you to simply start over fresh again. Also the Nerevarine had no powers, The Dragonborn does.

This is a theory I think most of the community here accepts simply because it's just out there and the dots connect. I love Bethesda and all but if they don't do a DLC like this I'll lose faith in their writing skills. I mean they could choose not do it since it's already been done
Spoiler:
w/ Sheogorath in the Shivering Isles and all
and could write-it out with a Lore block (Gods can't reincarnate, etc.), still it'd make a hell of a story imo.

You might wanna go back and check your lore there  The Nerevarine is theoretically immortal ("Neither blight nor age can harm him"), has what could be considered 'superhuman' strength and endurance and a total immunity to disease, the Dovakiin is far less unique, any dedicated Nord can learn Thu'um and there have been many Dovakiin throughout history.

My game says Heartfire. It's currently Heartfire 4E 202 in-game.

But no Nord can absorb the soul of a dragon, and use it's powers to learnt the Thu'um as quickly, for all intents and purposes you're forgetting the Dragonborn is a dragon. That's what sets him apart. Endurance/Strength is relative, I could have been the weakest character in Morrowind, and yet my staves and Magic would do all the work. Same for any of these games, the only that he has going for him is the Blight free card.

No Nord living today, but are you forgetting people like Wulfharth, Zurin Arctus and Tiber Septim? The point about Strength/Endurance is in the real game universe, not in the game, that translates to his body being fortified beyond the power of any mere man.

I don't recall anything like that in Lore, I'll have to check, again never played Morrowind. All all the figures you mentioned were Dragonborn, and became Talos, via CHIM, big difference there.

Where also does it say Arctus had any control over the Thu'um.

But my point is that the current Dovakiin is not at all an isolated figure in history and is not as powerful as you make out, while the Nerevarine, who you so easily dismiss, is actually quite unusual in his power due to the Divine Disease. All you need to be Dragonborn is Dragon's Blood, the gift of Akatosh. I do believe there is some evidence to point to Mankar Camoran being able to acquire this power without being gifted it by Akatosh. In contrast, there is only one who meets the conditions of the Seven Trials and is Nerevar reborn.

Still, every Dragonborn has gone out in a bang, and has ascended to God-hood in some form, and besides that point the theory I've said could come to bear the connections can be made and the evidence is too great to be mere coincidence.

Also not every septim was dragonborn I believe.

I have seen some speculation that they might add seasons to the game with this dlc. Just speculation of course but I think it would be a cool feature.

Any Septim that got to sit his [!@#] on the throne had some sort of Dragon blood. Or else he wouldn't be able to wear the Amulet of Kings.

I guess to weigh in on this there is probably a difference in dragon..ness? between the hero in skyrim and the emperors. Aside from Talos we don't have many records of emperors spitting fire or something so they must have gotten a lesser portion of awesome. The strictness of it only being dragonborn is a bit up for variables, Mankar wore it and he never fus ro dah'ed me.

To do that they would have had to be out slaying dragons. Dragons were basically extinct.

As the whiterun guards say after slaying Mirmulnir :
Guard 1 :''In the ancient tale , the dragonborn would slay dragons and steal their power , thats what you did right , take that dragons power ?''
Guard 2 :''I dont remember anything about Tiber septim killing any dragons''
Guard 1 :''Thats cause there were no dragons then , stupid''

Its not exactly word for word , but this is basicly what they say , if Tiber had slain a dragon , he probably would have learned the voice like our Dovahkiin does , but instead , he learned it by studying with the greybeards (and that floaty cloud guy , but i cant remember his name)

and about the Nerevarine , yeah he cant spit fire , or summon storms , but he lives forever and is immune to disease , and was reincarnated by Azura , if im not mistaken , so he IS chosen by one of the gods (or Daedra ) ... and besides , anyone can learn the voice , its not unique to the dragonborn , among them would be the greybeards , and Ulfric stormcloak .. the dragonborn just does it quicker by using dragon souls
