Re: DLC Speculation
With the Creation Kit on the horizon I'd expect that Bethesda will start DLC work soon enough, but as for when they might announce it, well The Shivering Isles was release almost a year after Oblivion, iirc.

Re: DLC Speculation
I think this is the most popular wishlist idea right now as a good 'warm-up' for a fullblown dlc. I'd really like there to be not only more factions, but just side quests in general since I feel the radiant story really cut about 1/3 of the quests into generic fetch/kill/talk to missions you'd see in assassins creed 1 or Grand theft Auto.OblivionDuruza wrote:What if they extended the Factions with additional 'Rebuild' story quests? Lol Darkbrotherhoods' Creed and Grand theft Elderscrolls.
Erm. But I expect a new area. Because it would be weird if all of a sudden M'aiq the Liar was all like, "Hey, Psst, buddy, M'aiq knows lots, M'aiq tells some, you are some, go to this fort and find special treasure. You owe M'aiq."

Re: DLC Speculation
The Thieves' Guild quests were quite extensive and evidently unending. It would be nice to have similar depth and breath with CoW quests, DB, Companions, Bards, etc.
That would be an acceptable DLC package each, for say 5 bucks. Buy what you really want to play. Similar to the Dragon Age 2 equipment pack DLCs.

I think Todd said in interview somewhere that they aren't going nickle-and-dime you for small DLC's but concentrate on the big ones instead.Syrkin wrote:The Thieves' Guild quests were quite extensive and evidently unending. I know that's just talk, but because there aren't any small DLC's out 2 months after release, it seems they are sticking with the announced plan.

We'll have to wait and see what turns up after the CK is released because patches and the CK are Beths top priority over DLC at the moment.

Yeah I have to agree with you there. Radiant Story harkens back to a more generic day of Daggerfall and so forth and a lot of the 'story' told by quests is diminished by this sense of genericness. At least we will have Mods that will add more story though.Da_BossMaN69 wrote:I think this is the most popular wishlist idea right now as a good 'warm-up' for a fullblown dlc. A dlc reintroducing the other races like sloads, akaviri, the vulpine race, ect. Not as playable characters due to certain restrictions, but as npcs and enemies. I imagine a TES game that lets you visit akavir and thrass...

I think I heard something about DLC NEWS in May.
My biggest wish is extension of the faction quests. After that, Beth can just give us something cool like SI and I'll be happy.

Thalmor~
I'm guessing something that has to do with killing Thalmor, the ban of Talos being lifted, and the civil war not being a warp in the west. Just a thought.

Seems like a bit of a stretch to me. Not that the idea isn't possible, but the Summerset Isle is pretty far away from Skyrim, and so is that island.Assassin540 wrote:I think we might very possibly go to that island next to the mainland of Summerset Isle.

I like to think they'll add the Western Reach, the High Rock Area east of Evermor.

There should be something about the Civil War, like the canon outcome? Maybe it turned out that there was an indecisive victory anyway like the Thalmor wanted.

That seems like something they would actually do to because it's to small to be it's own game and all the orc strongholds are kind of a hint.Gideon Dragontongue wrote:That's Orsinium, actually, which could be really cool.JVElEven wrote:I like to think they'll add the Western Reach, the High Rock Area east of Evermor.

Re: DLC Speculation
Actually, while Orsinium is in the general area, the Area immediately west of Markarth is the Western Reach, which is also part of the Forsworn claim, but heavily fortified and thus likely harder to do guerilla warfare in. Orsinium is slightly northwest of Evermor, IIRC.

I doubt it. I explained why I believe this earlier in the thread.
Typically, Bethesda DLCs are designed as such they could take place at any time before, during or after the actual main quest of the game. The lore treats them like they happened at roughly the same time, also. For instance, neither of the biggest expansions for Oblivion depended on the MQ being completed, and made sense whether or not it was.
The only notable exception to this rule is the Broken Steel expansion for Fallout 3 which continued from the end of the main quest. I suppose it's possible for there to be an expansion like this for Skyrim as well, although these sorts of DLCs don't tend to be their usual thing.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: DLC Speculation
Maybe, but why would they do that? It seems to be a bit of a break from character. While it is possible, there isn't really any reason for why they should make DLC for that.Assassin540 wrote:All you have to do is hop a boat?Lunatic wrote:Seems like a bit of a stretch to me. Re: DLC Speculation
Pilaf, Tribunal is also a notable exception, as it makes little sense unless the character has completed the Main Quest of Morrowind and been named Nerevarine. For this reason a post-Civil War DLC is conceivable, particularly if Bethesda adopts similar level restrictions as they did with Tribunal by making the foes in the new DLC incredibly tough a la Tribunal.
Even so, I agree with you that the majority of Bethesda DLC are standalone so I'd say they certainly wouldn't do more than one DLC that was not its own story.
