I was thinking about spears and how cool it would be to have them. I'm sure it would be a bit of work, but it is sort of weird that no one has a spear.

Two- and one-handed options, as well as Unarmored, so those still stuck in 2007 can pretend they're King Leonidas.
If they weren't nords, but instead dunmer or redguards, nobody would call them "racist".

Also, I would like a Detect Dead spell. Not Detect Undead, but a spell that will point out the bodies of those I have recently killed.

I have on more than one occasion found myself killing a group of people in the woods, and then once the battle is over unable to find all of the bodies. Having a Detect Dead spell would allow the caster to find all bodies for looting or raising.

I think it already does this?

'Nother idea (because I find myself really wanting to use more Shouts but all the good ones have such a long cooldown I never get a chance to use them!):

A quest mod in three parts that at the end gives an ability with -60% reduction in Shout cooldown. The first step would be -20%, and the second -40%. The quest itself would have to be quite difficult... maybe the first step is battle two dragons, the third three dragons, and the third five dragons at once (and they're ALWAYS ancient dragons regardless of your level so no tenth-level super-shouters)? Possibly add some fetching for artifacts or something to make it seem less simplistic/"arena"-ey.

Why -60%? Because you could also throw on the Amulet of Talos and get -80%, then get the Blessing of Talos for a total of -90% (at least I don't think there's any other Shout cooldown reductions). It wouldn't be "broken" because of the very difficult quest; you'd have to EARN the ability to Shout as a true dragonborn!

Secondly, I'd like to see the return of classes and attributes, although I'm still working on the details of how best to execute this.

There was one other thing, but I seem to have forgotten, I guess I'll post it when and if I remember. Along with a more fleshed out point 2.
easy, go to the three standing stone and pick mage, theif or warrior stone, the skills related to each will level 20% faster.... i prefer having no classes, because the tactics i use, and strategies i come up with, allow me to progress in the best possible way

But there are better Standing Stones to be had 8) Besides, it's not about that, it's about having a name to your profession, having Skills that are written down and etched in stone as important to your character. Classes would ideally allow you to take some skills over 100, or leave some skills at a max of say 90, but even a la Oblivion it is nice to see something on paper that defines your character and makes him or her different from someone else's character.

1. Underwater Combat: those Slaughterfish are quite annoying right now. :/

2. Helgen Rebuilt: A big questline to restore Helgen to it's former glory (get resources to Helgen, find Guards, become a Thane/Jarl,...)

Helgen is a minor town, so it could work, although maybe not as far as becoming Jarl. Rebuilding either way would be good.

How about incorporating rebuilding Helgen into becoming Thane of Falkreath? The PC might even earn a House in Helgen or the ability to purchase one, expanding Falkreath as a Hold. Alongside a Winterhold rebuilt Mod project, Helgen rebuilt could make both Holds on par with the other 5 Major Holds, leaving Hjaalmarch (which is the smallest and most inconsequential of the lot) and The Pale.

I think the two things I would like to see, but I don't have the experience to do, would be:

1: A mod that allows for just the compass to be turned off, or allows for only specific items to show up on the compass. For example, you could leave the compass on, but maybe the only locations that show up on the compass are major cities and landmarks. Or everything could be off, but the compass would still show you which direction you are going.

2:Not much of a spoiler but still-
Spoiler:
I would like to see Whiterun get cleaned up. I've completed the Civil War quest as a Stormcloak, but the town is still a bit torn up. I feel like that should be fixed. I've not yet completed the Main Quest, but I would also like to see Helgen restored. I recall a mod for Oblivion that allowed Kvatch to be rebuilt, but you had to do the work for it. I like that idea. Instead of Helgen just magically changing over night, you talk to the Jarl and he asks you to help rebuild, otherwise it just stays the same.
And on a note, I should have read the previous posts, because my number 2 has been mentioned haha. I just searched this thread for compass and saw no responses, and then thought of 2 as an option.

An arena mod would be pretty amazing but make it more complex than the arena that was in oblivion. Having differnt types of battles would be nice. You could have one with no magic aloud just weapons, another with no weapons(bound aloud) just fists and magic, and of coarse anything goes matches. It would also be fun to have various traps(depending on the match) on the field to make things more interesting. I think putting it underground would be good possibly under one of the cities. I'm really suprised that skyrim a place full of battle hungry nords doesn't have an arena.

Not sure if this has been suggested or not, but I'd love to see a mod allowing you to brawl against Braith, the annoying girl in Whiterun. She keeps saying she's willing to fight anyone, so why not make it an option? Also, you get to punch an annoying kid without inflicting a bounty.

I'm a horrible person for suggesting this. But she's really annoying me.

This.

What I want to see is some sort of utility that allows you to convert your music files to the correct format. I had so much custom music in Oblivion, now it's a lot harder to use your own music.

And I know it's a bit early, but I am looking forward to the Skyrim edition of Better Cities. The vanilla cities are so bland when compared to the Better Cities of Oblivion.

I was watching my girlfriend play Skyrim for the first time, when she asked "Can I get a butterfly net to catch those buggers easier?" I think that would be awesome. Strangely enough, her mom and dad (who I got both hooked on Skyrim) asked the same thing.
I think they're hinting something at me.

Also, maybe a fishing pole to hunt down those man-eating fish? Stick some human flesh on a string and GOOOOO!

Also, GrayFlux, you made my night. I laughed so hard.

Some have these have already been mentioned, I don't mean to tread on anyone's toes by doing so. In any event the OP should start a list, though it's completely up to them.
Spoiler:
- Heavier guard presence in towns. Double at least. Do the same with dungeon enemies.
.
- Bandit raids on towns. Guards always talk about them.
.
- Fill towns with static named NPCs "Commoner", "Pilgrim" etc.
.
- Vampire embrace. I want thralls by the dozens.
.
- New spell for Master Conjuration, you can have two thralls, fair enough. You should be able to summon all dead around you, like the Ritual stone. To counteract any unbalancing, have these lesser (and non permanent) minions at 50% of their original health or a default 100 health only.
.
- Ghosts! You may have encountered the "Phial of Phantom" have people run scared if they see you in that form (if the ghost attacks, or you attack as the ghost, people will attack as normal)
.
- Light on/off. mentioned earlier, make all lights activateable, doing so will turn them off or on.
.
- Leaning on walls, pillars, etc. You see the citizens to it. make it so you can do this too (hold ctrl so the "E" appears then hit e to lean against)
.
- Masks conceal your identity, cancels out all comments based on your skin/facial appearance etc. perhaps have them comment on it "I find it hard to trust a man who conceals his face" or something like that.
.
- Darker ruins, and I mean Morrowind dark. I want torches and light spells to be imperative to exploration, not redundant.
.
- Double the damage of Master level destruction spells (specifically Blizzard and Lightening Storm), make them twice as expensive to cast (and to buy) as a result.
.
- A location with a training centre. Large, round room with no objects in the way. Wall is lined with levers that spawn groups of enemies (one level spawns 20-30 normal draugr, another spawns restless, another spawns 1-5 deathlords. etc.)
.
- A mountain house (underground and as little damage as possible) with a throne room at it's far end (a bedroom behind that with ample storage), Have it so you can recruit bandits OR equivalent vampires / undead that guard and patrol the facility (naturally non hostile). Have raids by bandit clans or even Imperial legion soldiers
.
- Improve sneaking, virtually impossible to remain undetected when in LOS and not in adequately dark areas. Add an ability to throw rocks to lure them (Farcry Instincts style, unlimited ammo, weightless and does not appear in inventory). Also have the movement of objects register as detectable movement. Knock something off a table and they come to investigate. etc.
.
- Remove the need to be thane before purchasing houses. make 2-3 houses for every town. 1 shanty style house, 1 standard house and 1 manor style (relative to how the manors look in that town). Prices for them (including upgrades) 1000-2000, 7500-10,000 and 20,000-50,000 respectively.
.
- Refugee groups (likely the majority of which will be dunmer) that take up refuge in ruins. Camps would be much like the Kajiit Caravans.
.
- Turf wars. Random World Encounter. have Bandits groups (or vampire) fighting the current occupants for control of the area.
.
- Larger Civil war skirmishes. You see a 3 stormcloaks vs 3 imperials every now and them, perhaps a larger scale (say 10v10) can also be encountered
.
- Wild werewolves (this strain affected by waxing and waning of moons)
.
- Add to all the choices in dialogue you have. There is usually The nice, neutral and rude responses. Why not add taunting, insulting, comedic, wise and incoherent responses as well.
.
- As mentioned earlier, add to the menial jobs that you can do. Woodcutting, lumber mill, farming, bartening, bard (perhaps if a race compatible voice is available make it possible to sing as well)
.
- Another obvious one is cleaner bodies, more youthful faces. Change the dunmer a bit so they don't all have to look so angry.
.
- Make it possible to "occupy" ruins. Once cleared (and providing you're still within it's boundaries) have an option appear in one of the UI menu's. Occupation of a ruin will disable all re spawning of containers and former occupants (until another location is occupied or if you choose to abandon your camp)
.
- More traps and trap types (I don't have a lot of ideas for variety here)
.
- Vampire dens have cattle (as in people to feed off). Perhaps have it so vampires are not immediately hostile to you and (provided you don't run your mouth or anything) allow you the opportunity to join their group. As mentioned in an earlier one, area then becomes a house and all containers become non re spawning, occasional bandit raids etc. ruin reverts to normal if lead vampire is killed by player or if all occupants are killed in raid.
.
- Make the damage of dragons something to be truly wary of.
.
- Robes over armour, clothes under armour. etc. Mentioned earlier by others
That's my little contribution to the think tank. 8)

EDIT: And no, It's rather likely that, of those I listed, there is probably only about 3 I could do myself. I mess around with the CS but I leave the modding to those who know what they are doing. In any event I have thrown my ideas to the masses and I will enjoy whatever the modding community produces regardless of whether any of these idea's come to life. =P

I think it'd be cool to be able to blend in with enemies. If I am a Stormcloak, but I kill an Imperial solider and take his armor, why can't I deceive them into thinking I am one of them? It would be cool to see this with bandits too, though I don't know how it would be implemented. Maybe if you kill a bandit in a certain cave, or at the cave entrance, without being seen by the other bandits, you can take his armor. If you put it on, they might think its him.

It's no mod :P

The item can be found in the vanilla game, I forget where. But sadly, it can't be used. Just an easter egg I suppose.
