Lack of 'hardcore' mode

A place to discuss and ask questions about the fifth part of The Elder Scrolls series and its expansions

Should Bethesda have included a realistic mode?

Indeed. If that's what you really want, Dark Souls is available right over there. TES isn't *and shouldn't be* Dark Souls.

Would I have liked to see it? Yeah. Do I think there are better things they could have spent their time on? Yeah.

Well to be clear, Hardcore mode and Realism Mode are 2 different things.

Hardcore mode would simply be making the monsters harder, loot less abundant, less coin, etc etc.

Realism Mode would imply sleep, drink, food, broken bones, etc etc.

I feel the game could use both additions, and maybe even a Hardcore Realism mode combination.

As it is right now, it's very easy to make your character too powerful to the point where the game play becomes extremely easy (1 or 2 shotting ancient dragons for example)

Also, I agree that Realism mode would be a very welcome addition simply because a lot of the frame work is already there, but is made useless without making a realism mode (Cooking useless but in game, sleeping is in game, but not needed, etc). I welcome any changes to the game that expand upon many of the features that are useless atm.

Necropost...
I lke the Hardcore mode in FO:NV.

In Skyrim, at level 40-50, you can look at your active effects screen and see almost a dozen positive effects and no negative ones. That's a bit of a problem after playing FO:NV.
Even w/o Hardcore mode FO:NV has various ways to make you feel the pain of post-apocolyptia.
You have withdrawal to various substances.
In Skyrim you have: no food/water/sleep need
abundant positive effects
gear that does not deteriorate
minimal flora/fauna which harms you
abundant necessary gear like lockpicks
I know you get the point. There's no way the dev's have made LIFE hard in this game.
They just left it to the enemies they created.
