Take it from me - you don't need to worry about the combat. I played it, and it felt VERY awkward, and I loved it. Oblivion's combat was very nice and clean. Skyrim's is messy and disorganised, like I feel it should be. When you sit down in front of the screen and actually have to do the fighting yourself rather than watching it, it takes on a different feel. Plus, third person is never as involving.

Makes sense. Oblivion's combats felt more like you were fighting honorable duels with your opponents.

Hopefully, Skyrim's combat is more of a chaotic "fight for your life" thing as it should be.

Comparable to Dead Island's melee combat? That's how I imagine it, personally. Very visceral and nothing shiny and smooth about it. Which is good. ;)

To be honest, you can blame the player in that video as much as the game. He's just not good at this game.

Yep, this seems to be the case... he probably wasn't used to the camera and controls. The combat moves themselves look fine to me.

Not played that, but yes it's very ... heavy. There's no finesse, at least outside the finishing moves. It's like you're literally just hacking away, trying to kill them before they kill you, and then when you've defeated most your character just thinks 'awesome' and does this finishing move to celebrate.

Keep in mind that they only got 20 minutes of gameplay and needed to get used to the controls.

I'm definitely not complaining. That looks REALLY good, thousands of times better than oblivion.

I think the tail moves very fluidly, like a real tail would move when running.
How would you like it to look?

Am I the only one who thinks being a Khajiit in Skyrim is more awkward than the combat animations?
I used to make polls, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Same here. My cat's tail doesn't wildly flip back and forth when she runs.. Not sure what people are expecting with tails in this game.

What looked awkward to me is that he's wielding a one-handed axe with nothing in the off-hand. Put a shield or weapon there and the animation makes more sense.

Well, the main purpose on of a cats tail is balance. So, it stands to reason that it would be moving (unnecessarily) as little as possible. Seriously, watch a cat when it walks. The tail doesn't flip flop around or even flow back and forth.

Then again, Khajiits aren't cats. It would look silly if the tails just pointed straight upwards all the time. I don't really see a problem.

Most All cats are also quadrupedal rather than bipedal, so you can't really make the comparison.

I wasn't saying they ARE cats, I was giving the reasoning for the tail not being as "animated" as people think it should be. Tails have a function, regardless of if it's a cat or a dog or a wolf or a tiger, and so-on, and the primary function is balance. Bipedal balance, well obviously then, the balance is required at a lower level hence the tail not sticking straight up.

End point being, the animation for the tail is fine.
