Spoiler:
Great....now i am confused
Owyn stood in a dark corner all this time. Seeing that Councilman Duruza left the council room, Owyn came out from his dark corner and headed outside, to clear his thoughts "A war?" "With the Argonians?" "Never boring around here"..said Owyn to himself

"Telvanni, you spoke of three hundred wizards. This is a lot of magicans. What would we, the houses, have to pay for the potions required?" Edril said. "And how long would it take before the Argonians find another rout? Yet again, this seems only as another delay of their march."

@deadknight: What's the confusion about? Have you read through the RP?

Just a small observation - could we get some more torches in the council hall? There are dark corners all over the place that people seem to be stepping in and out of. :P

"I think we have to stop thinking about money while we are at war for one." Dridyn said. "Haggling for ingredients is redundant when the Argonians are on our doorstep. I will write a list of the components required. After that I will need a number of men to gather a large amount of them. As for the Argonians re-routing. It would take them a few days to get accros the river on another way. But we can't hold our ground for days of course. We will have to parley; and bluff."

Well... Now I guess I did mention being under cover of an Invisibility spell, but I guess there are an awful lot of corners.

Spoiler:
sorry, I realized we had a lot of lurkers in the shadows only after I posted, but my character is sensitive to the light;
So I needed at least some acknowledgement of his affinity to dark places aside from (outside the antechamber). That and having my kitty pant in open view would be odd

Finally the messenger left Duruza's private chambers, soon followed by his master. Duruza stood solemnly and the more astute members of the council could tell from the grave expression that marred his visage that the news was not pleasant.

“It is my deepest regret to inform the council, that under increasing attacks from the Argonian invaders, the city of Almalexia has been breached and the inhabitants of the city have fallen back into the inner parts of the city.”

Duruza paused ever so slightly before continuing, “What’s more, the Grandmagnate of House Inodril, Sera Indoril Mastrius, was slain during the attack. From what I hear he and his men led a spirited defence of the city, and died valiantly and bravely by the sword, allowing time for more of the Order to help evacuate the city before it was overrun.

Spoiler:
@JV, I simply wanted you to continue RPing, either by going down the 'on the outside' train of thought, or coming back to the Council

@All, lurking is okay, but you could also speak for the first time after remaining quite for the meeting, I'm sure there are many ways to write yourselves in, but what has occurred so far has been great.

I'm also wondering why none of you was willing to hazard a guess at what the messanger would say :P.

"I told you Dunmer idiots... But you didn't listen." Kilaya egotistically spoke as he leaned back in his chair, lighting a pipe and slightly chuckling.

Dridyn eyed Kilaya for a moment before speaking.
"These are dire news indeed." he said, his eyes scanning the faces of the rest of the council looking for reactions. "But in a time such as this it is critical that we do not dwell on it now. We must decide on our course of action immediately."

"So you knew it would come to this all along, argonian? Then, certainly, you must know their next move?" Edril turned to the cheeky lizard. He still wasn't relly sure why the lizard was there since it didn't even seem to want to be there.

Ko stepped towards his fellow Telvanni, his diminutive size apparent as he barely kneels to whisper in Dridyn's ear "Archmagister may this one ask something?"
A barely perceptible nod in return, he continued "Ko has heard tales of the labyrinths beneath Mournhold and Almalexia, is it possible to use them to ambush the lizards and to ferry survivors to safety?"

"From my reports, the Ordinators had begun evacuating civilians into the inner city and Bamz-Amschend before the attack took place," Duruza replied, "I'm not sure what they plan, but it would be extremely difficult to fight the Argonains in the sewers. We must pray that the Argonians have not been able to infiltrate the inner city via the sewer system. The Ordinators must be vigilant."

"We must send troops at once. The Indoril must elect a new leader and the morale in the city is at a low. We must send aid before our brethren loose all hope and perish," he said gravely.

War Council

"Their next move? You speak as if I'm a war prisoner who you have captured. I would say they would take the next biggest city, or track all the people down to Bamz-Amschend and lay siege to the area. But, for all we know, there are spies here right now, and they will do what we least expect them to on the field of battle. Of course, if there are indeed spies here..." Kilaya's voice trailed off. The councilmen glared at him with suspicion.
"Don't even think about it. Of course, my allegiance is with Hlaalu."

"My intention was not to offend. Though, as an argonian you should know, better than any of us, what weaknesses the argonians have." Edril continued. "Clearly we have aimed at the wrong points of the Argonian war machine."

Kilaya leaned forward into the light. "Well, an Argonian cannot fight remotely well on solid concrete, as there is no where to hide, and no where to run away, if they are trapped in the city. What we could possibly do is get them to come in, and then block the way they came in, trapping them in the city. Of course, if they do set up makeshift camps in the sewers, there's no hope. The sewers are emulations of their homeland climate, and Argonians are trained to fight well in this terrain. They might also tame the Durzogs, or get eaten by them... And the goblins will be a problem for them."

Edril looked at the argonian, "very well." then he turned to the head of the table, Duruza, and continued "Then perhaps a suprize attack at their rear would be appropriate. This would not only pervent reinforcements from entering the city but also the ones in the city from coming back out."

"It is clear that the Ordinators can not fight the Argonians in the sewers. Something should be done to prevent the invaders from accessing them, but we must not lose sight of our goals in the west either. We should destroy the sewer entrances in the inner city. The only problem is getting to them without alerting the Argonian army," Duruza responded.
Spoiler:
Yes it is a bit, but we'll be playing a more 'Battle of Kvatch' type role than a Helmsdeep defence. At first anyway.

I'm going to put myself in a waiting positio outside the chambers, as I'm going on a visit. I'll be waiting. The visit's in the real world by the way. Please, I'll notify when I'm back.
Outside the council chambers

Llemetha had meanwhile arrived back in the council building, and was now waiting for the meeting to end, as she was very keen to get to talk to the councilman Hlaalu without the other clansmen interefering.

Spoiler:
Maybe you should create some makeshift Dres councilmen - some of the grumpy old men I mentioned, just so my clan won't be completely distanced from everything.

"Pardon me sir, but I believe you misunderstood. I wasn't reffering to the girl, merely the fact that she was invisible." Edril said, a bit overwhelmed by the adressing from the elderly dres. "My lord wanted to send a messenger into the city." He then said, turned to Duruza. "Then why not an invisible one? A skilled night blade might be able to get the message inside."

Duruza watched the conversation colsely before speaking, "I believe a specialised team might be more appropriate. We need skilled warriors and mages to close the sewers off from the Argonians. Perhaps a Telvanni mage might be able to assist them in entering the city?"

Spoiler:
I feel we're building up to having several different groups here, so keep in mind the different quest options opening up. It will likely be that different timezones cover different aspects of the 'war' with different DMs.
