Re: The Chain That Binds
Seldanar rolled his eyes at the battle before him. He remained seated at the corner of the tavern. The ways of Men were so bizzare. Such violent brawls would never even begin within his small community in the southern Siliks. "So barbaric." he said to himself. "So pathetic."
"Uhh...Shut up, Beavis!"

Therandir, eager for a distraction from the memory of the wretched, bitter argument that had constituted most of his day, could hardly restrain himself as the brawl erupted. He charged from his wooden seat, knocking it to the floor with a dull thud, and plowed straight into a group of ruffians with fists swinging wildly.
"Let's have at it!" He shouted, although none could hear his words over the roar that had consumed the tavern. Therandir generally would have behaved in a more civilized manner, but this day proved to be an exception.

Re: The Chain That Binds
The man grasped Therandir by the arm with a surprisingly strong grip, "As civilized as Ofresians may be, they'll take you and tear you apart. Ever since the last war, the Empire has taken a general disliking to Antans." The man slipped a silver coin into Therandir's hand. "There's a dwarf seated at an empty table. Go there."

Seldanar chuckled at the man's comment. "If this is considered civilized, I gather it does not take much to be considered a civilization around these parts." he said to the man.

"Alright. If you wish." Therandir seated himself next to Laechlan.

Pegrhen had given up trying to get out of the tavern, so he leaned against a wall in the corner, wating for it to blow over.

Re: The Chain That Binds
"Unlike the Elves," the man started, "we have a stable system of power. Last I came to the Sitik Isles I somehow was caught up in an entanglement of greedy bureaucrats vying for power."
The brawl was dying down and most of the participants were returning to their seats. The man scrutinized Seldanar. "What is an elf doing so far from 'civilization' anyways? Regardless of whatever it may be," the man slipped a hand in his pocket and pulled out another silvery coin. He held it with his index and middle finger and flashed it. "It'd be best to hold on to this. Her Grace knows when a silver coin might be useful," he walked towards Seldanar and slipped it to him. "There's a dwarf at a table. Sit by him." He quickly disappeared into the tavern.
The man came up on Pegrhen. "I've little time. This may seem queer, but, there is another dwarf in this tavern. I know you'd like little of me, and this is a strange occasion, however," he pulled out another coin, "I'd like you to meet with him. You know what a silver coin fetches around here? At least 5 pints of ale and mead per coin, they are a hard lot to come by. Take this, and meet with him." He disappeared into the shadow.

Re: The Chain That Binds
"Uhh... Farewell." Pegrhen looked out in the air in front of him, with a puzzled expression. Now that the brawl had cooled down, he could easily exit the tavern and be on his way. But curiousity got the better of him. He slowly strolled over to the table with the other dwarf and climbed up on a stool. "Ummm... Greetings."

"Aye, another dwarf? Greetings to ye too." Laechlan greeted his fellow dwarf. "Did the odd hooded fellow send ye here?"

"Indeed. What did he tell you? I have a bad feeling about this..."
Re: The Chain That Binds
"Pardon, my friends," Therandir stated quickly, charging into the middle of the dwarves' conversation, "But I believe you should hold these distrustful words, in such a friendly place as this. What say you to another round of drinks, by my coin?" The statement referred not to Therandir's silver coin, as he intended to keep it for at least a short while, but rather to the standard currency he carried on his person.

Re: The Chain That Binds
The barkeep, Samwise, approached the table. He was carrying mugs of ale and sweat beaded his red cheeks. "Ah, young masters!" He said. His cheery tone was betrayed his look and the recent brawl that broke out. "This round is from Mr..." He drifted off for a slight second before returning, "Chain be damned, I can't recall his name. Oh well, he says that it is from a friend." He sat the mugs for each person. After he sat them down, he wiped his hands on his apron and continued on.
"So many people shuffle into the Oak and Pine everyday, I can hardly remember the regulars. Actually, just about everyone in here is a regular, if I reckon. Ha," he chuckled, "All who is left in the city that hasn't visited here would be her Royal Grace herself, I figure. Well, anyways, the man was in a dark green cloak. He was well-spoken, and I think I saw his face before..." He raised his finger to his lip in thought. "He's a good man. Always comes in and minds his business, he broke up a fight once." His darted out in space as if to recall something, "Oh, no, that wasn't him. That was another. But, I know that I've seen him..." He bowed his head in thought. One thing Samwise disliked about himself, was that he was so forgetful. He'd always get overwhelmed with his work.
"Ah! I know! He travels with an aulmen! I'm sure of it. Well, good days, young masters." He bowed and swiveled around, and before his third step away, he darted back to the table. "Oh, blighter, I nearly forgot! The man would like to see you in his room afterwards. Just ask the barmaid, Elayne, for it. She's the blonde one managing the tap at the moment. He said to take your time, but not for too long." He glanced on everyone's faces and gave a short laugh. "Is there anything else that I can help you all with?"

Pegrhren looked down at his mug. "I don't drink. One of you can have this."

Re: The Chain That Binds
Barsin was alone at a table, drinking away. Trying to have a good time, but he was failing horribly, he missed the old days of action.
He was so out of it that he didn't even notice the fight that took place moments ago.

Re: The Chain That Binds
"A dwarf who does not drink? What strange times we live in." Therandir grinned, scanning the faces of the others at the table. "I'll gladly relieve you of the drink, friend."

Re: The Chain That Binds
Seldanar rolled his eyes. This stranger thought that a mere coin would possibly convince him to follow orders? "Bloody fool..." he muttered and he flipped the coin in his hand.
"Uhh...Shut up, Beavis!"
