I've decided after much discussion, to start advertising a new roleplay I've been formulating.
Basically, it focuses on the war between the Dunmer and the Argonians over Central and Southern Morrowind and Northern Black Marsh. I'm happy for the RP to cover both sides and I'm happy for for members of both sides to come from any race featured (i.e. playable) in the Elder Scrolls series.
Basically the story goes like this:
The Argonains have invaded Morrowind at the dawn of the 4th Era. After months of fighting the Dunemr have been able to halt the Argonain advance at the Velothi Mountains and in the Sacred East. However, the Dres have been forced to pull back from their traditional grounds and seek refugee in Northern Morrowind and Houses Hlaalu and Indroil have also conceded much ground.
A pivotal point of the battle is the City of Almalexia. While the Dunmer hold the city for now, the Argonains have laid an uncharacteristic siege on the city and there efforts to prevent the Dunmer from receiving reinforcements have so far been successful.
In response to the threat, the Dunmer houses have assembled a council of war in an unknown location. Here members from all the Houses have assembled to discuss a plan of attack to rid Morrowind of the Argonain invaders once and for all.
Status of the 5 Houses:
Hlaalu: We have lost much of our territory including our traditional capital of Narsis, forcing us to re-locate our House capital to Kragenmoor. However we are still a strong House due to our strength before the crisis and have much gold in our coffers to support the war effort. Re-enforcements from the Imperial province are on the way to support us.
Indoril: House Indoril have lost ground to the lizard invaders, but their resolve is strong and they still fight hard for the capital. While Indoril was falling in the 3rd Era, it survived the Oblivion Crisis and Eruption of Red Mountain relativity unscathed making it a House not to be ignored in these dark times.
Redoran: House Redoran were severely affected by the Oblivion Crisis and lost their stronghold in Ald'ruhn. Nonetheless, their new movement in Blacklight is still strong and their warriors will be a force to be reckoned with. However, the Warriors of Redoran must focus on keeping the Nords and Orcs out of Morrowind by holding the Dunmeth Pass.
Telvanni: The Telvanni were crippled by the tidal waves that ensued from the Eruption of Red Mountain. The loss of Sadrith Mora was terrible, and while Port Telvannis is damaged, it is not destroyed meaning the Sorcerers of this house will continue to fight. However, there are some in the House who do not want to get involved in the conflict because the Argonian invasion has not hurt Telvanni and it has seen their power increase as other Houses suffer.
Dres: House Dres has lost all of it's holding and been crippled as a House. The only house not to have been seriously affected by previous disasters, Dres has now moved it's capital to Solstheim and many survivors have fled to Kragenmoor (A few councilors can be found here amongst the Hlaalu court) or the Sacred East.
The Argonians:
The invaders have taken the opportunity of the chaos caused by the Red Day to invade. They were ruthless in their attacks and quickly took Tear, freeing countless slaves and wreaking havoc before a defensive force could be mustered. However, once fleeing survivors of Dres reached the Hlaalu and Indroil holdings, the Dunmer were able to muster some troops and put up a good fight, halting the invasion. While the Argonians continue to attack, they have skillfully avoided pitch battles against the Dunmer, but with the Dunmer mustering for a counter-attack to retake the Deeshan Plains, they will soon need to ready themselves for battle.
Additional Background Info:
Here's an update for you all and a http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l61 ... heeast.jpg
The shading is Redoran: the red in the west, Hlaalu: the yellow in the south-west, Indoril: the white in the centre-east, Dres: the purple in the south and Telvanni the orangey brown in the north-east. Oh and, green is temple.
Just note these are old territories, the Dres have lost all ground and the Indroil and Hlaalu have lost fair amounts too.
The Argonians have taken the majour cities of Narsis and Tear. The central plains and southern swamps have fallen. The battlelines are drawn near Almalexia and Kragenmoor (the new Hlaalu capital).
I'd like for each house to have representation in the RP eventually. None of the Houses are dead (more on their statuses in a bit). As I said in the LOOT I would like: a really bitter Dres, a Telvanni or two, more Hlaalu and maybe some non-affiliated adventurers and mercenaries. I'm happy with the number of Redoran right now. If this starts getting bigger than I'd ideally like a pro rata increase across all the Houses.
At the moment we have:
8 Hlaalu, 2 Redoran, 2 Telvanni, 1 Dres, 2 Indoril, 1 Non-affiliated Dunmer, 1 mercenary and 4 Argonians.
Racial breakdown: 10 Dunmer, 6 Argonians, 1 Breton, 3 Imperials and 2 Khajiiti
These translate to 7 warriors, 4 mages, 6 stealth/rouge types (on the Dunmer side).
I still want an Indoril or two and a couple more Telvanni (Chaos may join later if it fits in, and I kinda like the fact that only some of the Telvanni were kind enough to come while the others were too self-centre - see my first post: Status of the Great Houses section) and Redoran (Ezkaton is on that).

The Rules:
1. Stick to the topic
We're here to delve into the world of 4th Era Morrowind and Black Marsh so stick to pre-prescribed lore in official lore and as decided in the OP. Keep posts in the game world and don't go silly and/or off-topic.
2. No God RPing/Listen to DMs
This is a fundamental RP rule of thumb, don't try and take over the RP and/or other characters (including NPCs), unless of course your a DM. You can control your own actions, but not necessarily the outcome. (i.e. 'Duruza drew his sword and lunged at Setharan' not 'Duruza drew his sword and lunged at Setharan cleaving the filthy lizard in two'
3. Be realistic
Your character cannot be a superheor/god. You are a mortal like everyone else and you are not perfect in every way. You may be skilled in certain areas, but you have to acknowledge that in other areas, you are weak. We're all on the same foot (except perhaps our Argonian enemies - it would be interesting and fun to let them have a bit of an advantage
4. Thoughtful Entries
I dream of an RP which reads like a book. This can be achieved if we all wait our turns, put extra time/effort into our posts, and consider carefully what others have written. If you have something you desperately have to say, but it takes a while to write, I will allow post reservations within reason, but I will retain the right to withdraw that privilege. It's just common sense though and I trust everyone here to do the right thing.
5. Joining in/leaving
Feel free to join in whenever you want. Just make sure you do so in a manner that flows with the story. PM me if I'm around if you want me to bring you in or simply use a short intro like "Duruza had stood silently for some time, but as he observed the conversation that took place, he could no longer hold his tongue."
6. A note on spoiler tags
Keep all Out of Character posting to spoiler tags please. I'll post announcements in spoiler tags, so be sure to read them. If your setting the scene, just post in default rather than your colour, no need for spoiler tags (i.e. Thunder boomed across the night sky as Duruza hurried through the harsh rain towards the tiny speak of light on the horizon, that was Balmora).
7. Follow the Official UESP Forum Rules
This is a basic one, but make sure you know them and follow them
8. As always: Have FUN
You know me, I couldn't not put that in
In addition, I'd like to recommend that all new RPers read Vivec's Tear's Tips Thread. It's very handy and has a lot of good info.
Start Date:
I was thinking in about a month give or take a week or two. Sorry I can't be more specific. I know that quite a few people are quickly approaching exams and there are several people I've spoken to, who can't join now but may join later on.JVElEven wrote:Now, Duruza, how soon do you think this can get going?
As for a date, we've discussed the 11th or the 18th of June, or the 2nd of July as rough start dates, but these are definitely far from set in stone so I'd appreciate your feedback.
How to join:
Post your character here and I'll add you to the confirmed players list.

Race: Dunmer

Class: Councilman of Great House Hlaalu
Class Information:
Duruza may be a Councilman and a politician, but he was raised to be a traditional Dunmer warrior. Skilled in the balanced use of the Blade, Bow and powerful destruction magic, he is agile quick dealing powerful blows to his enemies.

Favoured Attributes: Strength and Agility
Major Skills: Long Blade, Marksman, Destruction, Light Armour, Speechcraft
Minor Skills: Mysticism, Short Blade, Alteration, Mercantile, Medium Armour
Personality/Characteristics:
Duruza is a noble and idealistic Dunmer. He still hopes that the Dunmer may redeem themselves and rise again to be a people who are respected and revered by others. Altruistic and brave, Duruza will put his own life on the line to complete any dangerous mission that will ensure the safety of his people.

Born to a noble family, Duruza was taught the traditional ways of the Dunmer. Although his family supported King Helseth's moves to bring peace to Morrowind, they still clung to the old ways of ancestor worship and the following of the teachings of Saint Veloth. After mastering the Dunmer ways of the warrior, Duruza served his House on Vvardenfell during the Blight Curse, and later, against the Daedric invaders and quickly rose in the ranks of his House to ascend to the position he is in today.

Opening Post (Just to be clear we haven't started yet, development still in progress):
The Great Chamber was filled with noise and hubbub. As he prepared to enter the throng, Councilman Duruza of Great House Hlaalu, readied himself for what was to come. He took one final moment to compose himself, then pushed open the great doors of the Chamber.
A hush feel across the room as he entered. The others in the room feel silent and looked to this newcomer with questioning eyes, seemingly searching his very soul.
"Greetings brothers," Duruza proclaimed, "I am sure you are all aware of why you are here this night. We come together for a Council unlike any other we have seen in an age. We come for a Council of War!"
The room erupted in cheers at these words and Duruza raised his hands before continuing.
"The Argonians have taken our homes, they have taken what is ours. We cannot let our former differences get in the way of what is right, we must stand firm. United. As one peoples against these lizard scum!"
Again, the room erupted and this time the roar of the assembled Dunmer was too loud for anyone to even contemplate trying too speak over.
All the better, Duruza thought, let their passion burn like the fires of Red Mountain. The Three know we'll need all the assistance we can get in these dark times.
When the din finally ended, Duruza continued his speech,
"Brethren, we must stand as one. The Argonian-filth have taken much of what is ours. Our kinsman of House Dres have all lost their homes. Our beloved city of Narsis has fallen to this plague upon our homeland. If we do not fight, soon all will be lost. You of House Telvanni may think that all is well, but you have not seen the destruction. How much longer do you think the stoic Indoril can hold back the tide of war and shelter you from this darkness?
We must retake Narsis and secure the Thir river once more. For the lizards revel in the waters, and they travel swiftly into our heartland.
And we must hasten to the aid of our brothers in Almalexia, we can not know how much longer they will be able to withstand the onslaught on their city, with little in the way of sustenance and no help to be seen or heard of.
This is why I have called this meeting of gravest nature. Something must be done now lest our peoples fade away."
What do you all think so far?
