Screw what I'm "supposed" to do, I'm playing the game, I want to make a character with super speed, that's my business. Personally, I believe that lore, logic, realism, detail, all of that should only serve to enhance gameplay. If it's a great story that you don't enjoy playing, then I'm not really down for that.

Haravikk wrote:Not without magical assistance or enchanted items anyway, which could very well still give you unnatural speed. But I think the point of dropping these skills is that it stops you having to wander around like you're wading through molasses in the early game, in favour of having a more consistent basic speed. It's likely that armour will still have an effect on your speed, that a perk may be able to reduce/remove, but to go faster than normal I think will require more sensible perks, or magical intervention for anything approaching unnatural speed.
Frankly, I never felt like I was going slow in the first level. That issue about armor is a good point, however. I just hope if they have a 'Flash/Spider-Man' perk, you can get it early, I hate having to ignore the first bit of a character's "story" in your head because he doesn't have what he should have right away.
Haravikk wrote:I wonder though what the dragon shout to slow down time will be like, as if you still move normally then that's going to be quite the advantage right there :P
That's not super speed, that's time travel/control. Which isn't a bad power, but it isn't the same.

They weren't exactly very useful to begin with.

Yes. By controlling time.

I was able to skip entire dungeons sometimes. Helm of the Crusader, AFTER I trudge through a long boring maze of skeletons? No, I'll just strip off my armor, starve myself for a few days until I'm Stage 4, then hop up and grab it. It was seriously awesome.

Without the Attributes I think it's going to take a more fallout approach, much like other RPGs, where, for every Kill, Quest or success is certain endeavors you'll get exp. Personally I really like choosing the attributes at the start of a game in Oblivion, It makes me know what I want my character to be like.

But, I'm sure it will still be a very fun experience of leveling up.

They said you level up based on increasing your skills, so there's not going to be EXP like in Fallout or Final Fantasy. Each time you increase a skill it adds to your level up, like how major skills did in previous Elder Scrolls, only this time every skill works towards it and higher leveled skills add more to the level up counter.

I'm wondering why everyone is playing the violin for Athletics and Acrobatics, but Mysticism is left to die a cold lonely death. Despite their removal of Athletics and Acrobatics, you can still run and jump. But Mysticism was the school of the soul trap spell. How are we supposed to fill soulgems now? Will there even be soulgems? If not how will we handle enchanting?

Also, I know they explained that Health, Stamina and Magicka will handle the jobs of the old attributes, and they explained that magicka handles the job of intelligence, but they're avoiding the fact that things like lockpicking aren't governed by how strong you are, or how much stamina you have. It's a task that requires relatively little physical strength, just a lot of dexterity, so how are they calculating that now?

Also, in the case of Acrobatics, I'm hoping they properly execute some form of climbing skill, since I used a lot of elevated positions for assassinations and such.

The mysticism spell effects have been absorbed into the other schools.

The only time I used Acrobatics was when I was going up to Dark Fissure, and Herameus Mora's shrine and going around the mountains took too long
