Mage Effects
Mage Effects
Hello there! I'm new to the game and I really like it. I'm a mage because I think it's the most diverse class. But anyways, I think that the current spells are kinda... boring. They're cool but pretty boring. I was wondering, is there any mod that "livens up" the spells a bit? And by that I mean, adds cool effects. So is there any good, stable spell effects mod? I heard about that Midas Magic thing, but I don't know if it modifies vanilla effects. Also, isn't Midas Magic just overpowered? I mean, it's not going to be fun being invincible and casting 8 million volt lightning orbs just to kill everything in 1 hit.
So anyways any good spell effects mod?
Thanks for reading.

Yeah, but looking for mage effects didn't give anything that actually has anything to do with spell effects.HatofMadness wrote:have you tried this website?
Re: Mage Effects
Search Midas Magic or Mighty Magick in TESnexus. I think you will find it pleases.

Do they also edit vanilla effects?Murcator wrote:Search Midas Magic or Mighty Magick in TESnexus. I think you will find it pleases.
And also, aren't they overpowered(the added spells)?

Welcome to the Forum. Concerning mods it's all a bit of a jungle... they have a lot to offer, but there's also the risk that you will mess your game. The only way to find out is to try.
Best of luck.

Trying out Midas Magic now. How do you get the spells that mod adds?

This reminds me of my young nephew. I gave him a lollipop and he asked me, "Will I like it, Uncle?" I gave him the perfectly logical good advice I'm famous for... "Suck it and see!"

And a generally good practice is: learn to read the Readme.

Re: Mage Effects
I would suggest Supreme Magicka instead. Midas Magic makes the magic system feel overpowered with chain lightening and what not. But I think that Supreme Magicka makes the system just right, overhauling it almost completely.

Re: Mage Effects
Doesn't really change magic itself, but I also recommend Better Quality Magic SFX and Ranokoas Faster Spells (both at TESNexus). The first changes the sound effects for the spells, making them a bit more realistic, and the second speeds up flight time of ranged spells, which also adds realism, and makes spell combat a bit more exciting.
