Aside from fast travel, are you required to walk/ride (vs a travelling system with boats, caravans, etc)? Do quests force you to travel from one side of the map to the other because they assume you're going to fast travel? If you answered yes to both questions, then you can see what the problem is.

I have no problem with more options. They just tend to subtract from previous ones.

ok im sorry but i dont see that as an option, if it was easy it wouldnt be a quest, the mission giver would just do it themselves. its assumed you can take the time to TRAVEL from place to place because your an ADVENTURER. i mean seriously? do you expect everything to be withing a 1 mile radius from you? im sorry if your to weak willed to NOT use fast travel but thats on you and not a valid excuse on how "it breaks the game"

Oh wow. You barely know me but you make the assumption I do use fast travel, I expect everything to be within a mile from me and that my argument was based solely on quest walking distance.

For starters, quest givers usually don't do quests themselves because it involves matters that are out of their reach because they're either incapable of doing it, it involves fighting strong foes or they lack the knowledge of something the player fortunately has. I don't think I've ever seen a quest where someone says 'Oh, go get this for me because it's too far away'.

Secondly, the inclusion of a fast travel system means there is no other travelling system. It means there are no boats from Anvil to the Imperial City, no Guild Teleportation, or anything else. You either fast travel or you walk.

And then, when I mentioned walking distance during quests, I didn't mean the objective had to be right outside the quest giver's house, did I? Walking from Anvil to Leyawiin to raid some cave that could easily have been placed near Skingrad isn't that much fun. Especially when you've walked the same roads and paths over and over already.

That said, I don't really oppose fast travel. I never said it "broke the game". I think it's good that it's there. I just admit there are things that need to be revised.

Regardless, I see you're happy that you won, so let's leave it at that. No more posts on this subject will come from me.

look nyk i simply answered you no need to get [&@%!], but you use the same flawed logic as everyone else that has opposed it and it finally gets to me, whats the difference between using using a stationary boat or bug thing then using the map. they both dont add anything personally but at least fast travel you can roleplay it however you want, meet a caravan on the street, befriend a friendly bird monster whatever blows your skirt up. its not that big of a deal just that you can do it anywhere you wish.

and plus i doubt the bethesda developers were thinking "lol lets put the start of this quest at one end of the map and the quest location at the end of the map to force those [&@%!] to use our ingenious fast travel system!" adventuring is a job, dont like the quest dont take the job its as simple as that this is a roleplaying game after all.

If you disagree about something, please do so in a way that is civilised. Debate rather than argue.

Also. This thread isn't even about fast travel or the lack thereof. Please stay on topic, I'm sure there's a thread discussing fast travel somewhere around here.

How would offline Multiplayer and/or PvP be better than online?
I see each as bad as the other, from my viewpoint, but from the viewpoint of someone who wants it; Surely co-op over the 'net would be handier?
Or have people with gaming PCs/consoles started lugging them around to their friend's house every weekend?
I only really see internet cafés gaining from it.

And offline MP for console users (And that's where the majority of the target demographic is) means splitscreen- The thought of which is making me shudder.

Not necessarily, it would take a lot more resources to make the internet one run nicely. The fairness system would also be a major factor in all of it. People can be picky, it makes us different.

Not questioning why it's in the Poll, just wondering what someone's reasons for voting for it would be- I just think if you're gonna do something new or controversial you should go all the way and make it as accessible as possible.
If there was online MP I could at least play with you lot, but since no one I know IRL cares about Skyrim I doubt I'd get more than two weeks during which they'd be playing it before they moved onto the next new game.

I didn't vote that way - I'm definitely more of a solo player, but for me offline would simply be better because of my internet constraints - I have 2 GB a month that I can use, and a murderous internet connection. Online would be impossible for me, while offline would mean that boyfriend and I could do something together.

The idea of spliscreen also gives me the tingles. But i don't know, i have a few friends who all play Oblivion and we all think that it would be damn cool to raid a cave together.

Imagine, you're the assassin, you sneak up on an unsuspecting target. Just as you stab them in the back, you jump away while i, the mage, send in a quick paralyze followed by a sheet of fire while you switch to your bow and send in a few arrows to eliminate any targets stiil standing.

One of my ideas of heaven.

And i don't understand how people think it somehow takes away from roleplaying. I mean if i'm a warrior playing with an mage, I can only heal myself with potions made by my friend who knows alchemy or get him to cast a restore spell. Likewise, you could actually play a mage with no health because you have a human shield who actually understands what to do.

But, unless I win the lottery and can have 2 tvs with 2 networked x-boxes, or better yet, 2 top-o-the-line computers networked, i'll stick with just great single player action.

Cause i'm old and have no interest in playing with hyperactive 12 yr olds with a vocabulay of only 5 expletives. That's enough from me, I see some kids playing on my lawn...

That's a nice example; Unless the dungeons are as cramped as Oblivion's were.
You won't be able to fling a paralyze spell past the assassin if you can't see past him. :P
Which requires friendly fire being off, and some form of auto-lock to lock onto targets.
Neither of which I'd really want in Skyrim's combat system.

MP roleplaying is weird- I only once tried it on a private server on WoW, and it was okay, but it's hard since I'm used to making the decisions on what happens where and when if I'm RP'ing, and with more than one person you have to compromise.

Actually, what I'm talking about, friendly fire is a must. That's what I'm implying by the last part of my post. I only want to play with people who are mature enough to understand that that paralyze spell was not aimed at you. Because there is no auto lock, sometimes I might hit my partner. And close quarters only makes that sweeter. (the best MP co-op level ever is 'The Library from Halo) Cause when it's right, it is as sweet as the tender touch of the perfect lover. And when it's wrong, you find out if you can step up to the plate and play 8)

But like I said but perhaps did not make clear, I only want MP if it means that single player is at least 100% and Mp is at least 99%. Otherwise, I'll just take single player :D

And I understand what you're talking about with RPing with others. I've only really done it with 2 friends both of which get the same kick out of it as I do. When discussing Oblivion, we always set challanges like, you can ONLY use 5 active skills. and they must be major. It's really fun, but I'd guess very few people would enjoy such hardcore gaming
