Aside from fast travel, are you required to walk/ride (vs a travelling system with boats, caravans, etc)? Do quests force you to travel from one side of the map to the other because they assume you're going to fast travel? If you answered yes to both questions, then you can see what the problem is.
I have no problem with more options. They just tend to subtract from previous ones.
ok im sorry but i dont see that as an option, if it was easy it wouldnt be a quest, the mission giver would just do it themselves. its assumed you can take the time to TRAVEL from place to place because your an ADVENTURER. i mean seriously? do you expect everything to be withing a 1 mile radius from you? im sorry if your to weak willed to NOT use fast travel but thats on you and not a valid excuse on how "it breaks the game"
Oh wow. You barely know me but you make the assumption I
do use fast travel, I expect everything to be within a mile from me
and that my argument was based solely on quest walking distance.
For starters, quest givers usually don't do quests themselves because it involves matters that are out of their reach because they're either incapable of doing it, it involves fighting strong foes or they lack the knowledge of something the player fortunately has. I don't think I've ever seen a quest where someone says 'Oh, go get this for me because it's too far away'.
Secondly, the inclusion of a fast travel system means there is no other travelling system. It means there are no boats from Anvil to the Imperial City, no Guild Teleportation, or anything else. You either fast travel or you walk.
And then, when I mentioned walking distance during quests, I didn't mean the objective had to be right outside the quest giver's house, did I? Walking from Anvil to Leyawiin to raid some cave that could easily have been placed near Skingrad isn't that much fun. Especially when you've walked the same roads and paths over and over already.
That said, I don't really oppose fast travel. I never said it "broke the game". I think it's good that it's there. I just admit there are things that need to be revised.
Regardless, I see you're happy that you won, so let's leave it at that. No more posts on this subject will come from me.
