Re: Games of 2011
Kingdoms of amalaur is comming out this fall.... I want to try it out considering my favorite author is working on it (R A Salvatore)
But the graphics from the screenies seem too cartoonish.... Look at oblivion, it came out years ago and its graphics are still great for 2010. This game seems like it was a bit laziley textured, and the trailer is kind of unrealistic

Is Little Big Planet 2 the first 'big' game coming out this year?

Re: Games of 2011
After my big disappointment in Mass Effect 2, I'm quite wary in playing ME3, so I admit I'm not particularly looking forward to it. Hopefully that Game Informer mag will have any informations to put any fears of Skyrim being less good than Oblivion away. After that... I'm not really looking for anything really, will maybe try Portal 2 (never tried the first) or LA Noire. Diablo III looks terrible though, as Starcraft II and Warcraft III do too.

Blimey. Are you trying to take my mantle as 'UESP's Most Critical'?!Stendarr wrote:After my big disappointment in Mass Effect 2, I'm quite wary in playing ME3, so I admit I'm not particularly looking forward to it.
...and talking of BioWare...
Dragon Age 2 - I trust Bio in delivering a great product, but I am slightly bracing for impact re the changes. I love Mass Effect - and I loved Dragon Age Origins. But I do NOT want to play Dragon Age: Mass Effect: I'd rather my PC retained her/his similiarities with Gordon Freeman in not speaking, and I don't want Origins' combat to turn into Mass Effect's atmospheric but ultimately shallow encounters. Having said that, I'm still really looking forward to playing it, and seeing if BioWare can keep pushing the envelope with stuningly written characters.
Mass Effect 3 - because it's Mass Effect 3 (though the dev time is concerning).
Test Drive Unlimited 2 - any game where you can drive a Ferrari 360CS to buy a mansion - and pick up a pair of heels on the way - is alright by my books! In my design ethos that 'every game should be more like Fable 2', I loved TDU's mix of open-world racing, buying stuff, and fiddling with your avatar. If TDU2 really has more of the like? I'll be chuffed.
Forza 4 - a little bit 'meh' on this one, as it's another title that's arriving too soon after [the excellent] 3. Then again GT5 took an absolute age, and there wasn't much to show for such dev time. So maybe Turn 10 can come up with something surprising.
Deus Ex: HR - I'm wary of the Japanese influences, and don't want DE to turn into MGS. But if the same writers from Invisible War are retained, it'll probably be a brilliantly written slice of future hokum.
Skyrim - as I don't expect anything like a return to Morrowind's liberating/merciless design approach - and with my piece of cardboard ready... - I hope to enjoy it for what is IS, and not for what it ISN'T (which is how I treated Oblivion). If anything resembling a 'story' turns up, I'll count it as a bonus!
Blade Kitten 2 - I'm guessing I'll be in a minority looking forward to this one, but I enjoyed the first part, and will definitely be DL'ing part 2 when it arrives. Nice visuals too. Kit Ballard's a good protagonist, and despite the floaty physics she could whip around the screen with fluidity and ease.
More Half-Life - here's hoping...

Forgot one, potentially a biggie.
Marvel VS Capcom 3 - whilst I was no great lover of MvC2, I am a Marvel fan and a huge admirer of Capcom's S/SFIV. It sure as heck [probably] won't feature my fave Marvel character (Kitty Pryde), but if they can manage to balance characters like Amateratsu vs Gouki (if he's in it) or the Hulk, then it'll be ridiculously fun to play.

Ahh well, by your reckoning (by reading your rant) it seems like a colossal fail in the likes of RTS games. Much like Halo Warsvideogmer314 wrote:Oh. I know that it was released in North America in March.
No great loss though, i have many other games to turn my attention to. (hence the large list in my earlier post)

Diablo 3
But, Mass Effect 3 should be good. I'm wondering if this will end the reaper threat, or just Shepard's story arc.

I'm willing to overlook this heinous error because you've got the words 'Deus Ex' in your list. Do you know the release date for it? I keep finding different ones per website. Oh, and what about Mass Effect 3?Dragonov wrote: TES IV: Skyrim

Re: Games of 2011
You did miss some.
Dead Space 2 (though it's already out)
Duke Nukem Forever
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Also I'm looking immensely forward to Portal 2 and Duke Nukem (not because I'll be playing it but because I think someone I watch Let's Play will).

Re: Games of 2011
Well, ideally i would buy so many games this year.
But on my budget i would probably choose;
TES:V
Homefront
Portal 2
The last guardian
I may be interested in getting DA:2 if it wasn't so...... Linear
I really enjoyed DA:O; it's multiple dialogue options, tactical combat, varied characters. However the game still had a linear feel.
Now, with the lack of choice (race etc), dialogue wheel, I'm unsure whether i would like it.

Really? I'm the ONLY one on this forum with any interest in Guild Wars 2? Shame, but more for me.

I would love to show any interest in Guild Wars 2, or Star Wars: The Old Republic, but y'know, over here our internet usage is either limited and extortionate. Hint: I can't afford the extortionate, unlimited kind on account of having no job and not being a successful writer yet.

I just discovered the trailer for Armoured Core 5
I'd like to review my priority list with this new information
1st: Skyrim
2nd: AC 5
3rd: Deux Ex
4th: Metal Rage
And thats just the top four. There is about 8 PC games on top of that as well as numerous other console games.
