I did try to get grass on but I forgot that I have Streamline which includes that Streamsmooth thing. Basically constantly changes your graphics settings to get the best framerate and it just so happened that all the grass vanished when I took the shots. :Angry:

The tfc console command is also useful - you leave your body down below and soar up, up and away :D

This is why I got rid of Streamline and I am not touching it again. Even if I turned that stuff off it kept changing my view distance. Like the view distance is a problem for a modern computer :roll: I would say try Oblivion Stutter Remover instead, unless you are using other Streamline functions.

So, Vee/Lord Sheogorath decided to go shopping for the new Madness and Amber weapons to test it all out, but first she needed some materials...
Oh god I had no idea they had giant phallic stingers
On the way, she decided to visit Dyus and kill him.

yet after a day of searching the isles, she found only one stump of amber and one bar of madness ore, which she then decided to trade.
I'll cut you!! Cutter looks unphased, p ... . excited!
Having a chat with Dumag Gro-bonk after getting a dagger

So that is my other character, the dunmer Vee. She is a little hard to play because she is lvl 40 now, has a bad class (thief-ish) and isn't efficiently levelled at all. She's only maxed 2 stats out by now. Srsly. Compared to my golden saint dude with a stat total way lower than other races... yeah. Also Atronach, I hate it because I love using magic so much now.

Been reinstalling Oblivion in the past few days, I think I have most my mods back now

But things sure look different, like
Where did all the trees go further away? huh!
I don't remember shadows being this sharp and harsh???
So it looks like I will have to find some tree distant meshes and some softer shadows - I wonder which mod did that though??? :mrgreen:

If you have trouble with the config file producing a lot of errors (I think he made it easier to use though), let me know and I'll give you mine. It is DarnUI compatible.

@krisCrash,

I thought I'd share something with you (and other members as well). Possible Oblivion.ini fixes for the rendering problems in your last 2 screenshots...

Trees not being rendered?

bEnableTrees=1
> 1=on, 0=off. Default=1. Turns trees on/off. Yours is probably 0 (off) which is why you're seeing NO trees.

Ugly shadows on NPC's?

bActorSelfShadowing=0
> 1=on, 0=off. Default=1. Turns self-shadowing on/off for actors (NPC's and Creatures). Your pic of the Golden Saint Guard shows it's on, so make sure you have the options below set correctly. If you can't get self-shadowing to look correct, turn it off.

iShadowMapResolution=256
> Texture resolution used for shadow maps. Default=256. You can set this to a power of 2, e.g. 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048. Lower means blockier shadow edges. Higher means finer detailed shadow edges. The lower you set this, the higher iShadowFilter needs to be to blur shadow edges.

iShadowFilter=2
> Number of passes used for blurring shadow edges to create soft shadows. Default=2. You can set it higher for softer shadow edges. Some people like it at 5 or even 10! Warning: The more passes the game is using, the greater the performance impact of soft shadows. It's better to leave it at the default and increase iShadowMapResolution instead.

My settings are bActorSelfShadowing=0, iShadowMapResolution=1024 and iShadowFilter=3. I don't miss self-shadowing, but I like my shadows fairly finely detailed and soft-edged.

Hope this helps. :wink:

Hi H8ball you are late, I used a tweaking guide to figure out it all :P
H8Ball wrote: Trees not being rendered?

No, trees are rendered, turns out the _far trees are NOT included in vanilla Anequina, but come from the RAEVWD mod, which I hate, and will not get. Not even their tree meshes, the optimization is CRUD, generally a 50% reduction from the normal mesh, instead of removing 90-95%, or making flat image plane trees like normal Oblivion distant trees. Did I say I really hate RAEVWD?
Ugly shadows on NPC's?

bActorSelfShadowing=0

If this is 0, there will be NO shadows. I don't like having people with no shadow under their chin and stuff.
iShadowMapResolution=256

This was actually the problem. Even with ishadowMapResolution=2048 it's still a little rough, so I think I'll just stick to the filtering to soften stuff up. I should note that for direct sunlight, feathered shadows are VERY unrealistic, so a dynamic filtering vs resolution dynamic tweaker would been awesome.

(If interior, use filtering>0, else, use high resolution)
My settings are bActorSelfShadowing=0, iShadowMapResolution=1024 and iShadowFilter=3. I don't miss self-shadowing, but I like my shadows fairly finely detailed and soft-edged.
In my opinion, the filtering had the biggest benefit on self shadows, but I know that is very opinionated. I also do not use antialiasing, which definitely will affect your experience with this?

Thanks for taking the time though.
A mod must have altered these settings previously, as I have never touched them.

Alright, folks. It's time for the 'Nanza's Shenanigans!

First I decided to explore the forest..

By the Gods! Idyllic bear family!!

Move forward, lady, the light is green!

Then I found a mountain and decided to climb it..

I'm the king of the world!

Then I found an oblivion gate..

Storm Atronach vs Ogre! Who'll win the grand prize?

Congratulations! You've won a lifetime membership in the Yoghurt Lovers' Club!

Then I found something veeerry interresting..

Oh my God! Is it really the random pillar from the legends!?

Then I visited a farm when suddenly the battle music started playing..

The sheep have got me surrounded!

Retreat!! Retreat!!

With joined efforts, the farmers and the sheep, but mostly the sheep, managed to kill the intruder..

..But not without paying the biggest prize of all: the prize of lives.

Later that day I went to the funeral of a very dear friend of mine..

We will all miss Mr. Crabsworth, because he was a not only a good friend, but a good crab. He always did what was best for the people around him. Sadly he did not write a will before he died at the too early age of 23 crab-years. However, he did say to me in private that if he would die before me, I had permission to marry his hot crab-wife *switchy eyes*
Earth to earth, dust to dust.

Then I met this guy..

*DRAMATIC LOOK OVER SHOULDER!!*

And we stumbled upon yet another oblivion gate..

Yeah, he's screwed.

And I found this guy laying in the grass, yelling things..

I think he's on acid or something.

And that concludes the Nanza's Shenanigans until next time.
