INTERVIEWS

Post by Cactus »

As a bit of a special treat for you guys, we took a note from Kestral and instead of sitting down for a single interview by one person, we all collaborated and made an EPIC interview for you guys to read. Combined with the questions you guys asked, every Moderator asked every other Moderator questions. I'll warn you, it's a LOT of reading, but I think you'll all enjoy what you see. So, sit back, get comfy, grab up some figgie pudding before it runs out, and enjoy our SUPER SECRET SURPRISE!! The following are my own questions seperated by the interviewer. The others shall post as they finish/get ready/can be bothered.

JOSJIE's questions
Spoiler:
Q. Do you think you'll still be here when TESV comes out? And are you going to buy TESV?
    • A: I see absolutely no reason that I wouldn't be here. Why? Do you know something I don't? Is that a threat? Anyway, I'll definitely be buying TES V when it comes out.
Q. Will you continue playing games for the rest of your life?
    • A: I'm really really really really REALLY lazy, so most definitely. I just hope games don't keep with this same trend of dumbing things down.
Q. Do you believe in aliens?
    • A: I don't "believe" in aliens, but I'm open to the idea. I've heard it said that's it's rather arrogant to think of us at the only intelligent beings in the universe, and I tend to agree. Couple that with the sheer statistical data of the massive amounts of planets in the universe and it's not difficult to imagine a plethora of planets dotting the galaxies with intelligent life.
Q. What's your favorite Bethesda Softworks game and why?
    • A: To be honest I can't really pick a favourite between the big three: Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout 3. Each is completely rewarding and fun in its own way, and I love them all for different reasons. If I had to choose one I'd have to go with Fallout 3 I guess, because I get more enjoyment out of it overall, I think. It takes everything from Morrowind and Oblivion that I love and mixes them with a post-apocalyptic world which is just amazing. For you nay-sayers out there, don't worry--Morrowind is VERY close on its heals as second place.
Q. If Bethesda would offer you a well-paid job, would you accept?
    • A: No, I wouldn't. I love their games and video games in general, but I don't think I'd wanna be in the industry.
Q. Even if that involves moving to the USA?
    • A: I'm LEAVING The USA, so that makes no sense. Assuming this is in the future and I live in Germany or whatever... no I wouldn't. I'm leaving for a reason and Bethesda won't change my mind.
Q. This is our four year anniversary but how long have you been here (first visit on these forums)?
    • A: I have no idea, technically. I may have lurked or I may have signed up and registered instantly. I honestly have no idea. People think I jest, but I have a number of er.. neurological conditions that impair my memory. It happens. I registered 14 September, as can be seen next to my posts, and I first posted a few days later with the name of a character I made.
Q. You're in prison. You're getting bored and ask a guard for something to do. You've got two options:
  1. HD television with some movies, Lord of the Rings, Monthy Python etc.
  2. Computer (no internet connection!) with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.
    • A: That's a hard choice, especially since you mention Monty Python. If I could have all three games as suggested by your question, I think I'd choose that. Not that it's better than Python, I'd just ultimately get more enjoyment out of thousands of hours of gameplay from the three games as opposed to a couple hours for the movies. Plus you can replay them and have fun and that's not so easy with movies.
Q. Of all the members that have left UESP, who do you miss the most (and why)?
    • A: See the above question.
Q. Do you sometimes enjoy banning someone or deleting posts?
    • A: Not really. I actually really hate it. I always feel a bit uncomfortable when it comes up, but it's my job and I have to so I just suck it up and go for it. Ultimately it's for the best as I think I make the forums a better and more enjoyable place to be. You guys should try it sometime. I'm the only one that gets anything done around here.
Q. Do you care anything about your post count? And what's your opinion about the fact that the General forum does not count towards post count?
    • A: It was my idea. Actually it wasn't. ACTUALLY I don't remember the conversation when it happened, so it may have been my idea. I dunno. I'll take blame if you want. Anyway, I'm 100% behind it. Post count is utterly meaningless and just promotes spam by a lot of people, and as this is first and foremost a TES message board, only TES related posts should count.
Q. Oblivion forum (or Morrowind) or General?
    • A: Well, my job requires I say Morrowind, but I'll admit I post a lot more in General. In the great Post Count Loss of 2009 I took a MAJOR hit in post count, which I actually liked because my 3000+ posts made me feel like a huge spammer, despite a mere 4/day average. Guess it just adds up over the years.
Q. Have you ever considered quitting as a moderator?
    • A: Oh boy. Um.. ask Codex. Every day? There are a lot of things I really love about being a Mod, like a sense of accomplishment and the way people started commenting on how the forums had improved within the months following my appointment. There are, however, lots of things I hate about it. Overall it's more rewarding, but there are times when the stress makes me want to just give up. Luckly Caz and Codex are incredibly annoying stubborn supportive and they've helped me through it each time.
Q. Have you ever played World of Warcraft or a different MMORPG?
    • A: I saw someone play WoW once. Pass.
Q. If Oblivion becomes real-life, what would be your race, class, birthsign, looks, attitude, status, rank....
    • A: Um, yknow those Imperial beggers in the Waterfront? Imagine "Cactus the Crippled" and you've basically got all those questions answered.
CACTUS's questions (because I had to answer my own too)
Spoiler:
Q. What originaly brought you to the forums?
    • A: Funny story, that. I actually have absolutely no idea. Wait.. I answered this question for Kestral recently.
Q. Why did you stay?
    • A: Generally-- I stayed were the friendly people, the open nature of everyone here, and just the sense of comradery and fun this place had while still being a center for knowledge and information involving the games, and if you'll take a look in General, any other random thing you may want to know about.
Specifically-- Weka and Jeff. I was an Oblivion fan at the time (okay well.. I still am) and they were very active at the time in the Oblivion forum. They were both incredibly friendly and caring and helpful and it just instantly made me feel at home. I think their absence here is one of the saddest things I can think of. I miss them both.
Q. Good or bad, what's the single most memorable experiance in your time as forum moderator?
    • A: Well, becoming mod, actually. See, I became mod like.. last December or January, but it was in the works for about three months prior. Not only that, but I actually quit the forums and found out about a week later Codex had been looking for me to ask me a question. I finally caught him online and asked him what was up and he basically said "Well, I was gonna make you a mod, but I guess I'll find someone else." at which point I proverbially fell out of my chair and told him I'd return to the forums post-haste.
Q. Seriously though, who thought you'd make a good Moderator? Did you pay them off?
    • A: Apparently Codex and some others did. I was hoping to get access to secret "Why did we pick Cactus?" information when I got access to top-secret Moderator files kept in a secret military bunker in Arizona, but as it turns out it must have taken place completely over MSN and they didn't bother with transcriptions. Either that or Codex picked me because my name starts with the letter C. It's probably that one.
Q: Do you think I'm pretty?
    • A: I think you're gorgeous, man!
Q: Because for some reason I can't fathom it's a popular question, if you could snog any member of the forums, who would it be and why?
    • A: Dogmantra, of course. :P
DOGMANTRA's questions
Spoiler:
Q. Will you be my friend?
    • A: You're already in my top 5. What more do you want, man?!
Q. Describe your favourite pair of socks.
    • A: Every pair of socks I own is identical to every other pair, so I'll just describe my socks generally. They're all black and made of cotton. When word "properlly" they stretch up to about halfway up my calf. When I wear shows, however, I always pull them up all the way, slip on my shoe, then push them down so they bunch up.
Q. You are able to send a message to yourself from five years ago. What do you say?
    • A: "Ricky ol' chap, pick up a few German lessons and start saving up money. In five years you're gonna be severaly screwed over and you'll need it. Trust me on this."
Q. Socks: Yes or no?
    • A: I almost always wear socks.
Q. Tapdancing: Yes or no?
    • A: Personally I don't know how, but I think it looks nifty. I secretly want to learn to tap dance. I don't think I've ever told anyone that.
Q. This sentence structure: Yes or no?
    • A: It looks nice as long as it isn't overused. It's cool here.
Q. Do you like bubbles?
    • A: Depends on the bubble. Blowing bubbles with soap = awesome. Blowing bubbles with chewing gum = lame.
Q. How many times have you been on stage, performing? What were you performing?
    • A: A few times whilst playing drums in my band and I did a couple school plays or whatever in lower grades, and I once had a recorder recital in like.. kindergarden.
Q. Will you marry me?
    • A: Can I think about it?
Q. If you could be anyone who has ever lived, who would you be?
    • A: Because of my humility I'm already the most awesome and greatest person ever. Why would I want to be anyone else?
Q. If you could change one detail about yourself, what would it be?
    • A: A bit more control over my emotions. I used to control them like they had toggle switches, now I have difficulties.
Q. Say something about moderating the forums!
    • A: Green is my favourite colour!
Q. What's your proudest moment?
    • A: When I went to put Fallout 3 from "Normal" to "Very Hard" and learned I'd been playing on Very Hard for ages without noticing. No, I'm kidding. Graduation high school, maybe? I mean.. I didn't even care about walking and I was gonna do the whole cap and gown bit, but my grandfather made me, paid for it all. Looking back I remember feeling spectacularly proud that 14 years of crap was finally behind me.
Another moment that rings true though fewer people will understand is when, after two years, my brother and I finished our first album with our band. The day the discs arrived at my place and I was looking at 50 shrink-wrapped discs with my band's name on it. Tht was a proud moment. A lot of hard work and effort and time went into it, and it was nice seeing a physical result.
Q. Are you annoyed that some of my questions were sensible?
    • A: Sensible questions are nearly as informative about a person as silly ones, so no I don't mind at all.
Q. We all know you use the UK spellings, but why exactly do you prefer them?
    • A: I prefer UK spellings for two simple reasons. By which I mean three. First of all they're "correct" in that they're older and the American spellings were changed by my great-etc-uncle just to be different from England. Second, I just think they look better, to be honest. Color vs colour? Colour looks niftier. Plus the US has this thing where using a UK spelling makes it fancy, like magazines naming themselves Glamour magazines because it looks fancy. Idiots. Still has this certain flair to it because of that. Thirdly, I have a significant number of UK friends, and I'm sucking up.
Q. If I gave you a gun with a single bullet and a time machine that worked for one return trip, what would you do? Why?
    • A: I'd ask you why you randomly handed me all that stuff, because I'd be curious as to why. My first impression is that YOU had a reason.
Q. Would you say the quality of Heroes over time is more like a negative parabola or a negative cubic?
    • A: I think a traditional parabola, actually. Heroes started off really strong and stayed that way, then because of the Writers Strike it dropped in quality because of a bunch of last-minute rewrites and then having to base an entire seasons on those last minute changes. This seasons and the previous to an extent have been much stronger and I think the show is finally getting as good and interesting to follow as it was to begin with.
Edit: The current run of episodes, as of today the anniversary, are really awesome. I'm really loving where the series is going right now, and every time that "To be continued..." flashes on screen I want to scream. Their best skill is pissing you off when the show ends because you want more.
Q. Would you ever say anything was like a negative parabola or a negative cubic, other than their respective graphs?
    • A: No sir, I wouldn't.
Q. Which is funnier, irony or coppery making obscure references?
    • A: I'll go with irony because that was a terrible joke.
Q. Do you think anyone but ourselves use the "Who is Online" function on the forums?
    • A: I know Dragour, Codex, Caz, and Vivec's Tears all use it, but I've never noticed anyone else.
Q. If you ever met your evil twin, what would you say and slash or do to them?
    • A: That already happened years ago. Let's just say I'm the winner.
Q. Is there any problem chainsaws can't solve?
    • A: Scrabble and hula hoop competitions. It's nearly, but not quite, as versatile as using duct tape.
Q. Does it irk you in the slightest that I've outdone you in volume of questions?
    • A: Not at all, it just means you had to do more work than me. I'm lazy so it makes me happy.

Q. Have you ever *GASP* trolled on a forum? How about 4chan? Time to reveal your dark side :Twisted Evil:
    • A: Well, my very first forum, except not really. I joined and we were joking around and apparently that simple act made several people quit and I was then accused of hacking someone's email. I don't really get it, and then the forum died soon after. Talk about an ego trip, destroying an entire forum by simply showing up!

Q. Why does Dogmantra have any sort of power? I mean, seriously?
    • A: I've asked myself that same question dozens of times, and it all comes down to religion and politics, so I can't tell you without breaking the rules. No.. wait, actually it's because he paid me £500 and agreed to cook my meals for me every day. He's actually been slacking on the meals, and besides his sammiches aren't anywhere as good as a woman's would be, so I'm considering having him removed. Or killed. I'm not sure. Perhaps both.

Q. I hear it's not easy being green, or prickly. Take us through a day
    • A: I usually wake up as the sun comes up, whenever that is. I tend to stretch my arms out and photosynthesize as much as I can before noon. Around noon I call forth my regal and royal musical servants to play me a melody of my choosing. I then take dinner which usually consists of about whatever nutrients I've absorbed throughout the evening and morning prior. At about two in the afternoon I like to spend about an hour shining my crown, then another hour making sure it's cocked at just the right angle. I then spend ten minutes explaining to people my avatar doesn't have hair--THAT is my crown. By the time the sun's going down I'm getting tired, but I always manage to get in a bit of growing every day--my annual goal is about an inch or so. Finally it gets late and it's time to sleep, so I nestle into a nice comfy patch of desert sand with my roots.

Aside from that, it can be difficult. I mean, I was mocked quite a bit when I was younger because of my spines and because my rate of growth is so slow and because.. this is a bit embarrassing, because I have a shallow root system..
I did have one good friend, his name was Prickly Pair, so we watched each others' backs. It was good times back in cactus-school, but it could have been better.
Guy No. 2-
Q. What is the name of your most favorite band?
    • A: It was CKY for years, but the spot has in recent months been stolen by Rush. They're brilliant. And Canadian.
Guy No. 2-
Q. What is the name of your most favourite album which may or may not be by your fav band..?
    • A: Oh.. uh.. I honestly have no idea. I like random songs off lots of albums. I suppose you could say the CKY albums all tie for the top three spot because they're the only albums by any band where I like every single song.
Guy No. 2-
Q. What is the name of your most favorite song?
    • A: I don't really have one, but I do have a favourite Rush song, so I'll just go with that. YYZ is awesome!
Guy No. 2-
Q. Do you honestly enjoy frequenting the forums? :Twisted Evil:
    • A: Meh, it could be worse, but having to go through every post on every forum every day can get a bit old at times, or when I'm just not in the mood. Or awake. Heh.. seriously though, I do enjoy reading through the posts. I may not always post everywhere, but there are a lot of amusing things that go on in the forums and I get a kick out of it. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't keep coming back, now would I?
Masser-
Q. Cactus, what happened to your old avatar?
    • A: It's strange that you remember it, but yeh um.. it was just supposed to be a "joke" it wasn't around very long. But since you remember it so fondly, here it is for you all to enjoy.

      That's me from when I was about 15. Lulz-worthy, I know.

Q. What is your name?!
    • A: Sir Ricky F. Cactus II, Cactus of the Cactus Empire!!
Wolf-Q. What is your quest?!
    • A: To destroy spammers and trolls for good!!
Wolf-
Q. What is your favourite colour?!
    • A: Green, of course!

Q. What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?!
    • A: ~35 km/h, when foraging, though they're capable of speeds of ~65 km/h

Q. What is the capital of Assyria?
    • A: Well, since the most basic verb used in conjunction with Assyria is "was" I don't think I can technically answer that. However, it was originally Assur, and in fact Assyria was named for it.
Reaper67-
Q. Do you keep a log of how many rules a user has violated?
    • A: [removed by an admin]
Reaper67-
Q. What does it take to become a moderator/how do you get your own string made (ie. Part Mods)
    • A:
      1. Luck, be obviously helpful, a one-time payment of 5000 USD to each of us, a user name starting with the letter C, and one other quality which can't be named because if we even told you, it'd be instantly nullified. It's so secret, we haven't even come up with it yet. If any of us figured it out, we'd be instantly kicked off the team.
      2. Boredom on our part, but now that we have Dogmantra the Figgie Puddin' parties never stop, so don't expect a new "team" to show up any time soon ever.
scribbane-
Q. Why is my name your favorite? And detailed answer, nothing like "because", "i dont know", or "marshmallow"
    • A: Because, I don't... marshmallow?
      *cough*

So anyway, it's because for one I like the word "bane" and I just think being the bane of all scribs is so utterly ridiculous and over the top that I can't help but love it. It's just awesome that you consider yourself the very ruiner of the cute little scribs' lives.

Q. If a one handed person is clapping in the woods where a lone tree falls onto a screened door submarine, parked next to a helicoptor with an ejector seat, each containing a solar powered flashlight and a brail television set, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? And why?
    • A: Approximately as much as the the square root of the volume of a small container of fat-free strawberry multiplied by the sum of the total number jokes told and jokes laughed at by middle-aged bartenders, all divided by ten.
Why? Because it is directly and existentially linked with the existence and control of non-rabid buffalo mice.
videogmer314-
Q. Chuck Norris can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.
    • A: Chuck Norris CANNOT be hit by anyone, nor can he miss when he tries to hit someone. You can see the conundrum, I'm sure; it's basically the perfect example of the "unmovable object meets unstoppable force" idea. Given as Chuck Norris is Divine by nature, I believe in short the answer is "If he wanted to."
The Dog Whisperer-
Q. Give us a short, real life, anecdote.
    • A: One day in New York City, Sidney Morgenbesser, then Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Columbia University Ricky Davis , a Moderator on the UESP forums, put his pipe in his mouth as he was ascending the subway steps. A policeman approached and told him that there was no smoking on the subway. Morgenbesser Ricky pointed out that he was leaving the subway, not entering it, and that he had not yet lit up. The cop repeated his injunction. Morgenbesser Ricky repeated his observation. After a few such exchanges, the cop saw he was beaten and fell back on the oldest standby of enfeebled authority: "If I let you do it, I'd have to let everyone do it." To this the old philosopher replied, "Who do you think you are—Kant Codex?" His last word was misconstrued, and the whole question of the Categorical Imperative had to be hashed out down at the police station. Morgenbesser Ricky won the argument.
satan_n_stuff-
Q. Guess who's back?
    • A: Are you the real Slim Shady, or yet another impostor?
satan_n_stuff-
Q. What is your favourite ES game/expansion?
    • A: Oddly enough those two questions don't mesh well for me. My favourite game has to be Morrowind, partially because Dogmantra would kill me if I said something else and partially because it's true. However, at risk of defenestration at his hands, I htink my favourite expansion is Shivering Isles. Actually, yknow what.. I just changed my mind. I mean, it's technically true but half the things I loved about Shivering Isles I later learned were more or less copied from Morrowind--like the entire look of the world. I'll retract that and go with Bloodmoon because the story was fun and werewolves are awesome.
satan_n_stuff-
Q. what comes after 2?
    • A: One. Wait..
satan_n_stuff-
Q. I am allowed to edit this, right?
    • A: Yes!
Jpot-
Q. Why is your name what it is? And not "because I use it everywhere". How did you come up with it in the first place?
    • A: Well, I have to admit that "I use it everywhere" is true for me. At first though it was something to be annoying, which is oddly appropriate since I'm pretty annoying. Anyway, it started off as me and my brother using "cactus" to annoy people on Instant messengers--no matter what they said we'd simply reply with "cactus" because it was funny and cactus was just a solid, random word. After that we started using it as an adjective basically meaning "really awesome." Strangely the first use of the word like that I recall was me saying to my brother "It's cactus to say cactus." I still don't quite remember the transition from "That's cactus!" to "I am the Cactus" so I can't help you there, but at some point it became my title. I was Ricky, the Cactus. And.. it stuck.
Dlarsh-
Q. What are you opinions on the current status of the UESPwiki, and what, if anything, would you do to improve it?
    • A: Serious cat is serious.
So, I think the look, style, and general feel of the wiki is dead-on. It's easy to navigate, easy to use, and practically every tiny bit of information you could possibly gleam from the games or construction sets is there if you look hard enough from the schedule of random Oblivion NPCs to incredibly vague Easter eggs from Daggerfall. My only real problem are the server issues, which can't entirely be (easily) helped. As a frequent um.. frequenter, of the forums it's annoying making a post only to hit submit and find the site has gone down and my 300 words are gone.
CODEX's questions
Spoiler:
Q. For how long have you slept continously?
    • A: I once slept for about 36 hours because of my narcolepsy. That was fun. On the opposite side I recently broke my record of around 32 hours by staying away for more than 48, also because of narcolepsy. Yay for screwing with my life!
Q. Have you got any phobias?
    • A: Oh god.. spiders. It's sad, depressing, and pathetic. Ask any number of people and you'll learn I scream like a young girl when I see one and run away.
Q. Have you ever broken a bone?
    • A: Once, by which I mean multiple times simultaneously. I was hit by a car back in 200x. I was on a bicycle and he hit me head-on going about 60mph. As the car hit me I was torn off the bike and my face went through the windshield and my left arm was broken cleanly at the wrist. The guy slammed on the brakes and I was thrown into the road and my foot struck the pavement completely shattering most of the bones in my foot. So in short..
      ..yes.
Q. When did you realise you were crazy enough to spend this much time on an internet forum?
    • A: Ha! Well, I dunno when I realised it. I'm not sure I have yet. People comment on my time here and I just look at them like they've gotten something stuck in their teeth. And let's be honest, the sorts of people who don't like people spending so much time online HAVE often got something stuck in their teeth. It's science.
Q. Heard any news from the other provinces?
    • A: They say syndicates of wizards have led a boycott of Imperial goods in the land of the Altmer. The Altmer have powerful wizards; it could become a dangerous situation.
Q. Do you prefer to have your computer desktop clean, or flooded with icons. Q. Have you ever gotten arrested?
    • A: Heh, funny story. Actually it's not at all. My sister stole my checkbook several years ago, wrote lots of checks with money I didn't have, and I was arrested and forced to pay thousands in fines.
Q. Whats the most impressive thing you've made by yourself?
    • A: Oh man, I have to show this off. I love it. I used to draw this webcomic I won't link to because that's advertising, but I drew this one comic that had Jesus rocking out throwing up the devil horns to the song "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be" by AC/DC. A while later I was drawing a funeral scene in a Catholic church so I needed a nice stained glass window, so I spent about 6+ hours taking that rocking Jesus and turning it into the most awesome stained glass design I've ever seen. Oh.. that and I made a video game involving terminators, Darth Vader, and Mulder and Scully. True story.

      Original Rocker Jesus
      The Window
Q. On a scale from one to ten, how odd are you?
    • A: Eleventy-one.
      Oh wait..
CAZ's questions
Spoiler:
Q. Tell us one of the weirdest/craziest moments of your life
    • A: Scroll up and read about my car accident. That was insane. Something I haven't mentioned...
Oh yeh! Several years ago my brother was visiting me for a week, but I had to work. So, he decided to come up to where I worked (Walmart) and hang out while I stocked shelves. So at one point I'm on my fifteen-minute break and we're walking around the store chatting when this guy walks up like we're best friends, stars chatting with us. Now, that in itself isn't so weird, but what was weird is the very first sentence he said to us.. which I sadly can't repeat on the forum.. was asking us if we knew were a strip club was. Apparently we looked the type...
Q. Share one of your happiest memories with us!
    • A: I've told this story 100 times, but one of the happiest memories I have is of Thanksgiving several years ago with my grandparents on my mother's side and my little sister. Instead of having dinner with the family like normal people, my grandparents decided they wanted to go see this piece of property Papa had purchased up in Kentucky. So, we all go and we drag the trip out and get lost about a dozen times. At one point we even ended up going the WRONG WAY around this narrow bend that you see in movies. Yknow, the ones where the road is one-car wide and wrapped around a mountain over a cliff? Yeh. So anyway, we finally find it and it's this gorgeous valley area overlooking this gorgeous old town. We take a bunch of turkey sandwiches, climb this mountain, and sit there eating overlooking the mountains and this lovely town. Best holiday ever.
Q. Tell us about an embarrassing moment
    • A: Bloody hell, woman! What's with you?! Are you TRYING to confuse me.
Oh! I got one! When I finished basic training I had to take a bus home from Fort Benning, Columbus, GA to Statesboro, GA. First of all, it was a crock because if you'll click on this link you'll notice that they're idiots. Second, I had a two-hour stopover in Atlanta. Having just eaten Army food for two months, my first move was to walk four blocks and grab a burger and fries from Burger King. My god.. best food ever. Anyway, I walk back and get stopped about 5 times by people noticing my army-like nature and claiming to be Vetarans and asking for money. I kind of gave them money to shut them up because I was afraid. ANYWAY, I get back and my friend leaves so I'm all alone, and I have no idea how to read the moronic signs they have up. So, I finally get impatient and go and ask a lady and she tells me the bus has already left. What!? Then she looks and notices they haven't pulled away, so I ended up having to run for my life up to this bus that was about to pull off, have them open the storage area up and put my bags in, then walk down an aisle with people staring at the late guy.
Q. If you could go back in time, and were asked again, would you still choose to be a moderator?
    • A: Apple-solutely. It's had plenty of "downs" but I generally speaking have a blast doing this. Banning and warning people helping people with problems, protecting innocents from vile spambots, and kicking out the rare obnoxious and randomly rude person is why I do it.
Q. If you were to choose one word each to describe the other moderators, what would it be?
    • A: Alphabetically...

CACTUS
Spoiler:
You've been gone for about six weeks searching for dinosaur bones. Did you enjoy yourself and are you looking forward to repeating the even in the future?
Yes and yes. Although I missed my online contacts ;)
Did dinosaurs really exist or did you just make them up to get famous?
Psssht! It was our secret!
What is your favourite dinosaur?
I don't have one.
If dinosaurs were recreated via genetics and cloning and placed into a large theme park would you visit? Why or why not?
I probably would. That'd be something worth seeing.

You've been studying archaeology for a while; what got you interested in that?
Probably writing my leaving paper in school about the origins of Halloween. I've always been interested in old cultures though.
What's the most interesting thing you discovered whilst on your digs?
Rock climbing.
How difficult or strange is it to take all of your classes in a language that isn't your native language?
Not difficult or strange... after over 11 ½ years I'm starting to get used to it ;)
Come up with a question of your own and answer it.
(Since people are expecting this by now...) So you're an archaeologist, eh? Find any dinosaurs yet?
ARCHAEOLOGISTS ARE NOT PALAEONTOLOGISTS!!!

What originally brought you to the forums?
Looking for an Elder Scrolls community. Turned out I found the best place on the first hit ;)
Why did you stay?
Because of the community? I made a load of good friends here, so the UESP will always be special to me.
Good or bad, what's the single most memorable experience in your time as forum moderator?
There have been several bad times I don't want to remember. But probably the most memorable is the first few days getting used to everything and banning my first spambot :P
Why are you a good moderator?
Cos I am.

You were born in Germany but moved to England when you were 15; is that correct?
If you say so. *glares*
You're an amazing piano player. Oh, right, a question. Um.. what's your favourite Harry Potter movie?
Possibly the 6th...
Americans are totally lame, amirite?
Yup. I hate you all. :P
That last two questions don't count since they were stupid.
So, piano. What made you start learning the piano and what makes it so special for you?

My mum sent me to classes when I was about 8... it's special because its great making music and it's also a way of processing/expressing my feelings.
You, my friend, are a ballet dancer, of sorts. Since I'm uncreative, I'll ask the same questions again: what got you into that and what's so special about it?
I did Jazz dance for years, but I always wanted to learn ballet cos it's soooo beautiful, and graceful... when I moved to go to uni I found a cheap course so I finally got my chance. It's special because it's dancing, you really get to know your body and how it works/moves. Ballet is a real challenge. And same as piano, it's a way to express and process feelings. It makes me really happy :D
Bonus question: Why all these extracurricular activities? It's certainly a lot to keep track of.
So I can take a break from life and escape into another world ;)

Do you think I'm pretty?
You're cute.

Because for some reason I can't fathom it's a popular question, if you could snog any member of the forums, who would it be and why? Answer honestly, please.
Don't you wish you knew. :P
CAZ
Spoiler:
Tell us one of the weirdest/craziest moments of your life
Probably when my little brother first learned the concept of hiding... when he was only a few years old we suddenly noticed the house was strangely quiet (never good when you have kids, often means they're up to no good). We went to look for him but he was gone. We were searching up and down the street for him, had the neighbours alerted, and in the end found him in his sand pit, he'd pulled the lid over himself and was lying there really quiet, enjoying himself.

Share one of your happiest memories with us!
Hearing someone say “I love you”, especially for the first time. But every time I dance I feel really happy, especially on pointe and when I manage something new.

Tell us about an embarrassing moment ;)
Ugh... messing up a show on stage is bad... but I usually don't get embarrassed, I tend to laugh things off.

If you could go back in time, and were asked again, would you still choose to be a moderator?
Definitely.

If you were to choose one word each to describe the other moderators, what would it be?
Cactus: sweetass
Codex: fearsome o.o
Dogmantra: sexy (accent)
Josjie: cosy?
CODEX
Spoiler:
For how long have you slept continuously?
The longest was probably about 11 hours, after sleeping only about 2 hours the night before. Once was because of a flight back from Cyprus, the other because of a flood that kept me awake.

Have you got any phobias?
Not really... but over the past 6 months I've started panicking easily, since I started having breathing problems.

Have you ever broken a bone?
No, and proud of it :D Although I'm sure I would have if I wasn't hypermobile...

When did you realise you were crazy enough to spend this much time on an internet forum?
I'm apparently a generally crazy person, so it's just normal for me...

Heard any news from the other provinces?
Rumour has it you're not a yeti after all, sir.

Do you prefer to have your computer desktop clean, or flooded with icons.
Cleanish. When it gets cluttered (about half the screen) I tidy it up.

Have you ever gotten arrested?
No... cos I run THAT fast :P

Whats the most impressive thing you've made by yourself?
There aren't many things I've made by myself... not outside of school at least... we made some nice things in art class though, clay candle holders, life size human figures out of plaster casts...

On a scale from one to ten, how odd are you?
It varies. It can get up to 9 at least, I'd say.
DOGMANTRA
Spoiler:
Will you be my friend?
I gueeeess. ;)
Describe your favourite pair of socks.
Black.
You are able to send a message to yourself from five years ago. What do you say?
Trust yourself. Everything will be okay. And don't forget to stop and eat smell the flowers along the way.
Socks: Yes or no?
Yes
Tapdancing: Yes or no?
Yes
This sentence structure: Yes or no?
No
Do you like bubbles?
*excited* Bubbles! Bubbles! My bubbles.
How many times have you been on stage, performing? What were you performing?
No idea. Several times for dancing, and countless times for the school circus (mainly juggling and fire poi) and playing piano (solo or for the school orchestra)
Will you marry me?
Sorry kid, you're too young ;)
If you could be anyone who has ever lived, who would you be?
Myself.
If you could change one detail about yourself, what would it be?
I'd be a bit taller :D
Say something about moderating the forums!
Out out!! You demons of stupidity!
What's your proudest moment?
Performing on stage for whatever reason makes me proud... so does making depressed friends happy... and dancing...
Are you annoyed that some of my questions were sensible?
I am disappointed in you.

Any reason why you chose to move to Germany specifically?
I didn't. My parents did.
Just to clarify, do I have a sexier accent that one Mr. Dark Lord?
All of your accents (that I've heard) are sexier than his, naturally :P
You're half-Irish, half-English, no? Me too! Wanna join my club? What would you think if it turned out that you were actually my sister?
Sure  Your sister? That would be funny xD
You have to move to any country other than Germany and England. Where would it be? Why?
Probably Ireland, cos I feel at home there too. Or Italy, it's warmer.
If, on one of your digs, you ever found a dinosaur skull, would you put it over your head, tape your thumbs to your hands and stomp around making dinosaur noises? I know I would.
No. Although I'm sure some of the guys I know would.
What's it like being the token female in a group of dudes?
It makes me feel special ;) And guys are a lot more fun than most girls anyway.
JOSJIE
Spoiler:
Do you think you'll still be here when TESV comes out? And are you going to buy TESV?
Probably, and most likely
Will you continue playing games for the rest of your life?
As long as I am young at heart ;)
Do you believe in aliens?
“I want to believe”
What's your favorite Bethesda Softworks game and why?
Morrowind, because it's got a great story and it never gets old for me
If Bethesda would offer you a well-paid job, would you accept?
Even if that involves moving to the USA?
Definitely not
This is our four year anniversary but how long have you been here (first visit on these forums)?
About 20 months
You're in prison. You're getting bored and ask a guard for something to do. You've got two options:
a) HD television with some movies, Lord of the Rings, Monthy Python etc.
b) Computer (no internet connection!) with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Tough one... I love Lord of the Rings and Monty Python... but I can waste more time on Morrowind and Oblivion...
Of all the members that have left UESP, who do you miss the most (and why)?
No one left who I really knew. I guess the older members in general...
Do you sometimes enjoy banning someone or deleting posts ?
When they deserve it :P
Do you care anything about your post count? And what's your opinion about the fact that the General forum does not count towards post count?
I don't care about post count, I have green coins :P General not counting towards the post count was a great idea though.
Oblivion forum (or Morrowind) or General?
Morrowind
Have you ever considered quitting as a moderator?
Not yet
Have you ever played World of Warcraft or a different MMORPG?
No
If Oblivion becomes real-life, what would be your race, class, birthsign, looks, attitude, status, rank....
Probably some kind of stealthy character, good with short blades. Dunno about the rest.
OTHERS
Spoiler:
ace: Have you ever *GASP* trolled on a forum? How about 4chan? Time to reveal your dark side
No. I'm good as gold. :P

r: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you hate the twins on X-Factor?
On a scale of 1 to 10? Ohhh, I'd say roughly... 47? I shall not go on a rant here about how they ridicule themselves with pathetic songs and they completely ruin the brilliant ones. The only thing entertaining about their act is Simon's expression and comments. “Night of the living dead” indeed

sonix: can we reg uespers have kool coin colors?
No. You have to earn them.

RobotNixon: Give me a sentence that describes your view of Catholicism
“Don't get me started.”

Guy No. 2: What is the name of your most favorite band?
Nightwish or Guns n Roses, I think...
What is the name of your most favourite album which may or may not be by your fav band..?
End of an Era, last concert of Nightwish with their singer Tarja. Just epic.
What is the name of your most favorite song?
Ghost Love Score
Do you honestly enjoy frequenting the forums?
If you're good ;)

Wolf: Question the First: What is your name?!
Caz, Cazzy, Cazzius or Cazzia. Whatever works.
Question the Second: What is your quest?!
Currently? To answer all these questions...
Question the Third (You may choose between the two or answer both): What is your favourite colour?! (OR) What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?!
White. AAAaaaaaaa...
What is the capital of Assyria?
The letter “A”, I believe.

Reaper67: Do you keep a log of how many rules a user has violated? I'd like to know my count. I've had a history of learning various rules by breaking them
We do
What does it take to become a moderator/how do you get your own string made (ie. Part Mods)
Don't ask. ;)

scribbane: If a one handed person is clapping in the woods where a lone tree falls onto a screened door submarine, parked next to a helicoptor with an ejector seat, each containing a solar powered flashlight and a brail television set, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? And why?
Even if a woodchuck could chuck wood and even if a woodchuck would chuck wood, should a woodchuck chuck wood?

Videogamer: True or false: Chuck Norris can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.
True. Would be stupid to do so, but true.

Dog Whisperer: Give us a short, real life, anecdote.
So I went to the supermarket the other day.

Satan_n_stuff: Guess who's back?
The blue eyed demon from hell
What is your favourite ES game/expansion?
Morrowind :D
what comes after 2?
5.
I am allowed to edit this, right?
You were...

Jpot: Why is your name what it is? And not "because I use it everywhere". How did you come up with it in the first place?
It's based on my real name. It's because Germans can't pronounce their “th” sound... they make more of a “zzz” sound instead.

Dlarsh: What are you opinions on the current status of the UESPwiki, and what, if anything, would you do to improve it?
Not really involved over there... on the other side... they're scary...

Post by Codex »

Because of my dual personality disorder, I'll have to answer my own questions.
Spoiler:
Q: For how long have you slept continously?
A: After being awake for two days straight, I slept for 36 hours.

Q: Have you got any phobias?
A: I have acrophobia.

Q: Have you ever broken a bone?
A: Nope. Never.

Q: When did you realise you were crazy enough to spend this much time on an internet forum?
A: When I became a moderator here. That's one reason why most of the mods names starts with a C. We're all crazy.

Q: Heard any news from the other provinces?
A: I've heard Sweden thinks they have better looking women than Norway.

Q: Do you prefer to have your computer desktop clean, or flooded with icons.
A: I prefer to have as few icons on my desktop as possible. It irks me every time I see a desktop with more than 5 icons.

Q: Have you ever gotten arrested?
A: No. I've had a few enconters with the police, but only for traffic issues.

Q: Whats the most impressive thing you've made by yourself?
A: Not made entirely by myself, but I would have to say my offroader.

Q: On a scale from one to ten, how odd are you?
A: I'd say a good average. So 5.
Dogmantra's questions
Spoiler:
Q: Will you be my friend?
A: Of course.

Q: Describe your favourite pair of socks.
A: They cover my feet.

Q: You are able to send a message to yourself from five years ago. What do you say?
A: Hi!

Q: Socks: Yes or no?
A: Yes

Q: Tapdancing: Yes or no?
A: Depends on the tap.

Q: This sentence structure: Yes or no?
A: Not even slightly.

Q: Do you like bubbles?
A: That depends if the bubbles comes from a tap or not.

Q: How many times have you been on stage, performing? What were you performing?
A: Several. Have usually ended in failure.

Q: Will you marry me?
A: Nope.

Q: If you could be anyone who has ever lived, who would you be?
A: Well, you say they have lived? Which means they are dead, right? In that case, I'll stick with my current alive self.

Q: If you could change one detail about yourself, what would it be?
A: I need to cut the nail on my thumb...

Q: Say something about moderating the forums!
A: Figgie' pudding!

Q: What's your proudest moment?
A: Changing the exhaust system on my old Golf, and do it without breaking any of the bolts.

Q: Are you annoyed that some of my questions were sensible?
A: Very...

Q: I never got the Yeti avatar. Care to enlighten me?
A: Simple. I needed a picture that represented myself. Wouldn't post one of my actualy photos, so I settled with one that looked almost the same.

Q: Do you purposefully remain enigmatic, or is it just me that thinks you're a mystery?
A: That's a question that's best left unanswered.

Q: You're the longest serving member left on the UESP, as far as I know. Do you forsee a time where you won't be around anymore?
A: Oh, most certainly. I'm saving what I'm earning here to be able to retire somewhere nice and cold. I just hope there will be some cold places left in the world by the time I've saved up enough...

Q: You're given two slices of cake, one for you, one to share with another moderator. Which moderator needs cake the most?
A: None of them. Survival of the fittest, you know, and the fittest one here is me. Oh, wait. Caz was recently on a training camp for 6 weeks. She's probably more fit than I. Guess you'll have to give the cake to her, even though it's a lie.

Q: What's it like being the straight man in a group of crazies?
A: It's not exactly a walk in the park. It has it's moments though.
Cactus' questions
Spoiler:
Q: What's it like living in a cave your entire life with no electricity or plumbing? How the hell do you post on the forums with no electricity?
A: I use an extention cord from the nearby science station.

Q: Can you explain to me how Norwegian, a language made up entirely of banging your head on a keyboard, has existed for centuries?
A: We've had keyboards for a very long time...

Q: From the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which is your favourite bear?
A: Hard to tell, really. They all tasted the same to me.

Q: What originaly brought you to the forums?
A: *Searching...* That would be a question about the infamous glitch at the end of the Thieves Guild questline in Oblivion.

Q: Why did you stay?
A: It seemed like a nice place. People were nice, and I could help people in return.

Q: Good or bad, what's the single most memorable experiance in your time as forum moderator?
A: What do you mean, memorable experiences?

Q: Seriously though, who thought you'd make a good Moderator? Did you pay them off?
A: Bear was asking if someone was able to assist him, and apparently he thought I was qualified.

Q: You're an amateur photographer, and I use the term "amateur" lightly. What got you interested in that and how long have you been taking pictures?
A: It was my brother who got me into it. He had a rather low end camera, but when I saw the pictures he took with it I decided to try it myself.

Q: Describe, in your own opinion, the single best photograph you've ever taken.
A: Oh dear... That's tough. From the ones I can think of now, it's probably one of the sunrise reflecting it's colours in the skies, with the contours of a bird in the air.

Q: Cross-country driving. What's the deal with that? Why does it rule so hard, or at least why do you like it?
A: It's called off-road :P Well, I've always loved both cars and being out in the wild. So what could possibly be better than driving around in the mud, over rocks, up mountains, etc, and feel the machine working when you push the pedal.

Q: Describe your most exciting adventure.
A: That has yet to come.

Q: Your father is Bumble, is that correct?
A: Yes. You couldn't tell that from my picture? Seriously...

Q: Many years ago your father pushed aside his violent and mindless ways to put the star on the Christmas tree. When are you going to push aside your mindless violent ways?
A: You know, there comes a time in every mans life, but hopefully it'll take a while yet.

Q: You're completely covered in white fur; that must itch, right?
A: Not so much as one might think. As long as you keep your fur free of lice, it's not a problem. And lice isn't really an issue at - 50° C.

Q: Have you ever considered shaving your body, wearing clothes, perhaps dying your hair brown, and posing as a human being?
A:  Why on earth would I do that?

Q: Do you think I'm pretty?
A: Depends on what's coming after pretty...

Q: Because for some reason I can't fathom it's a popular question, if you could snog any member of the forums, who would it be and why?
A: Would you believe, none?
Josjie's questions
Spoiler:
Q: Do you think you'll still be here when TESV comes out? And are you going to buy TESV?
A: Hard to tell. If I leave, I'll probably be back when it released though.

Q: Will you continue playing games for the rest of your life?
A: Assuming otherwise would be silly.

Q: Do you believe in aliens?
A: I believe we're not the only life form in the universe.

Q: What's your favorite Bethesda Softworks game and why?
A: At the moment it's Oblivion. That might change if I take time to get properly into Morrowind some day. I like it because it's much more vast than the other games I've played.

Q: If Bethesda would offer you a well-paid job, would you accept? Even if that involves moving to the USA?
A: I'd take the job if it involved moving anywhere but the US.

Q: This is our four year anniversary but how long have you been here (first visit on these forums)?
A: Since the 6th of August, 2006. Some three years. I'm one of those who never lurked before I registered.

Q: You're in prison. You're getting bored and ask a guard for something to do. You've got two options:
a) HD television with some movies, Lord of the Rings, Monthy Python etc.
b) Computer (no internet connection!) with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

A: Movies get boring before games, so I'd have the computer.

Q: Of all the members that have left UESP, who do you miss the most (and why)?
A: That would have to be Bear. Good guy, and we were always on the same page.

Q: Do you sometimes enjoy banning someone or deleting posts?
A: I see this as a job of sorts. Those two are something that comes with it. There's never anything personal about it. Ecxeption is when the person in question is nothing but a troll. Then it feels good to be rid of them.

Q: Do you care anything about your post count? And what's your opinion about the fact that the General forum does not count towards post count?
A: Of course not. It's the quality of the posts that matters, not how many there are. That the General forum doesn't count towards the post count is a good thing. That way the post count shows (roughly) how much someone's contributed to discussions about the game, which is what these boards are mainly for.

Q: Oblivion forum (or Morrowind) or General?
A: Oblivion

Q: Have you ever considered quitting as a moderator?
A: Yes.

Q: Have you ever played World of Warcraft or a different MMORPG?
A: NO!!!

Q: If Oblivion becomes real-life, what would be your race, class, birthsign, looks, attitude, status, rank....
A:

Race: Imperial
Class: From the default, either Archer or Nightblade.
Birthsign: The Thief
Looks: Some of you already know.
Attitude: Yes. And lots of it.
Status: Unknown
Rank: Also unknown
Caz' questions
Spoiler:
Q: Tell us one of the weirdest/craziest moments of your life
A: This happened on new years eve, some eons ago (back when I was 16). Me and a bunch of mates had bought a ton of fireworks, and headed off to a frozen lake to light them off. As you all know, ice is quite slippery, so what could be better than lighting the fireworks while they were laying down on the ice? You should know that this particular lake is rather narrow, so it didn't take much of an offset aim for the rockets to slide off the ice and into the dry grass on the bank. As it turns out, dry grass isn't very fond of sparkling fireworks, and wouldn't you know it, the damn stuff caught fire. After the quickest sprint I've ever performed over ice (with or without skates), and a huge team effort, we were able to put it out before it got hold of the forest, and that without drawing any attention from the fire department. The best part of that night though, was when one of the rockets exploded about 10 metres from where we were standing. It's quite an experience standing in the middle of an explosion, with all the sparks flying over your head.

Q: Share one of your happiest memories with us!
A: The day I got my drivers license. I made one mistake, but since I was able to point it out afterwards, I did get it. You can say I was happy not having to wait another month in order to take the test again.

Q: Tell us about an embarrassing moment.
A: This has probably happened to everyone, but it's still quite embarrassing. I was hanging out with some of my friends at school, talking [less positive things] about one of my teachers, only to realise he was standing just behind me...

Q: If you could go back in time, and were asked again, would you still choose to be a moderator?
A: Yes, I would. If I didn't, I wouldn't still be here.

Q: If you were to choose one word each to describe the other moderators, what would it be?
A: Hmm...

Cactus: Green
Caz: Stubborn
Josjie: Newb
Dogmantra: What?

Q: Do you keep a log of how many rules a user has violated?
A: Yes.

Q: What does it take to become a moderator.
A: Don't ask to become one. If we need moderators, we contact the users we think would do a good job. Asking means you're disqualified.

Q: How do you get your own string made (ie. Part Mods)
A: That's admin duties.

- nyk45
Q: I heard you were going to shave soon, any comment?
A: No.

- scribbane
Q: Why do three of the moderators names start with C?
A: In addition to aforementioned reason, because C is the first letter in Capital!!

Q: If a one handed person is clapping in the woods where a lone tree falls onto a screened door submarine, parked next to a helicoptor with an ejector seat, each containing a solar powered flashlight and a brail television set, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? And why?
A: Why? Because when back in the day, when the earth was flat, the slight curvature you could see on the horizon was actually the head of a bald man whos pet woodchuck once escaped from it's cage. This obviously means that a woodchuck is able to chuck about three twigs a day, if you take into account the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow.

A: Several.

Q: I am allowed to edit this, right?
A: Not if you value your sanity.

- Jpot
Q: Why is your name what it is? And not "because I use it everywhere". How did you come up with it in the first place?
A: Because it corresponds to the knowlegde possesed by the monks in Tibet.

- Dlarsh
Q: What are you opinions on the current status of the UESPwiki, and what, if anything, would you do to improve it?
A: I can't say much about the wiki, other than I think it's greater than ever. As far as improvements go, I can't really offer anything. I have enough with the forums.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

A viking is just a horny pirate.

My Questions for Myself!
Spoiler:
Will you be my friend?
Considering I'm the interviewer as well, I suppose I ought to say yes!

Describe your favourite pair of socks.
Socks... ewww... Though I do have a padded pair that I quite like. They're very comfortable

You are able to send a message to yourself from five years ago. What do you say?
Geez louise, get a hold of yourself! Oh, and don't pick Drama for GCSE.

Socks: Yes or no?
Absolutely not

Tapdancing: Yes or no?
As a filler answer, yes. The act of tapdancing, no.

This sentence structure: Yes or no?
I like that sentence structure, considering I wrote three questions using it.

Do you like bubbles?
BUBBLES!
By which I mean "who doesn't?"

How many times have you been on stage, performing? What were you performing?
Ummm three times in school plays, two of which I had the main part. Twice in school concerts where I sang a Weird Al song each time, and the second time I sung My Name is Jonas with a couple of my friends.

Will you marry me?
Oh, Doggy, if I could, I would most definitely!

If you could be anyone who has ever lived, who would you be?
Well, anyone other than myself, I'd have to be... Maybe Douglas Adams or something.

If you could change one detail about yourself, what would it be?
The fact that I take nigh on everything as an insult. Sucks.

Say something about moderating the forums!
People, for the love of Vehk, PLEASE USE THE REPORT BUTTON!

What's your proudest moment?
Maybe becoming a Tea Party Mod... I dunno...

Are you annoyed that some of my questions were sensible?
Since I wrote them, no.
Cosy's Questions, also for myself!
Spoiler:
1. Do you think you'll still be here when TESV comes out? And are you going to buy TESV?
I don't see any reason why I won't be here, unless my bestest buddies leave. I might buy TESV, as long as it's nothing like Oblivion.

2. Will you continue playing games for the rest of your life?
Most likely!

3. Do you believe in aliens?
I don't not believe in them.

4. What's your favorite Bethesda Softworks game and why?
Morrowind. It's not just my favourite Bethsoft game, but my favourite game completely. It has got to do with nostalgia a little, since it's the game that basically compounded my love of RPGs. Plus it helped shape my geekdom. Plus, it's actually a really good game!

5. If Bethesda would offer you a well-paid job, would you accept?
Yes, unless VALVe had also offered me a well-payed job. Or a job at all. I love VALVe, you see.

6. Even if that involves moving to the USA?
If they payed me for it. I suppose I could always pretend I'd moved to an alternate universe England or something.

7. This is our four year anniversary but how long have you been here (first visit on these forums)?
I visited for the first time about ten minutes before I signed up, so just subtract ten minutes or so.

8. You're in prison. You're getting bored and ask a guard for something to do. You've got two options:
a) HD television with some movies, Lord of the Rings, Monthy Python etc.
b) Computer (no internet connection!) with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

I'd go for the 'puter. Having sneaked my hard-drive in, I can also play Gotcha Force on an emulator :P
No, seriously, I'd still go for the 'puter. You can do a bit more on the vidja games, because they don't follow a set path. It does depend how many and which films they are. If, for example, they had every Christopher Guest film, all the Monty Python films and maybe the box set of Air TV, then I'd probably have to take the TV.

9. Of all the members that have left UESP, who do you miss the most (and why)?
Probably The Tourist, because of his text-walling skills. I don't think anyone else has made a big impression and left... a big positive impression, that is.

10. Do you sometimes enjoy banning someone or deleting posts ?
I wouldn't know what banning someone is like, and I haven't deleted posts except to merge them. There is, of course, the morbid pleasure that comes from... maliciously editing someone else's posts for humorous ends... not that I've ever done that.

11. Do you care anything about your post count? And what's your opinion about the fact that the General forum does not count towards post count?
I cared about my post count staying leet, but the delicious looking lore forum was far too enticing, and I did realise a week or so into my perma-leet post count that I wanted so much to post in loads of topics in Morrowind and UESP Site that I sent about 100 PMs in around two days, answering questions and stuff. 'twas rather tempting to break it.

12. Oblivion forum (or Morrowind) or General?
General. 's why I only have powers there

13. Have you ever considered quitting as a moderator?
Nope. I would have considered it a little while ago due to certain events, but that was because I considered leaving entirely... and I wasn't a mod.

14. Have you ever played World of Warcraft or a different MMORPG?
I played the free trial of WoW. It's rubbish, but strangely addictive. I also have about five level 20 (max level) characters on Guild Wars, though I haven't played that for a while. I've also dabbled in numerous others, like D&D Online, after it became free.

15. If Oblivion becomes real-life, what would be your race, class, birthsign, looks, attitude, status, rank....
I would move to Vvardenfell first thing. Join Hlaalu, hug Uncle Crassius, and most likely be a Dunmer of some sort 'cause they're pretty okay!
Cactus's Questions of Questionable Intent
Spoiler:
Your username is a combination of an animal and an incantation, so which is your favourite Harry Potter movie?
I quite liked Order of the Phoenix. I haven't seen the Half Blood Prince or all of the Goblet of Fire.
Oh, and FYI? My name is actually a combination of Dogman and "tra" as opposed to Dog and mantra. When I was ten, I had no idea what a mantra was.

Does it bother you that I'm a direct descendant of Noah Webster's brother, Noah Webster being the creator of the American Webster's dictionary as well as the person singularly responsible for creating the modern American-English spelling standards such as "color" and "check"?
My dear, it would only bother me if you'd built a shrine to him or something.

Do you think it's weird that given the aforementioned fact, I prefer colour over color, etc?
No, it means you have a soul... provided you like Portal.

How would you feel if you discovered r was your biological half-brother?
I would be elated because it would bother him so much.

What originaly brought you to the forums?
I'd just been wiki binging, and I saw there was a link to the forums. I clicked it and did a binge of the Morrowind subforum. Then I registered, posted and got an answer right in the trivia game. The answer was The Wings of the Queen of Bats.

Why did you stay?
Someone laughed at one of my jokes one time. I'm hoping to replicate it.

Good or bad, what's the single most memorable experiance in your time as forum moderator?
Well, if you'd asked me five minutes ago, I'd have said it was becoming one. Now my most memorable moment is when a certain moderator tried to change the name of the Tea Party Mods to General Forum Mods and remove the pink name and coins. Said certain moderator who shall remain un-named henceforth smells.

Why do you think they invented an entirely new moderator position for you along with pink coins instead of giving you the green ones? Is it because you are so lame or you just rule so hard you can't be seen with us?
Well, green is the opposite of pink in terms of optics. The moderators actually moderate, and I'm the opposite in that I don't moderate but I do get drunk on power occasionally and "accidentally" edit someone else's post or something. Since I'm the opposite of a mod, I get the opposite colour! I was also restricted to General so I don't do too much damage. :P

How do you feel that I personally created the coins using Paintshop Pro?
I feel fantastic, and I've never felt as good as how I do right now, except for maybe when I think of how I felt that day, when I felt the way that I do right now.

How long have you been writing and how did you get started?
Well, I loved English in years 6 and 7 (that's when I was 11 and 12) because my English teacher always gave us really cool things to do for homework, like one time, we had to re-write the story of George and the Dragon, putting our own spin on it. Apparently mine was rather good. I had the same teacher in year 8, but then we were mostly studying for the Common Entrance Exam. So the answer to the first part is around five years.

Do you have any serious goals or aspirations regarding writing, or is it just a hobby?
I want to get published and sell at least one copy of a book.

You have a unique sense of humour. How would you describe your humour?
My humour is a mixture of black bile, yellow bile, blood and... oh wait, my sense of humour.
Oh, that's a complex mixture of irony, meta-references, randomness, self-deprecation and jokes about your mother.

Where would you go and who would you visit if you could travel anywhere? You don't have to limit yourself to a single person/place.
I would visit all my favourite authors, probably a couple of people I know from t'internet and also JoCo and John and John from They Might Be Giants.

If you were overcome with the compulsion to answer this question without the options to choose "none" or to refuse the question, what is your favourite Teletubby?
Well, Tinky-Winky's my favourite colour, but LaLa has that fabulous handbag... I'M TORN!

The following questions assume you deserve a silver medal: what'd you do to get it? what makes you so special? How'd you screw up and let someone else get gold?
Well, my training programme was pretty tough. Up every morning at half past ten, two hours before I went to bed, go down the mill and work for 26 hours a day, pay mill owner for... wait a minute, I'm not from Yorkshire! Anyway, the reason I didn't get gold is that the other person was better than me.

That glass everyone always mentions that's either half full or half empty.. what's in it in the first place?
Crushed dreams. Either that or lemonade. They taste eerily similar.

If you had all the money in the world, would you split it with me?
You could have a million of your American Dollars, which, admittedly, would only be worth about 10p...

Do you think I'm pretty?
You are pretty
You're so pretty
You are pretty
And witty
and
GAAAAAAAAAAAAY

Because for some reason I can't fathom it's a popular question, if you could snog any member of the forums, who would it be and why?
If I say Caz, how annoyed will you be on a scale of one to ten? If you answered 400 or above, I'd snog r, just to annoy him.
No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition of Caz!
Spoiler:
1. Tell us one of the weirdest/craziest moments of your life
The little yellow men.
From Desert Bus.
God, they're everywhere. They're walking towards you. THEY NEVER SLEEP.

2. Share one of your happiest memories with us!
When I finally quit drama and became rid of a massive burden.

3. Tell us about an embarrassing moment ;)

I've told the story about the time I insisted "The British Army don't have privates", haven't I?

4. If you could go back in time, and were asked again, would you still choose to be a moderator?
Yes, only this time I would kill and eat Cactus, though, to become a full mod. I've heard that's what you have to do, and I'm a stickler for tradition.

5. If you were to choose one word each to describe the other moderators, what would it be?
Codex: Enigmatic
Caz: Flauccinoccinihilipilification. You didn't say it had to be an adjective!
Cactus: Envious (of me)
Cosy: Newbie
Codex's previously misattributed to Caz questions of... stuff, I guess?
Spoiler:
For how long have you slept continously?
One time for about 12 hours after my desert bus marathon.

Have you got any phobias?
I'm frigging terrified of wasps.

Have you ever broken a bone?
Nope

When did you realise you were crazy enough to spend this much time on an internet forum?
About the time I realised my life's ambition was to get a cat, just to call him Schrödinger.

Heard any news from the other provinces?
No, but I did see a Mudkipcrab the other day.

Do you prefer to have your computer desktop clean, or flooded with icons.
Once something's there for a couple of days, it's there permanently.

Have you ever gotten arrested?
I'm fifteen, geez.
Of course!
:P

Whats the most impressive thing you've made by yourself?
For sheer volume, my novel from NaNoWriMo. For functionality, probably that flash game "walkman" that's kind of alright!

On a scale from one to ten, how odd are you?
Odd enough to misread this as "how old are you?" and then think that your scale was too small.
Everyone else's questions. Lesser People and whatnot! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Spoiler:
Have you ever *GASP* trolled on a forum? How about 4chan? Time to reveal your dark side
There was the time I made a thread on Dark Lord's incredibly short lived forum where I used the guest feature to post, pretending to be spambots. They started arguing.
Apparently my first post was such convinving spam that he deleted it, thinking there was really a spambot there.

Given the state of the global economy, with banks responsible for a huge economic downturn by exploiting those with no income or assets for their own personal gain, what do you think John McCririck's house smells of?
Probably John McCririck's socks, considering in the economic crisis of the moment, he probably can't afford to wash half his clothes, so he chose socks. (Read: I have no idea who Mr. McCririck is, so I'm making stuff up.)

Are you a werewolf?
No

Or am I the only werewolf here?
That's also a no. When the moon is full (and also when it's not) the hideous monster sprouts more hair than usual over its body, turns more feral than usual and loses the capacity for human speech more than usual. Basically, Vivec's Tears is also a werewolf.

What is the name of your most favorite band?
If you frequent the What Are You Listening To? thread, you will be one hundred per cent sure that my favourite band has got to be They Might Be Giants.

What is the name of your most favourite album which may or may not be by your fav band..?

Hmmm... best album... Flood from TMBG or BEST. CONCERT. EVER. by JoCo

What is the name of your most favorite song?
That would be Always the Moon, by Jonathan Coulton; Dr. Worm by They Might Be Giants; Birdhouse in Your Soul by They Might Be Giants or I'm Impressed by... They Might Be Giants.
I can't choose.

Question the First: What is your name?!
Nick "Dogmantra" Sexypants.

Question the Second: What is your quest?!

To moderate the forums!

Question the Third: What is your favourite colour?!
Purple, no, hot piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink...

What does it take to become a moderator/how do you get your own string made (ie. Part Mods)
I'm going to field the second part of this question, since the other mods have probably dealt with it, and I'm the one who has his own group. The Tea Party Mods began their long road to existence long before the first update to pbbpbbpbpbpbpppbbpbppbpbpbpbpbpbpbppbpbpb(whatever combination of Ps and Bs it actually is)3 before then, back when I was just a regular ol' member, I sent a PM to my buddy Cactus, that said (and I quote directly!)
Dogmantra wrote:I was wondering, since there is a tendency for discussions to go off topic, if we could have a "random banter" thread, where you can just chat? It would still have to be enforced as a no-spam thread, of course.
It was denied for being too much like the "Tell us a little bit about yourself and your interests" thread, but the idea stuck. After the update (where we had General, then two subforums: General Banter and Roleplays & Fanfiction) I was approached by Cactus, asking if I'd be interested in becoming a mod for just General, since it would be more work to moderate three different subforums (later five!). Those familiar with my Wiki User Page may see that step two involves becoming a mod, so I jumped at the opportunity. The name of the group was dedicated to my non-existant thread. Being friends with a current mod can't hurt, but you've gotta be a contributing, friendly, generally good guy. Which leads me to wonder why the earth they picked me...

Would you consider changing your coins to rainbow color any time soon?
If I could, I would have done so ages ago. I don't actually have any admin powers, which is what's required to edit that sort of thing. I'd have to ask the proper mods, and since I'm told Cactus spent a good five minutes making the pink ones in Paintshop Pro himself, I'm too afraid to.

True or false: Chuck Norris can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.
I answer your question with another question!
True or false: Chuck Norris jokes suck.
(Hint: the answer's true!)

Give us a short, real life, anecdote.
Okay, so there was this one time when I was walking along and... well I forget the rest, but it was really funny.
That doesn't count?
Oh poo...
Ummmmmmm...
There was the time three friends and I played Desert Bus for 24 hours. We raised over £150 for charity. It was hilarious for the first few hours, but I assure you, having one of your best friends talking about "The Little Yellow Men" walking towards him at two in the morning, knowing you have to endure this for an hour and a half soon is not fun at all.

1: Guess who's back?
It's either you, or Shady. Gonna guess you.

2: What is your favourite ES game/expansion?
Morrowind, duh.

4: what comes after 2?
Fifteen. Not directly after, though.

5: I am allowed to edit this, right?
Right!
BANG → !

Mod questions:
Spoiler:
Dogmantra's Questions

Q: What is it with you and global announcements? When there is one, it always seems to be you who makes it.
A: That would be because of my excellent knowledge of English grammar .

Q: Does the name Cosy annoy you at all?
No, not at all :D. Cactus thinks it's really funny though.
We were having a mod meeting a while ago and Cactus said my username should begin with a C (Caz/Codex/Cactus).
So he changed my username to Cosy ;).

Q: Think of a question for me to ask you, then answer it here.
Er...... "When and why did you join these forums?" March 20, 2006, around 10PM. I bought Oblivion that day but after completing the tutorial I suddenly got a CTD when I launched the game. So I searched for an Oblivion Wiki to find the answer. I installed new GPU drivers and the problem was solved :D.

Q: What's it like being the only one I don't really know well enough to ask lots of in-jokey based questions in a group of people I do know well enough?
Well we need at least one moderator who doesn't acts like a child .
I don't have time for MSN though and I prefer to help people out in the Oblivion forum rather than talking rubbish in General .

Q: Will you be my friend?
I already am ;). Makes it easier to send you a PM :D.

Q: Describe your favourite pair of socks.
Two identical socks :).

Q: You are able to send a message to yourself from five years ago. What do you say?
Josjie, on March 20, 2006, go to http://www.uesp.net/phpbb and create a new account. Choose "Cactus" as your username.
No I'm not jealous .

Q: Socks: Yes or no?
Yes.

Q: Tapdancing: Yes or no?
NO!

Q: This sentence structure: Yes or no?
Sorry but no.

Q: Do you like bubbles?
I like bubblegum.

Q: How many times have you been on stage, performing? What were you performing?
Never. And hopefully I won't ever perform on stage.

Q: Will you marry me?
Nope.

Q: If you could be anyone who has ever lived, who would you be?
Cactus Myself.

Q: If you could change one detail about yourself, what would it be?
Nothing. Well being able to shoot spiderwebs like Spiderman would be fun .

Q: Say something about moderating the forums!
Yay! :D

Q: What's your proudest moment?
Answering the above question .

Q: Are you annoyed that some of my questions were sensible?
Not at all :).

Josjie's Questions

Q: 1. Do you think you'll still be here when TESV comes out? And are you going to buy TESV?
A: I don't now. See question 2.

Q: 2. Will you continue playing games for the rest of your life?
A: Well... no. I'm 17 years old atm and playing games is fun... but I'm thinking of quitting when I'm 19 years old (when I've finished school). I don't want to be still playing games when I have a wife and kids and I've got more important things to do in my life.

Q: 3. Do you believe in aliens?
A: No. Playing Mothership Zeta was a bit difficult, but I just ignored all the aliens and pretended they did not exist :D.

Q: 4. What's your favorite Bethesda Softworks game and why?
A: Fallout 3. I love the post-apocalyptic setting and it has much more variety than Oblivion. Because of that, it reminded me of Morrowind. If TESV will combine the best parts of Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, it'll be one of the best games ever :).

Q: 5. If Bethesda would offer you a well-paid job, would you accept?
A: I don't think so. Playing games is fun but I don't want to spend the entire day working on a script or design.

Q: 6. Even if that involves moving to the USA?
A: Nope. I hope to move to New Zealand one day, though :D.

Q: 7. This is our four year anniversary but how long have you been here (first visit on these forums)?
March 20, 2006
~10 P.M.

Q: 8. You're in prison. You're getting bored and ask a guard for something to do. You've got two options:
a) HD television with some movies, Lord of the Rings, Monthy Python etc.
b) Computer (no internet connection!) with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

A: Definitely b. a is fun but won't last as long as b.

Q: 9. Of all the members that have left UESP, who do you miss the most (and why)?
A: Jeff. He was one of the first to join these forums and he was an outstanding member.

Q: 10. Do you sometimes enjoy banning someone or deleting posts ?
A: The opposite. Sometimes I feel sorry for someone even though he deserves it.

Q: 11. Do you care anything about your post count? And what's your opinion about the fact that the General forum does not count towards post count?
A: Well I think it's fun to raise your post count. It shows how much you've contributed to the forum.
If the General forums would count, I would have over 2000 posts. But right now your post count really shows how much you've contributed (helped people out in the Oblivion forums) so I think it was a good choice!

Q: 12. Oblivion forum (or Morrowind) or General?
A: Oblivion. It's fun to help someone out and usually they really appreciate all the effort.

Q: 13. Have you ever considered quitting as a moderator?
A: No. Never.

Q: 14. Have you ever played World of Warcraft or a different MMORPG?
A: I've played a free trial of Guild Wars: Factions. Stopped after 30 minutes. Not my kind of game.

Q: 15. If Oblivion becomes real-life, what would be your race, class, birthsign, looks, attitude, status, rank....
A: I would be a High Elf, Battlemage class, Atronach birthsign, extremely good looking, Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild and spending all my time messing around with Mages Guild Apprentices :D.

Cactus's Questions

Q: Josie, what is your real name?
A: Josjie.

Q: Does it bother you I call you Josie?
A: It bothers me that you ask me this all the time ;).

Q: Does it bother you that Caz calls you Cosy?
A: Nah I never take Caz very seriously so that doesn't matter .

Q: Does it bother you Codex calls you... well, actually that's inappropriate for a family-friendly forum, so never mind. Since that didn't work out um.. what's your favourite Harry Potter movie?
A:  Er.... that would be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. That's also my favorite HP book.

Q: What originaly brought you to the forums?
A: A nasty crash-to-desktop on the day Oblivion was released. I arrived a few minutes before opening at a local gamestore that morning, went home as fast as I could and played Oblivion the entire day. After dinner, around 7 P.M., it crashed.
I searched for an Oblivion Wiki by using Google and arrived at UESP. I read dozens of articles until it was 10 P.M. I then discovered the forums for the first time.

Q: Why did you stay?
A: I continued playing Oblivion until 2 A.M. The next day (March 21, 2006) I spent another two hours learning the details of Oblivion, how the leveling system works, etc.
I can't remember much from that moment on. I vaguely remember that I created an account on these forums called "Knight...." somewhere in May 2006. I created a new account in january 2007 which was deleted during the upgrade to PHPBB3. I created my current account, Josjie, in january this year.
Why I stayed? (to stay on-topic ) These are the only forums I've ever seen with such a friendly community. If someone posts a question, people help him out instead of calling him a "noob" or telling him to "search Google or the Wiki next time before posting noobish questions".

Q: Good or bad, what's the single most memorable experiaence in your time as forum moderator?
A: Codex' PM if I still wanted to be a moderator :D.

Q: Let's assume you could kill any Moderator without being caught; do you prefer diet or regular soda?
A: Definitely regular soda. I would use it to poison that filthy plant.

Q: You're rather physical, it would seem. Snowboarding, swimming, climbing, etc. Out of all the physical activites you do, what's your favourite?
A: Typing on my computer and answering silly questions like these . I like all kinds of sports, actually. It's hard to choose.
I guess my favorite "activity" would be running. Hopping from Mudcrab to Mudcrab. Stuff like that :D.

Q: What got you started with all this and what about it all is so appealing?
A: I've played chess for a couple of years. I was a real geek back then . When I was 12 years old, my life was changed completely, due to... certain events. I made lots of difficult decisions in a few day's time and they've affected my life a lot. Since then I'm much happier and my whole view of the future and of life in general has changed.

Q: You work at an "outdoor sports company" instructing. What exactly do your day-to-day activites entail in that job?
A: We get groups of 8-10 people, usually children (10-14 years old). I've also had groups of people who were older than me (19-24 years old) :P. The activities they can choose from are:
- Archery (we aim at targets or party balloons :P).
- Team building
- Kayaking
- Survival (push-ups, mud-related activities :D)

Q: How did you get into The Elder Scrolls? How did you discover them? Why do you keep coming back?
A: I was 11 years old (6 years ago) and I went to a friend of mine after school. He let me play Morrowind on his computer. It was the first game I ever played and it made an huge impression on me.
In the following years, I played games like Age of Empires, Tony Hawk's, GTA II... and yes, I even bought Morrowind myself. So when Oblivion was released in 2006 I got it ASAP.

Q: I'm sure you get asked this all the time, but if you were ever smacked in the face with a can of compressed air, what would be the first non-alcoholic drink you'd consume?
A: An Ice-Cold Nuka-Cola Sprite.

Q: Who is your favourite plant-related moderator?
A: Gosh  I don't know any plant-related moderator... who would that be.... Doggie perhaps?

How would it make you feel if I said I slept with a giant three-foot teddy bear in my bed?
A: I wouldn't be surprised ;). It would make me feel sad though. I don't think there'll be much left of the teddy bear if he hugs a cactus every night.

Q: What's your favourite flavour?
A: Cactuses juice

Q: Do you think I'm pretty?
A: Nah.

Because for some reason I can't fathom it's a popular question, if you could snog any member of the forums, who would it be and why?
A: I honestly don't know.... let me search for my list of favorite UESP members... :D

Codex's Questions

Q: For how long have you slept continously?
A: 12 hours or so :).

Q: Have you got any phobias?
A: I saw a mudcrab recently. Nasty creatures. As I was running away in terror screaming "By Azura by Azura" I realized I'm a level 50 Battlemage with hundreds of spells. I went back but couldn't find him :(.
Ok seriously, no I do not have any phobias.

Q: Have you ever broken a bone?
A: No. I've broken over one hundred bones in videogames though (Fallout 3 ftw! :D).

Q: When did you realise you were crazy enough to spend this much time on an internet forum?
A: Well I've played Oblivion for over 1500 hours, probably 2000, so it doesn't matter that much anymore :). Nothing to lose :D.

Q: Heard any news from the other provinces?
A: A few guys in Morrowind were claiming they are better than "Oblivion", whatever that is. I believe there was a crying dog involved.

Do you prefer to have your computer desktop clean, or flooded with icons.
A: Clean. Let's see, right now my desktop has the following icons:
- Third Age Total War
- Fallout 3
- Firefox
- Rainbow Six Vegas 2
- Assassin's Creed
That's it :).

Q: Have you ever gotten arrested?
A: No. Again, in videogames I've been arrested over 1000 times. Love those Imperial Guards :D.
Check out this Youtube video :p.

Q: Whats the most impressive thing you've made by yourself?
A: Wow... tough question. That would be the Shishkebab in Fallout 3 :).

Q: On a scale from one to ten, how odd are you?
A: I'm sorry but there's no number for that ;).

Caz's Questions

Q: Tell us one of the weirdest/craziest moments of your life
A: Answering these questions. I don't think I've ever been interviewed before :).

A: I'm still living in a happy memory and hopefully it'll continue forever.

A: while ago, thought I was chatting with Caz but it was Cactus. Or Codex. Whatever :).

Q: If you could go back in time, and were asked again, would you still choose to be a moderator?
A: Yup but I probably would've warned Cactus on day one.

Q: If you were to choose one word each to describe the other moderators, what would it be?
A: Cactus: Cheese!
Codex: Norway-ftw!
Caz: One-day-she's-going-to-dig-up-a-500ft-tall-dinosaur:D
Dogmantra: One-day-Microsoft-is-going-to-distribute-Windows-for-dogs:p

Q: True or false: Chuck Norris can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head. (to all mods)
A: True. And let's not forget:
If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you.
There is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris's computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.
When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.
