Any houses available to buy in Shivering Isles?
So are ther any? Been boppin' around for a while now with the Grey Cowl on, but I'd like to walk about without it too, which isn't going to happen any day soon if I can't get to a house that's nearby. (I know I can still go back to Cyrodiil, but still; a house in Shivering Isles wouldn't be that bad either.)

No houses to purchase in the Shivering Isles
According to an interview with Bethsoft (can't recall the link) there are no houses to purchase in the Shivering Isles, but, if you own houses elsewhere you can always fast travel back and forth between the Shivering Isles and any other place you've already been to.

Well, that just sux. I knew I could still travel back and forth, but that's not exactly handy if you only have one kg left in your inventory and you really want to stay in SI because of some quest your on that involves following someone at a certain time and when you have to pick up some evidence. And yes; I can always drop some stuff somewhere, but still. Not very handy.

No houses does kinda blow. I guess I'll dump the junk back at the entrance. I keep 2 Feather rings (150 each), 1 Feather necklace (150) and the Gray Cowl... plus a feather 150 spell... so he's a bit like a dump truck when he needs to move stuff.
Mostly I've just been gathering Alchemy ingredients and the matrix stuff... I haven't found any weapons or armor better than what I have on.

There is a rather nice sword you get early in the main quest: Dawnfang/Duskfang. Dawnfang has a fire enchantment (plus something else) while Duskfang has an ice enchantment (again; with something else); the swords change themselve at dawn or dusk and while it counts its kills, it gets stronger!

It will level up as long as you feed it 12 lives each 12 hour cycle. I got it to level up to Duskfang Superior and Dawnfang Superior and it added another enchantment. Basically it's designed for around the clock killing sprees. I didn't try to take it past this first level yet.
I went a cycle without feeding it and it rolled back to the basic Duskfang/Dawnfang instead of Superior.

I was going to keep going to see how far you level up the sword... I was at an obelisk and I just kept killing the knights. Feed the obelisk one of their hearts and it makes another knight. They keep showing up on their own also. I made the mistake of opening the obelisk and cleaning out the goodies and it deactivated... I'm not sure how long it takes for them to reactivate, or if they even will, but my killing spree was over.ace62394 wrote:dawnfang superior has an absorb health enchantment, while duskfang superior has an absorb magicka enchantment.
Still haven't figured out the priest yet... can't kill him and loot him. It shocks me when I try to loot him and he eventually comes back around.

I've just answered my own question, I think: in order to have a home where you can store things you first have to become duke of Mania or Dementia. When achieved that (will be an Xbox Liv achievement if you're on Xbox 360) you'll be able to get into the Duke's quarters (which will be yours, I presume. I know I can sleep on the bed without getting a bounty, so I'm just assuming that it's mine from now on.) You'll have a nice cosy bed and some containers that you can put stuff in. Still don't know if the stuff I put in them will stay there, but it's a start.
As for the obelisks: Put three hearts in them and the obelisk will close. (And by closing you will stop the constant arrival of Knights.) (Not sure about this part) I'm thinking that when you close an obelisk, therefor you close the entrance to their realm and thus making them (the priests) vulnerable enough to actually kill them and loot their bodies. I've killed them and looted their bodies, but I'm not exactly sure if that was the reason why I could do that.

Yeah... figured out the priests a little while ago... and the 3 heart thing. Some of the obelisks will act just a little different... there was one that would not let me put a heart in if the priest wasn't knocked out... and it looks like the priests are capable of summoning knights.
At any rate... I'm running around now in priest garb... and I'm wearing one of their heads as a hat as I do my little kooky dance...

Grey Cowl? Where did you get that and what is it?The Shibster wrote:I've just answered my own question, I think: in order to have a home where you can store things you first have to become duke of Mania or Dementia.
In the meantime (am I just simple or am I smart?), as a solution for the overweight - I rented a room in Bliss (the Choosy Beggar), closed the door, and put my stuff in the cupboard closest to the bed (although the indication of the board is red). Every time I visit, the same room is available, and my things are still in that board. I can put things in it and take them back without a problem! Quite a 'relief'...

I would not say so. I figure it's less than that, let's say just about 20%. But.. not all of the space in Oblivion is fully used; the eastside of Oblivion is not exactly well inhabited. Compare that 20% with the south-southwest-west of Oblivion.codex wrote:It's said to be 25% the size of Cyrodiil.
There is a lot to be done in SI, and it's fun. They made inventive use of the limited space in the tasks you are given.
I like SI. It is an worthy expansion, in my opinion; not just some easy quick followup.
