You're the one perpetuating it, just saying. God, the joke's gonna be dead before the RP even starts.

I really kind of intended it to be subtle, so as to look funny when someone actually mentions it. I'm still working on it, by the way. Progress is slow.

@union, i've only made that joke once or twice and don't intend on dragging it out.

Was just curious, Mars. :)

I really need to force myself to set time aside for my Thalmor RP. Progress is too slow and at this rate, this will fall into the void of RPs that i have worked on then forgot about. :-/ Probably aim for mid feb to get the damn thing up if my bad luck with jobs continue. If not, i can see the RP being worked on every evening. :O

I just found notes I made for a world set in 2080 or so. I'm starting to consider it being the setting for a conspirational investigative-drama set in Central Europe.

If that interests anyone at all I can expand. It wouldn't be up for a while though.

That'd be the aim. We're still about 50 years off any sort of asteroid mining. Technology never really took off like it was predicted: People basically put their energies into projects like making Twitter more user-friendly over producing any sort of epochal advancement.

You've pretty primitive cybernetic implants and genetic engineering is starting to take off on a meaningful scale. Green energy has blossomed.

Aside from the relevance of setting.. its just Assassins Creed but with cell phones :P

Would implants still be rather simplistic, at their best comparable to a real limb bc currently we are on route.. tho eye or hearing implants I can see being done by then if not drastically better than the real deal?

Also by genetics, how far along are they? Mapping the human genomr is one thing, but complete DNA manipulation n replication is another

Kinda want to do an Xcom RP. Problem is, i kinda want to get my Thalmor RP done at some point. That and i don't know if anyone would be interested in Xcom RP. Think of Kerr's Alien RP, MIB. Xcom is not like that. Just humanity's first and last line of defence. Even if i do it, i don't know if i should go for a select squad investigating the aliens approach or a commander sending a squad to either set up a smaller base or just go with an insurgent route(something like Xcom 2 but more closer to Xcom's failure.)

My Alien RP, are you talking about Delta Green? The X-Files meets Call of Cthulhu, investigate alien/paranormal conspiracy stuff which I feel I still want to do. I have ideas for it like this would be a cool idea for a quest, write it down, but haven't planned it out in massive detail. I mean for one thing I'd need to read through Delta Green and then decide if it's actually going to be Delta Green or just similar to Delta Green, so being paranomal/alien conspiracy stuff. Hopefully I'd get enough interest to start it up.

But I actually ran XCOM in all but name. It was called They Came From Beyond The Stars! Much like how Silicon & Sorcery was thinly veiled Shadowrun, They Came From Beyond The Stars! was thinly veiled XCOM. XCOM isn't a bad idea by any means, but I screwed up big time. It was a mess and I have a lot of regrets looking back on it.

If you want it to be similar to XCOM but not use space aliens, you could have it be like Terror From the Deep and they come from the ocean or the Silurians from Doctor Who and they come from underground.

That is a good suggestion. I may do it like Terror from the Deep. Admitly, i would be tempted to throw in A muton and A Chryssalid just to be cruel. Although, i think, having a Xcom failed, now, you must do something could work. Kinda thinking of having a prototype squad of Generic Superiority or Advanced MECs being the survivors and the fight continues but i think, that would be prone to failure due to length and well, EXALT would probably be a fleshed out faction. ALthough, i could do a Declassified type RP.

If i were to do an XCOM RP set after the events of the reboot and bare in mind that i will spoil the ending. It's 4 years old and well, i feel that setting it a decade or two after it is enough for me to do a decent RP.

Basicallly, the concept is that you are part of a squad sent to investigate signs of a new Invasion but due to cutbacks from the Council of Nations out of the belief that the threat is over and Earth does not need it's first and last line of defence due to no signs of aliens for a decade at least, XCOM operates as a glorified erm..... i want to say detective agency. Researchers, Engineers, soldiers are roles that the PCs would be in. And no, no piloting MECs.

Delta Green:

I was wondering what people make of the structure I was thinking of using which would be pretty different from how most of my RPs have been structured. So instead of dumping PCs in a city with an overarching objective and then tackling it by doing sub-objectives and maybe some side quests along the way, this would be far more episodic and those episodes could (in-universe) be separated by several weeks. Basically it would be structured like a mini-series of The X-Files with an overarching story and also individual episodes or cases as I'd probably call them. And I'd have either 4 or 5 cases in total.

So Case 2 could be called "The Jersey Devil" set in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Once Case 2 ends, we'd jump ahead two weeks to Case 3 "Phantom Freeway" which is set in Garden City, Georgia. And while there might be some connections in both to an overarching plot, the episodes would be mostly separate affairs although with the same PC investigating them of course. So, yeah, it would be like The X-Files or show like The X-Files in how it is set up.

It's different sure, but that's not inherently bad. I don't think all RPGs should be structured the same way. And I'm wondering what people think of that kind of structure as opposed to my to typical one.

XCOM: Harbinger

In the year 2015, Humanity discovered that it was not alone in the universe in the worst way possible. An unknown force of beings from space had declared war on earth and the technology, armies and resources were ill suited to combat the threat. Thousands after thousands perished as the Aliens attacked anything and everything in sight until a secret project was activated. It was the XCOM project. A small elite organisation commisoned by the Council of Nations for the sole purpose of being Earth's first and only line of defense. The worst and best soldiers were recruited. The best minds and the best technology earth had to offer were given to them. At first, they took heavy losses but by August 2015, they began to push back. Cities were saved, countries on the verge of surrendering were convinced to stay. The brave men and women of XCOM pushed back the aliens with strange abilities and advanced weaponory.

The war ended on the 1st day of 2016 but earth was changed. Several new discoveries were released by the organisation and by the year 2020, Earth went from a primitive race to one that was ready to combat any threat. Plasma ruled the day, fossil fuels were a thing of the past and the armies of every country were capable of taking on anything. But as the decades went past, the XCOM project slowly declined. Countries pulled their funding due to there being little to no sign of another invasion. Within 6 decades, XCOM went from being the first and only line of defense to a glorified agency. It's purpose? To investigate any and all incidents involving aliens. It was meant to be a small gesture but the world knew that XCOM had saved them in the past. However, humanity grew ignorant of the threat of invasion and in the year 2100, the project was on the verge of being dismantled. It barely functioned as an organisation but Humanity was in for one nasty surprise. A small team of soldiers, researchers and engineers were sent to investigate a small UFO crash in the nevada desert but what they discovered would pit humanity against a superior foe again.

Speaking that I quite like Planetside 1, I'd love to incorporate that somehow into an RP of my own make. The lore would be modified to suit my needs, of course.

What will be like and where will be hosted? I dunno, but my own forums are a start.

Never heard of it, but it sounds neat.

Also...

Coming soon, Fire Emblem: Death Knell of a Dying Land

Yeah, CotA's getting a sequel. An RP sequel.

Here's a quick primer of the state of the land and the important figures from the previous story.
Hidden:
20 years after Call of the Abyss...

Basic Summary of the events of Call of the Abyss
Spoiler:
After winning the twin cities of Ebonreach and Bellhall as a power base, Isaac investigated the occupied mayor's office of Ebonreach where he and his retainers encountered a walking fish-man (or a naga of myth, I suppose), the mysterious Icthyus that had coordinated the Ormican occupation of the city. In the ensuing fight, Isaac's beloved bodyguard Faye was slain, the victim of Icthyus' poisonous fangs.

After holding Faye's funeral, Isaac added finding out more about Icthyus and his people to his campaign goals, believing them to be the cause behind the sinking of Estralis. In dire need of additional forces, Isaac pursued Ned's recommendation of tracking down his brother's bandits, so that they may be recruited to the cause. Within Ted's fortress, Ned beat his brother in a hand-to-hand brawl and killed him afterwards, assuming control of the bandits under Isaac's banner. Isaac then promised to grant Ned reign over the region, naming him Duke Edward of Vaike.

Their next move was to remove the Arcymis forces from an important fort on the border of the nation. With the help of a young woman named Vesper, they found a prisoner by the name of Nah. Nah was a manakete (a direct descendant of divine dragons, with the power to shapeshift into a dragon) and the 'Voice of Naga'; the world's link to the vague words of the Dragon Goddess, Naga (much like the Listeners of the Dark Brotherhood).

Nah lent her divine insight to the Estean campaign after the Arcymians were forced out of Esteos, and informed Isaac of the existence of a divine blade; Curtana, the 'Blade of Mercy', which was held by the ruler of Indartis, High Judge Magister Weiss. A former relic of Isaac's royal family and a work of the manaketes of old, Curtana would allow Nah to directly commune with Naga herself.

Pressing on the Indartis forces was next on the line; on the way Isaac's company encountered and recruited a former Judge of Indartis named Cedric, who had defected shortly after the campaign began. His daughters Eve and Eden accompanied him, and with their help the Esteans successfully infiltrated a village held by the Indartians, freeing the indentured villagers within.

On their way back to the Twin Cities, Isaac's company was caught and confronted by Judge Magister Weiss himself, who freely gave up Curtana to Isaac out of indifference attacking, prompting the grand Battle of the Maelstrom.

Though heavy casualties were sustained (particularly Duncan the monk), the Esteans found themselves to be the victors after slaying two of Weiss' high-ranking officers and fellow judges, prompting a full Indartian retreat. All that remained were the Ormicans in the west.

Before this, Isaac gathered his closest retainers and went with Nah to speak with Naga through the power of Curtana. In a revealing conversation, Isaac discovered that both he and his strategist, Kasumi. were descended from the ancient chieftan Romulus and a manakete woman, making Isaac and Kasumi direct descendants of the Dragon Goddess herself; possessing blessed blood, they were considered to be 'Touched by Naga'. Additionally, Naga elaborated on King Romulus' conflict with the race of fish-men to which Icthyus belonged; the 'Abyssnians', who served their serpentine God-king the 'Leviathan'. The Leviathan had been defeated twice before, and each time it returned to slumber, the Abyssnians had gone with it. The sinking of Estralis and the re-emergence of the Abyssnians meant that someone was trying to summon the Leviathan once more in order to destroy the entire world; using the massive death toll from the sinking of Estralis as a catalyst for the summoning ritual.

After the commune with Naga, Isaac and the others returned to the Twin Cities for a rest. During their downtime in which they recuperated and resupplied, Isaac's vassal named Ririka was put in charge of putting on the first annual Dragon Festival, which entailed several festivities; including a joust, a grand melee, the knighting of the newly founded Knights of the Prismatic Flame, and the marriage of Daud to Kasumi. Isaac's uncle, King Ghayle, and his daughter Princess Kimata, visited for the festival as well, and stayed in the Twin Cities for a time.

Once the festivities concluded and the army was ready to march once more, they moved on to attack the city of Whitemere, where the Ormicans had their strongest fortifications. Shortly before the battle, Daud was attacked and bitten by an Abyssnian, suffering the poison and falling close to death. Nah intervened by stabbing Daud in the chest with Curtana, draining the divine power from the blade and healing Daud with the power of Naga. With the blade drained, the healing was no longer an option in the case of a bite.

The siege of Whitemere was a resounding success and the Esteans pushed back the final occupants of Esteos, as well as taking the general of the Ormican forces as a prisoner. From there they made a direct visit to the Chancellor of Ormica, demanding answers on her involvement with the Abyssnians. She scoffed at Isaac and had her guards attack him and his party, but they managed to escape the city without answers. Ned stayed behind to assassinate the Chancellor before accompanying the others out back to the Twin Cities.

When they returned, they were shocked to find King Ghayle murdered, and Princess Kimata missing. The princess' involvement in the crisis was now suspect, and with all the nations pushed out of Esteos, Isaac's company were free to enter the Maelstrom with the help of Naga, in order to pursue the Leviathan's summoner and the Leviathan itself.

The party fought through the sunken ruins of Estralis and managed to reach the sunken castle. Within they found Kimata, presiding over a black portal in the floor of the Throne room. Varos, a swordmaster who had originally been lent to Isaac by King Ghayle, accompanied the Princess as her bodyguard. She explained that she had developed a disgust with humanity after her beloved mother passed away, a victim of a peasant plague she caught when trying to appease rioters years past. Using forbidden knowledge and magics, she orchestrated the sinking of Estralis with the similarly demented Chancellor of Ormica, killing hundreds of thousands of people and beginning the resurrection of the Leviathan.

The Leviathan's portal used the souls of the dead as fuel, thus preventing those souls from passing on to the afterlife. However, the portal could not be dispelled, except through the summoning of the Leviathan. After battling and defeating Kimata, the disgraced princess explained that the Leviathan needed a divinely touched soul as a vessel, else the portal would remain and trap lost souls for centuries or even millennia to come. This left the Esteans with two options for the vessel; Isaac or Kasumi, who were blessed with divine blood, while Nah remained aboveground keeping the path back to the surface stable.

Isaac and Kasumi both readily volunteered their lives as sacrifice for the Leviathan's return, that they may kill it once it appeared in order to spare the souls of the dead. However, Daud had a realization; when he was healed of his toxic bite by the touch of Curtana, he became 'Touched by Naga' in a different sense; whatever the case, he held divine essence in his body, and he sacrificed himself so that his liege or his newly pregnant wife wouldn't have to. Through Daud's body, the Leviathan emerged from the portal, and after a vicious battle that claimed several lives, Isaac and his remaining vassals managed to slay the Leviathan, sealing it away once more. With the souls of the dead now free to pass on and the threat to the world contained, Isaac and his friends returned to the surface.

From there, Isaac was free to reign over his newly rebuilt country, this time as King Isaac. He, however, had bigger plans...
The World / Nations
Spoiler:
Continent of Castradea Romula

After ascending to the Throne of Esteos, Isaac married Naomi and got to work with establishing foreign relations, including a formal peace treaties with Arcymis, Ormica, and Indartis. From there he also assumed the crown of Albium since he was the last remaining member of the family, and saw a vision for the future of the continent of Castradea.

Seeing as Esteos was founded upon two separate kingdoms, and while also holding the crown of Albium, Isaac found himself ruling over three separate kingdoms simultaneously. Thus, he proclaimed manifest destiny in the name of his ancestors, and formed the Empire of Romula. As Primus Imperator Romula, Isaac rapidly began the rebuilding of the Estean countryside as well as incorporating the land of Albium. Romula began a massive superpower thanks to Esteos' natural resources and Albium's bountiful harvests.

Holding the crown of the Kingdom of Old Romula for himself, he bestowed the Crown of the Kingdom of Esteos on Kasumi, and the Crown of the Kingdom of Albium on his wife, Empress Naomi. Kasumi was thus the new Vassal-Queen of Esteos under the Romulan Empire, with her and Daud's newborn son Daichi as the Crown Prince of Esteos.

With Romula dominating half of the continent, the old name 'Castradea' soon fell out of use in favor of the name Romula. The Continent came to be synonymous with the Empire upon within, with the other three nations paling in size.

Indartis

Indartis fell victim to intense political strife after Judge Magister Weiss' failure in Esteos. However, it was the declaration of Rebellion by Judge Cedric that tipped the country into total civil war. Cedric was hung publicly soon after, but the spark of revolution that he kindled was already blazing fast. As of the present time, the Indartian Civil War (popularly known as the 'War of the Wyvern') has been raging for nearly 20 years. There are several proclaimed kingdoms fighting for dominance over the country, in opposition with each other and Weiss' loyalists alike. Judge Magister Weiss rules over his remaining territories with an iron fist, and his martial law is harshly infringing on the lives of the peasantry. Critics of the war predict that he will either be defeated, or will grind the remains of his country to dust in his pursuit of victory.

Arcymis

Arcymis remains largely the same; non-magical citizens are considered second-class to the ruling mages, whose libraries are unrivaled. Arcymis is currently ruled by the traditionalist Archmage Claudius.

Ormica

Ormica remains a trade nation of unified city-states, under the rule of Chancellor Ilia. Though not as prosperous as they were in times past, times are kind in Ormica thanks to their trade alliance with the Empire of Romula, and the rulers are considering the ramifications of vassalizing themselves under Emperor Isaac. Currently the coasts of Ormica are being plagued by the rampaging pirate queen, Ursula.

Other Developments

In a showing of cooperation, Isaac has authorized the creation of a politically neutral academy for the training of defenders known as Watchmen. This academy, known as Watchman's Keep, trains combat-able warriors, mages, and others so that a standing force may be raised against any nation that may threaten the peace of others; be it Romula or any other. The Academy rests on an island off the eastern coast of Arcymis.

The Church of Naga, founded by Nah in response to requests by her followers, is now the dominant religion on the continent of Romula, and is based in the city of Faithcrest in northern Romula. Nah remains at the head of the church, but is becoming increasingly distant.
Important People

Veterans of the Maelstrom War
Spoiler:
Emperor Isaac and Empress Naomi

Isaac remains on the throne, approaching the beginning of his third decade as the Emperor of Romula. He is 42 years old.
Naomi, operating as both Empress and spymaster of Romula, maintains a spy network spanning the entire continent. She is 40 years old.

The couple has three children; Crown Princess Raven (Age 19), Prince Lucius (Age 17), and Princess Edea (Age 14). Raven is a model student in the art of ruling, and aspires to be an Empress worthy of her father's legacy someday. Lucius has become a fledgling socialite and holds many parties for delegates both foreign and domestic. Edea is a martial-minded 'young lady', and hopes to become a knight.

Queen Kasumi

As Queen of Esteos, Kasumi oversaw much reconstruction of the devastated Estean countryside. She also oversees the construction of educational institutions within the Empire. She never remarried after losing Daud in the depths of Estralis. She is 42 years of age.
She has one son, born of her short union with Daud; Daichi, age 20. Daichi has undergone rudimentary training as a knight, but chafes under the weighty legacy of his legendary father.

High Commander Silas and Maestra Vesper

Silas (age 44) remains Isaac's closest friend and confidante, as well as serving as the second-highest Romulan military commander (under Isaac himself) and Marshal of Isaac's council. His wife Vesper (age 39), formerly a servant of Nah and later principal flutist of the Royal Romulan Orchestra, now serves as the Maestra of the Orchestra. People from all over the continent come to New Estralis to watch performances under her guiding hand.
The couple has three sons; Aidan (age 16) and twins Darius and Gabriel (age 14), all three of them musical prodigies who play in the orchestra under their mothers' direction.

Ser Ririka and Headmistress Luna

Ririka (age 38), having retired from the knights' life and married Luna, now spends her days as the coordinator of festivals and events for the Empire. Her wife Luna (age 43), having similarly retired as a Knight of the Prismatic Flame, serves as the first Headmistress for Watchman's Keep, training the heroes of tomorrow to keep the peace in Romula and beyond. The couple adopted no children.

Duke Edward ("Ned") of Vaike and Imperial Inquisitor Alora

Ned (age 47) remains the Duke of the forest-heavy region of Vaike in midwest Esteos, alongside his wife Alora (age 40) who holds the office of Imperial Inquisitor under Isaac. They have four children; triplets Ezekiel, Riley, and Gamlen (age 18), and youngest son Julius (age 12). All 3 triplets hold public office, while the young Julius is an unruly child who plays pranks around his home.

Duke Caelestis and Duchess Eve Harcrow

Cael (age 40) and Eve (age 37) continue to rule over the duchy of Daud's Hill, and are largely absent from public life, dedicating much of their other time to raising their one daughter Victoria (age 13).

Gale Lancewind and Eden Lancewind-Harcrow

Gale (age 41) serves as the curator of the Carn Memorial Museum of Dark Magic in Arcymis, and is renowned worldwide as the pioneer of Light Magic tomes. His wife Eden (age 42) is an author, social activist for non-magical citizens, and a doting housewife. They have two children; daughter Veronica (age 13) and son Carn (age 7).
Judge Magister Weiss

Leader of the resisting regime in the civil war-torn Indartis, Weiss (age 53) fights to keep his vision for Indartis alive. His right-hand man, Mordred (age 51) remains an incredibly talented swordmaster and a veteran of many battles. The two men and their various retainers and soldiers are generally incredibly distrustful of Esteans.

This took a couple of hours but it was nice to revisit this. This is of course still a work in progress, subject to change and elaboration, etc etc.

Maybe a Pokemon RP utilizing my own villains. It'd be darker than anything usually in Pokemon.

Did anything ever come of TSO's ideas for a new Soulless Collection?

Sadly a lot of talk and not much else, I have been busy with other pursuits even such outside the forums.

Right, so Delta Green, Eclipse Phase and Elder Scrolls are all RPGs I want to run eventually. But I'm wondering if I should run Delta Green after Fallout ends or if I should run TES. And if people would even be interested in me running a TES RPG with Tamrielic Adventures going on.

And yes, it would be after Fallout ends. I feel running two RPGs at the same time was a mistake and I imagine it's part of why Diesel hasn't been great, because I haven't been able to give it my full attention. It hasn't been awful or anything like that, but it hasn't been up to my usual standard which is all my fault, not the players' fault. So I wouldn't start anything new until Fallout ends (and I'm almost certain Fallout is going to end after Diesel, I actually think I'll be kickstarting the endgame of Diesel soonish.)

So would people rather I run Delta Green (Call of Cthulhu meets X-Files) or an Elder Scrolls RP? Keeping in mind I want to do both eventually and I already have more ideas for how I'd run Delta Green. Just curious as to what people are interested in seeing. And regardless of which I run I'd want to put a good amount of planning into it.

That's a shame about D&D Kerr. I am enjoying it but hearing that the endgame could be kicked into gear after what feels like just after the prologue is disappointing. Oh well. There is no reason why you can't run a TES RP, Kerr. TA2 is more or less slow and doesn't seem to be plot heavy. Delta Green sounds excellent even if it could end up overshadowing my Xcom RP. I am of course kidding about it. :)

Seeing as this thread is active at the moment, i probably should do an update on my Xcom RP. Kinda forgot about it for a few weeks. Do intend on resuming work on it. I've decided after it was suggested to me by a certain Kul that all PCs will be part of Alpha Team or Beta Team(No, Beta, it's not named after you so no cakes for you as part of any royalties). Pretty much using the classes from Enemy Within without the Psi-ops or Mechs. Psi-op class, overpowered and well, it would require me to depend on everyone picking it if i were to allow that and slot it into the plot. Basically, XCOM is more or less reduced to a shell of it's former self in the future.

Promotions may be part of it but i may forgo that just to keep it simple and no, despite XCOM liking to troll players by having them miss at point blank range, i won't do that. Provided, i work on it every day or everyweek, i may get it up by the end of this month or early April.
