Re: Skyrim General Discussion
Yeah, if your a tinker mage>_> an enhanced dwarven crossbow would be most fitting, even when enchanted. Buff your bolts with posion or pop in a potion, most of alchemy is essentially experimenting.. which would be a tinker's delight<_<
As per other gear, maybe try and stick to a theme or trend when possible... so maybe pair up some matching guantlets and boots with your robes. Personally I'll go with the cultist set paired with Krosis or any of the masks really, and for the extra def wear a falmer helmet underneath the mask(it won't add to your look but the def helps).
Have you considered your play style? 1-H and a staff? Shield and 1-H/Staff? Or maybe dual wield a staff? Your character shouldn't be physically focused, be that they are handycap'd from magic<_< so while you may use a crossbow or a simple weapon.. you shouldn't be charging in like a brute. The only downside I can see with this character would be gathering those scrolls.. or the right staff for the deed

Re: Skyrim General Discussion
Apparently, Thanes can sleep with Jarls. My character was just finished doing Brunwulf's (after the Battle for Windhelm) bandit hunting quest, but it was night, so he was obviously sleeping in the Jarl's quarters. My character was just about to talk to him and noticed that his bed did not have the (owned) keyword, so after turning in the quest and waiting for Brunwulf to get back to sleep, my (female) character decided to nap with him (after sipping a little of his blood because my character is a vampire)

I'm gonna have a nap with Balgruuf then. He can be the little spoon.

Oh, several of my female characters had slept with Sidgeir. And some of the males too.

Re: Skyrim General Discussion
Vingalmo wants to turn Haran into a vampire, so that she can spy on the College of Winterhold. For some reason, he doesn't feel like asking the Archmage about the College. The Archmage that is standing right in front of him. Even after becoming lord of Castle Volkihar, if you want to take any of (your) items from the display cases, you still have to lockpick them, like a common thief.
Re: Skyrim General Discussion
Say, I notice the page one one-handed perks notes Dual Flurry is bugged for certain add-on weapons. Does anyone know of any weapons to avoid? I'm playing through my first dual wield character. I'm also a little concerned about indications I've seen elsewhere of other bugs related to the perk. I put in for the second level of it some time ago and didn't realize it might be bugged.

Yeah not good planning on the game designers, this can be notice in many places.MidbossVyers wrote:Vingalmo wants to turn Haran into a vampire, so that she can spy on the College of Winterhold. According to http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Deceiving_the_Herd Sybille Stentor is a valid target for the quest. Tell me, Feran. How is killing someone who actually is a vampire supposed to reduce the credibility of the Dawnguard?

Re: Skyrim General Discussion
I've just read the page you linked. According to my current reading of it (wikis are sort of like Elder Scrolls— they'll change on you at a moment's whim) Sybille is listed as a viable target in the Unofficial patch, and she's listed in the wrong city (Riften instead of Solitude).MidbossVyers wrote:According to http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Deceiving_the_Herd Sybille Stentor is a valid target for the quest. Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Smart Dawnguard. I was playing a vampire Legionnaire in the wilderness where I was attacked by some Dawnguard. I knew of an Imperial fort nearby, so I tried to have my Legion fight the Dawnguard, so I ran to the fort. When I got there, the Dawnguard didn't follow.

Re: Skyrim General Discussion
Hey everyone,
So I recently wrote a really short fan fic about Irileth and Balgruff. I relied on her wiki page for some info, so my story is somewhat based on this sentence:
Except I can't remember where this was mentioned in the game! Was it in dialogue (when/where/who)? a book? Any links... quotes... whatever, can help clarify this. Also I was reading the elder scrolls wikia and they said that Irileth was part of the Morag Tong... I don't remember hearing/reading this in the game either so I must've missed something?
Thanks for reading!
p.s. I haven't played skyrim for a year so I'm a little rusty with the in-game story.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Irilethlthough it is highly uncommon for a Dunmer to serve as housecarl in Skyrim, Irileth and Balgruuf fought in many battles together when they were younger. When Balgruuf was named as Jarl of Whiterun, she demanded that she be his housecarl, on account of their long-forged battle-bond.

I believe Irileth tells you that if you ask her how a Dunmer became a housecarl. I haven't talked to her in a long time, though, so I may be wrong.all_freed wrote:Hey everyone,

edit: darn now I'm scared my story might not make sense for several reasons. Oh well... should've done more research first and make a few drafts, instead of posting it right away.

Ulfr the Blind must have hearing problems, as well, if he can mistake the voice of a young elf girl for that of a big, burly Nord guy.

I have restarted so many times of late, I don't even bother talking to Arvel the Swift any more. I just walk up and deliver one standard dual-wield swipe to free him from the web, followed by a dual-wield power attack before he can even stand.
I mean, the quest instruction even says "Cut Arvel down"— so I did.

I have always pretended that the player character attempted to deepen their voice or something to sound more Nordic when talking to Ulfr. It doesn't seem so weird that way.MidbossVyers wrote:Ulfr the Blind must have hearing problems, as well, if he can mistake the voice of a young elf girl for that of a big, burly Nord guy.

Btw what race do you tend to play as most, Dark Spark? (random curiosity)

Imperial, Breton, and Orc. Both Max and Victor (Dark Elf and Redguard, respectively) are more character studies while Cassie, Talma and Tihm are like my personal id, ego and superego in play.

This is what I do as well. I like to think there's a reason the dialogue option says "Yeah." instead of "Yes.".Ripcage wrote:I have always pretended that the player character attempted to deepen their voice or something to sound more Nordic when talking to Ulfr. Re: Skyrim General Discussion
*gleefully amused* I just found and read the Book Dunmers of Skyrim by Athal Sarys.
I pretty much lost it. What a laugh. The irony is that I totally agree with the writer. XD. He means every word and I agree but it's so hilarious. I've never seen anyone diss nords like that before.
*continues chuckling heartily for another 10 minutes*

Re: Skyrim General Discussion
I wish to thank the wiki contributors for saving me many times over. You have saved me hours of useless searching for an item or frustration in completing a broken quest. Thank you for all you do.
Recently I had a wild hair and wanted to find a set of books. I know over time I have owned all of them but lord knows where they went..
Wiki to the rescue, looked, found and catalogued Beggar, Thief, Warrior & King. (reading them in order next time I play Skyrim)
Thanks!!

Does anyone know if the difficulty affects poisons?
Also, do critical hits stack with sneak attacks?

I do not know whether I should be offended or amused @ writer.
What a lowlife, going hating on mages and archers. ugh. It makes me so mad. =_= Skyrim really is so backwards and retarded with their idiot traditions. ugh. Welcome to the fourth era, you oafs.
