I've done that once too. Only once though. I think it may have something to do with hitting it flush. Also check the ship's level. Chances are if you have fully upgraded weapons, the ship may be far enough under you that a solid mortar hit can one shot it

same here. I've had one time where a single mortar took down a man o war. I think its likely a glitch because it never happened again

Most likely as i've not been able to do that. But if it does turn out that every ship has a weak point that can reduce it's health down to the point where we can board, it's a nice touch by Ubi.

Wouldn't be very realistic. Heck its already pushing it that ships keep uncovered, undefended powder kegs just lying around their decks, usually that would be below deck

The game is a time sink thouvh. Started playing at ten one day. Next time I looked at the clock it was half three. Whaaaaat.

I'm pretty good and quick with most of my raids. Don't bite much more than I can chew. Easy to fix once you know how in the naval parts.

Turns out I can sink a frigate within seconds. :O I'm 20 hours in and not near the halfway mark due to me doing stuff. Oh and i've conquered every fort.

Welp. I can't handle two man 'o' wars. A shame you can't have your fleet follow you around, that'd be cool.

Just finished and I must say.. Wow. Just.. Wow. Edward. You are my faveourite Kenway, Connor is the bottom, with haytham (I know I must burn for this buut) second. A shame one can't use daggers apart from throwing them, that is fun.

Now to sail forth and plunder the legendary ships! ARRR

I tried taking on a legendary ship. Got my arse, face, arms and torso handed to me within seconds. So when i do return to it, won't bother doing it untill i've upgraded everything. Oh and one cost me 2 man o wars due to it entering the damn battle. So much metal and sugar lost!

Metal is the most scarce material in the game. That's what is stopping me from upgrading everything, metal and money. The two follies of a pirate.

It's metal and wood for me. Cash is not a problem due to me being able to take on the ships with excellent loot. Although i did er... i did kinda get killed by a scooner after i had disabled 2 frigates.

Later in the game you commonly find ships with 100+ metal

To me this is a very fun game.. I have only played the first and the 2nd AC, what steered me away was the repetitiveness of the areas.. Every area has things to do but once you have done one area and move on you end up seeing the same stuff jes in a new area.. I hated that.. Now on to black flag, I was excited, hoping to fill that need AC 1 left.. Same dang thing.. I hate how they make this game.. It has so much potential but yet I find myself doing the same thing over and over and over again..even the story line is very repetitive.. Follow a guy, kill a guy, hide in the allotted areas, eaves drop.. So I got on my ship and sailed the ocean blue... Well I can say they did a little better here, hell they should of jes mad a pirate game.. But then again it's the same boring mess on the ship too.. I have boarded hundreds of ships, harpooned everything there was to harpoon at least twice.. Man I know collecting resources is a chore but if they only had another way, like building a wood camp or mine at your cove to help out instead of boarding ships for 6 hours... I love this game, 25 hours in 35% but I'm kinda bored with it now.. I will probably jes finish the story and trade it in, I don't see myself exploring every location because there is nothing there that I haven't seen or done already 20 times.. TES always had me searching for something, even if I had the best gear in the game, I always explored that cave jes to have a look in the chest.. 2000 hours at least from Morrowind to skyrim and everywhere in between.. AC jes doesn't capture me like that... I find myself rushing through the story now...
