Assassains Creed:Black Flag
Here be the thread to disccuss yer thoughts about ye game called Assassains Creed:Black Flag. Ye be warned for it may contains spoilers to the previous games. Ye have been warned. Now give me a bottle of rum and plunder some loot.
It's excellent. Love the naval battles and how one simple battle can turn into a "OH [&@%!]! WHY DID I CHOSE TO ATTACK THIS SHIP?!" when more ships turn up. Would heavily recommend avoiding getting into a battle when a frigate is near by as it will kick your arse.

I'm waiting til' Christmas to get it, the only time of the year when I can mooch off my relatives, guilt-free. Plus, it'll be cheaper.
And by the way, didn't we already have a thread for this?

I couldn't find it. I looked for it yesterday but gave up after page 3 or 4 due to every thread being locked.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
The best course of action would be to ask a mod to merge this with the Assassin's Creed 3 thread and just call it Assassin's Creed.

Arrrrsassin's Creed!
I've never been a fan of the Assassin's Creed series (I only enjoyed 1 and 2, and my love for the Revolutionary War made me enjoy the third one), and I probably won't get this new one. What do you guys think though? One of the better ones?

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
It is. Apart from a bit of [&@%!] pulled by ubisoft, it is a lot better then AC3. They have restricted the fleet minigame to those with online passes and have to be online to use it in the singleplayer thus meaning i can't use my fleet. DOes give me an excuse to engage in plenty of naval battles.

You know the homestead thingy in 3? It's AC4's version of that. Just with pirates. I think. I have no clue due to the [&@%!] making it something you have to be online to use!

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
Very fun game. I was sailing earlier when I noticed 6 ships fighting each other. 2 British frigates and 1 man 'o war versus 3 Spanish frigates.
Coincidentally they were fighting in an area I had to go to. Never nope'd out of a location quicker.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I came accross a brig that had lost a battle with spanish. Turns out you can loot ships that have lost to other ships but you have to do it quickly. (for me, it was a minute).

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I managed to take down a Man O war. I spotted it on the horizon and saw what it was carrying. Twas worth the risk and saw a pirate ship attacking it. So i joined in and a few minutes later, i boarded it. Sunk it to repair my ship as she took a heavy beating. Mine is capable of handling Scooners without any trouble. Frigates tend to last a minute or two. Attempted to take a fort. Retreated after getting killed twice due to other ships getting involved and some hunters.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I managed to get luck as I was fighting a Man O'War. After I fired the first shot, nearly all of the health just vanished. After that, it was as simple as boarding anything else.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I think that may have been a glitch or your ship is overpowered. If it's the latter, i will be disappointed as i don't want to decimate Man O Wars as it would take the fun out of it.
Today, i encountered a legendary ship. Turned out to be 2 Man O Wars. I avoided engaging them in battle as i can barely take down a single normal man o war. Two would beat the [&@%!] out of me. Two legendary ones, [&@%!] no. I ain't touching that.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I stopped playing Assassins Creed after Brotherhood, mainly because Turkey and the US don't seem fitting for the franchise, and now how the hell are they going to do it with pirates? I was sort of hoping for Victorian England, that may be interesting, and it fits the dark streets and many roofs theme.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I remember trying to beat them. Used all of my mortars on one but barely put a dent in its health. So I tried to be a bit more direct.... Lasted about a minute at most.Thelastdovah wrote:I think that may have been a glitch or your ship is overpowered. I'm at the point where nothing kills me outright unless i make a mistake but the fights are still challenging. Man o wars are still hard [&@%!] and legendary ships are still a no-go. Fought another one and that killed me within seconds. With it's chain shot.

I'm not exactly sure... I noticed that as well and thought that maybe they were important in some way, but they were never mentioned again.
I have to say the ending felt a little anti-climactic to me. I mean

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I've almost captured every fort. I've upgraded the ship and am at teh point where i can take down frigates without recieving too much damage. Man O Wars are challenging but my mortars tend to make short work of them. Would heavily reccomend using mortars for frigates and man o wars to soften them up. Don't even give a man o war the chance to line up it's shot as it may kill you within seconds.

Oh wait. I think I've figured it out, why some Words begins with capitals.
It's mimicking the way people wrote in those times. Sooo stupid.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I've almost captured every fort. Only 3 left. The Jackdaw is very powerful and I can literally sink a frigate within a few minutes. Man O Wars are easier to fight and my mortars do a lot of damage to them. And I'm not even at the halfway mark yet of this second and serious playthrough. Would advise upgrading the hell out of it to make your lives easier. Oh and I've found myself with a minor problem. I have no use for cloth and it's just not worth selling. Have over 1000 pieces of cloth. Oh and i took on 3 frigates at once and won yesterday! I think i've literally got the elite stuff to unlock then it will be fully upgraded and those legendary ships shall be challenged!
Word of advise, use mortars as they can spell the difference between a victory and a win. Also, if you board the ship yourself without starting the boarding thing, you can bypass the objectives and lose nothing. Oh and I found me some buried loot.

I'm doing well for a useless pirate. Yet to touch the multiplayer. And Fleet is... Well useless, utterly useless.

Re: Assassains Creed:Black Flag
I can't even access the fleet due to the [&@%!] online requirement! Bloody Ubisoft.
Anyway, i'm a bit overpowered. I somehow managed to reduce a Man O War's health down to the state it was required to board with one mortar shot. :O Either it's a glitch or I somehow managed to destroy their entire supply of gunpowder thus causing that much damage in one hit.
