I suspect this thread is going to grow rather quickly before the Steam Sale is over. ;)

Darksiders 2. It was so dull! For the first couple of hours it was pretty fun, but after it was really dull.

Oh god. I have a ton of games I regretted buying. (Please ignore my bias against shooters.)
Hidden:
1: Battlefield 3: The reason I loath this game is that it is just any old boring US vs. Russia shooter. I also hate that it is multiplayer only (I wish that they canned campaign and brought back practice mode and lan). And finally, what I hated most about this game, was that the graphics are hideous. Why may I ask, is everything so colorless? And whats with that depressing blue color everywhere? Guess I was expecting too much from a greedy, dieing game company.

2: All Call of Duty games I bought (2 and 3): What a horrible game series. First horrible part: the single player. One thing I hate is linear gameplay. This series is full of it. I remember constantly failing one mission, because you had to snipe (oh god I hate aiming) some guy in a car, yet the bullets drop like arrows, and the car moves. How the hell do you hit a guy in a moving car from a mile away? The multiplayer is even worse. Whenever you kill someone they whine. Everyone is a sniper. What is the point of being a moron who sits still "sniping" in a cramped map? I thought sniping was for long range...

3: Just Cause 2: I bought this game because I wanted a game world that was detailed and huge. I was right about that second part. But was I wrong about that first part. The game's forests seem so dead. Not a single creature. Just sparse sprite birds that run away when you blow up a tree. And that game's story sucked, and felt very grindy.

4: Battlefield Heroes: This game is pure greed. There is basically no way to get a single weapon without paying ten dollars or grinding for a week. And guess what? That ten dollars was worth nothing, because all the weapons in that game suck. And when you grind you only get to keep the weapon for three days...

5: War of the Roses: Same as Battlefield Heroes. Greed greed greed. Except that you actually get to KEEP your stuff you grinded for. This game is full to the brim with whiners. Kill one person "OMG YU KIL ME!1!! NUB NUB HAX1!1!11!!!". Almost worse than COD, because the morons know your steam ID and ask to be your friend.

6: Chivalry Medieval Warfare: The only reason I ranked this higher than War of the Roses, is because it has singleplayer. The people in multiplayer are even more annoying than War of the Roses.

7: Battlefield 1943: You may ask "Why hate this game?" but it is not that I hate it, it is that I hate the lies of the developers. I never owned a console, and I don't plan to own one either, however this game claimed to be for PC. I pre-ordered it. About two years later, after waiting for this game to be done, they tell me that the game was never made for PC, and won't be released. That is when I started to hate EA. My favorite Battlefield was 1942, and that was WWII. I really only like shooters set in WWII, but there aren't any new ones theses days (ok ok, you can say Red Orchestra or Rising Storm, but the truth is, I prefer the simpler Battlefield series).

8: Buckets of Blood: Hah! Bet you never heard of this game. The only reason I bought it was because I had a Dell craptop at the time. It ran this game fine. But it sucked so much I only played it for a few hours. There is no point to playing it, and the enemies are weaker than Left 4 Dead zombies...

9: Sniper Elite: Why did I buy this game if I hate sniping (or aiming for that matter)? Because it was on sale for two dollars. There was a reason it was so cheap. It sucked. Why did it suck? Well, one, I hate aiming (my style of gaming is either slash and smash, or nuke them and let the radius kill them). But the real reason it sucked, it was unrealistic. The main character (as with all shooters) is Joe Superhero. He has way to much health to even be fair, and his guns do much more damage then is enemies guns.

10: James Cameron's Avatar the game: What a boring game. You pick pre-designed faces, and grind your way through an magical world that would seem to be fun to explore. But it isn't. The game is really just a fancy maze, which follows a very linear story. The player has no effect on the world whatsoever, and all the weapons are very weak.

11: Euro Truck Simulator: I bought this game to explore in. What exploring? All you can do is drive on roads. No exiting your truck, no NPC crashes, no exploring in cities, just highways. Boring.

12: Medal of Honor (the new one): I used to love the old Medal of Honors (WWII). The new one was just a COD reskin with better sounds.

13: Breach: This game sucks. I got it for "Realistic Destruction". Hell. Grand Theft Auto has better destruction. Breach's so called "Realistic Destruction" would make Mehrunes Dagon laugh. The only "destruction" is bricks. Shoot a brick, it falls out of place. Blow the bricks up, bricks fly everywhere, and the building stays up. Destruction my ass.

14: Train Simulator: This game is like Euro Truck Simulator, but with boredom on steroids. Unlike Euro Truck Simulator where you can cause mayhem, in Train Simulator, the only fun you can have is derailing.

15: Half-Life 2: I loved Half-Life 1, but I hate 2. The plot made no sense. In the first game, you slaughtered alien invaders, but in 2 fight so called "Combine". They just look, and act like reskins of the human soldiers. And whats with the filth everywhere? And the boring clothes everyone is wearing? Is this really a prison disguised as a city?

16: Lead and Gold: What a terrible game. A bland, dead, empty, boring, shooter set in the desert in the 1800s. The only interesting thing about this is the setting. And that is also why it sucks.

17: Battlefield 2142: Why do I regret buying this game? Because I was a moron at the time. You need to login to even play singleplayer. I made a stupid username I forgot. Now it is just wasted money.

18: Star Wars: Jedi Academy: This game is like a wannabe RPG. You start by creating a character, picking force to use, and what lightsaber you want. But after that, you become SUPER LINEAR SINGLEPLAYER GAME GOD! Everything dies. You become a sith, or destroy the sith. That is the only choice later in the game.

19: Spiral Knights: Even though I loved this game, I despise the greed it has gained. Your weapons and armor levels up! Congratulations it got stronger! But nowadays, you must pay or grind to get them to level up. Not to mention the pets. They are grind machines, that won't level up without about a century of grinding.

20: Day of Defeat (original): I got this for my old craptop. No one ever played multiplayer. There were no bots in it either. All I could do was explore the tiny maps.

Syberia 1 and 2 (bundle). Had such good reviews. The most boring game ever. Just watching the main character walk to the places youve clicked again and again and again with hardly else to do.

p.s. Wow Jeelius-Tei, that list must have taken a while to write!

You seem to have missed the point and plot of the game but it's ok.

Exactly what I thought. Combines are aliens and they enslaved humans, so yeah, City 17 is a prison in a sense.

Now on topic. I regret buying War of the Roses. The game is really fun, but my internet connection can't let me play it. I'm kicked due to ping higher than 200ms

Eternal sonata the most boring game ever! the story is slow, the fighing is turn based wich is fed up in boss fights, 6 overal characters to play and only 3 playable in battle so only 3 gain exp every fight, beside that some PC's just diapear in the story making leveling these PC a waste of time. Ofcourse you only figure this out when its to late... :(

and Fable 2, it was too short and when finished the main quest you only get the same quests in the same area the world is also to small
Mars wrote:How anyone ever thought Fable was a good game is beyond me.

Game of Thrones. Granted, I didn't expect much. But I didn't expect wanting to quit within 5 minutes of gameplay either.
You really have to get into this one, the story is quite slow and you need figure out the tatics. if you'r in battle just hacking and slashing everyone without proper target picking you can't even come past the 2nd lvl.
But after a time and start over a few times to get everything right its a really good game in my opinion that is ;) just need soo much time for it and thats a bummer:P

Mafia 2. It feels like a half finished game. There is literally [&@%!] all to do and this is an open world game. If you have included little to no side activities in your open world game, you have failed at developing an open world game. There is a mission which requires you to raise funds. In an open world game that has lots of side activities, that would be no problem. Here? It's a massive problem and i just gave up.

FF13. Can't remember if i've already said this or not. It's one corridor and uninteresting characters. The youngest is 14 and he kills without remorse. A [&@%!] kid kills without remorse. Seriously? the combat system was crap and it was boring at times. At least the soundtrack was decent. Okay, it didn't live up to the composer who usually composes the soundtracks for the FF franchise. Name escapes me at the moment but it was decent. Unlike FF13-2 which [&@%!] killed and butchered the corpse of the Chocobo theme with a [&@%!] heavy metal remix! It's.... *Takes a deep breath and moves on*

Ah! The FF13 discussion. While most people hate it, it is to me the second best game in the series, only behind 8.

Mafia 2 so much. There is literally nothing to do apart from story missions. Granted the story is pretty good, but very short, with nothing in between. Honestly didn't need to be open world.

I actually liked Mafia 2. It was my first open world game (maybe that is why), and I liked the setting. You don't really see many games set in the 40's/50's.

Mafia 2 had potential and the story was interesting but it should have either spent another year or so in development or just be a third person shooter as there is literally nothing to do. Okay, you can steal cars and bring them to a scrapyard for cash but that's just not very fun to do.

I got Borderlands some time ago and I remember having fun at first, but it got old fast. I never figured out why so many people loved it so much. I got to some town that I can't remember the name of and I quit. Just wasn't fun enough.

The only game I have ever regretted buying was Final Fantasy 7 (I think it was 7) on the psp. That game had worse dialogue than Godzilla. It was so bad, it was almost funny. It was like a MST3k movie without funny commentary. And the combat was terrible, especially that annoying slot machine in the corner. And it cost twice as much as a normal PSP game. What a ripoff.

I don't really regret getting any game I have since the ones that I find a bit lacking I got as a gift, bought very cheap or already had a bit low expectations. Like before getting Fable: The Lost Chapters, I already knew Molyneux was just sprouting bs and thus I didn't buy it for the hype but for other reasons. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare I got as a gift. It's fun but not the type of game I can stay invested in so I probably would have regretted buying it myself.

One thing that does annoy me is Bioshock 2. I got it cheap, I know I'll like it but I just can't play it because of the stupid Games for Windows Live system. I hate that program. It almost [&@%!] up my Dark Souls saves once but luckily I managed to save them. Anyhow, the program got this update or something and now proceeds to corrupt every save in Bioshock 2. So in order for me to play the game I should, once again, delete all saves, reinstall it and get this other version of GFWL and yadda yadda yadda, I just can't be bothered. Annoying! I probably would regret this if I didn't get the game so freaking cheap. Why can't I just play the game without these stupid programs which make everything complicated. You can't even save a game which is using GFWL if you aren't signed in. Stupid.
