Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
Okay, thanks for the info. ^^ I suppose my friend could always just install the disk version, since that doesn't require Steam at all.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I've heard this collection won't be sold for a long set of time; so don't wait to get it too long.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I got this a few days ago, too, and I have to say it's rather decent. I was expecting a little nicer of a box, but it looks awesome on my shelf, and the maps actually aren't too bad. Huge, though. I'm going to need more room to be able to frame all my Tamriel maps!
Super awesome collection for a TES collector, though. Well done, well done.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I concur. It also helps I did not own a single ES game on PC before this collection; great deal for me.
TES: Arena In The Elder Scrolls Collection
Hello,
Does anyone know if the version of TES: Arena in the new The Elder Scrolls Collection boxset is the Deluxe Cd-Rom version, the disket version, the GoG version (assuming it's on GoG?), or, what would be great, a new version with some enhancements? I mean, did they just throw the old files along with Dosbox?
EDIT: Sorry guys. My post was moved from the TES: Arena mini-forum, and I didn't realize there was this thread already, which answered my question.

I've heard, but have not confirmed, that it's the original disc version.

Musicman247 wrote:I'm really debating whether I should get this, as I own the games and content already (twice, since I bought it for Xbox 360 as well). The only things I lack are Skyrim's DLC, which would cost $45 if I bought it outright, and $22.50 if purchased on sale. Hmmm. Have some real thinking to do.
I was debating it fairly extensively too, as, similar to Musicman, the only items in the pack I don't already own are Skyrim's DLC, and I already own both digital and physical copies of Morrowind and Oblivion, so the $90-100 price tag is not exactly a great value monetarily speaking. That being said, because the pack seems to include additional Steam keys for Morrowind and Oblivion, I figure it's probably more worth getting the Anthology and potentially gifting those keys to someone else, than waiting to get the Legendary Edition of Skyrim on sale for the DLC.VirtualWeasel wrote:Same, I can reason to get it as a collector's item, but... that seems like a waste...

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
Seeing as you own them already, it's not worth getting apart from the sake of just having them. Lord Fluffykiins. Just the legendary edition for the Skyrim DLC as it should be $20-30.

Didn't stop me...
The anthology is actually rather nice. It's nothing too insanely special (I wish it had the extra side games as well), but it's definitely a very nice piece for the collectors among us. Which apparently Linkuya and I are. High five!

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I'm surprised they didn't throw in the spin off games but i suspect they did not really want to bring up how disappointing Battlespire and Redguard were or at least that's what i've heard about those games by chucking them into the anthology. That and i think Redguard was supposed to be the first in a spin off series called TES adventures so they didn't reall want to be reminded of it.

I agree Avron. Maybe if they were included, I would have bought it.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
It was an amazing deal for me though, seeing as I didn't own any of the games on PC. Couple that with the fact that they are physical copies, and those neat maps makes it a steal-of-a-deal for me.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I was actually disappointed they didn't. Redguard, for all its difficulties on a modern computer, is so hard, if not impossible, to come by, and you can't erase what you did, Bethy, so you might as well embrace it!Br3admax wrote:I agree Avron. Maybe if they were included, I would have bought it.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I think they would rather pretend it doesn't exist then include it in the anthology. Or just claim that a drunk Todd Howard accidentally deleted the files for it and they have no way of rereleasing them. Or M'aiq the Liar happened.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I'm not sure Bethesda is that displeased with how Redguard turned out. I would guess its absence from the anthology is probably due to the effort it would take to build an emulator-type program to run it on modern systems, and a wish to maintain the integrity of the main series brand.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I wasn't aware of anything that linked Fyr to the Apprentice. I'm genuinely interested as to the source.
As for whether Bethesda is ashamed, I'm certainly of the opinion that shame wasn't the reason for Redguard, and indeed other titles from the franchise, not being included in the anthology, but of course there's no way for any of us to prove or disprove that, or any, theory on the subject.

Too neat, though I doubt I'll ever be able to play Redguard thanks to it needing an old computer.
