WOOOOOOOO!
Even though my computer can't run the two newest ES games, I'm totally buying this for the shiggles. It's so awesome!

Yup. Looks like I have an excuse to play TES I, II and III. Also, is it just me or is 80 bucks dirtcheap for what you get in return?

Though I imagine people who have already bought the $60 legendary edition are quite mad that the two are released only a few months apart.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
No CompUSA patch for Daggerfall, no Morrowind plug-ins, none of the Oblivion DLC. Arena and Daggerfall are already free. They could have at least re-released the spin-off games. Apart from the new maps, this is a pretty pointless collection.

It includes to Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Knights of Nine and Shivering Isles. There may be other addons I'm unaware of but that seems pretty complete to me.

Just Adamantium Armor, Area Effect Arrows, Bitter Coast Sounds, Entertainers, Helm of Tohan, LeFemm Armor, Master Index, Siege at Firemoth, Fighter's Stronghold, Horse Armor, Mehrunes' Razor, Orrery, Spell Tomes, Thieves Den, Vile Lair and Wizard's Tower. Not much.p-sto wrote:It includes to Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Knights of Nine and Shivering Isles. There may be other addons I'm unaware of but that seems pretty complete to me.
Of course, the Morrowind plug-ins are all free, and I assume there won't be compatibility issues with them. Oblivion DLC, however, has historically been an utter pain to deal with in any legal way. I don't think the original installers even work with the Steam version of the game, and obtaining Fighters Stronghold without Steam is now impossible I believe. Luckily they're all available on Steam with the "gold/complete/ultimate edition" or whatever it is. Seems like Bethesda is only packaging the GOTY edition in this release though.

Well to be fair causal players such as myself were unaware most of those existed. Thanks for specifying.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
A shame really, they're all rather interesting additions. Bethesda's fault for not integrating them into the multiple re-releases of their games I guess. If you're interested, you can read about them here and here.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
Depends on how you look at it. For you, yeah. Pretty pointless. For me though, it offers me so much more. That price is basically a crime, I was expecting a good $240 at least. It's basically to get more players, and to get those like me who were brought in from Skyrim and Oblivion.legoless wrote:No CompUSA patch for Daggerfall, no Morrowind plug-ins, none of the Oblivion DLC. If Arena and Daggerfall come in new and fancy boxes, maybe I'll be interested.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
It'd be nice to see something that includes all the games, especially the elusive Redguard, but this is a great collector's piece, to be sure. I'll definitely be pre-ordering it.
All great add ons, to be sure. But you can download the Morrowind add ons from the Bethesda site (or could, correct?), so it's not much of a loss. This set is useless for me in terms of playability, since all of my games are patched and complete, but as a collector's piece? Super nice.legoless wrote:Just Adamantium Armor, Area Effect Arrows, Bitter Coast Sounds, Entertainers, Helm of Tohan, LeFemm Armor, Master Index, Siege at Firemoth, Fighter's Stronghold, Horse Armor, Mehrunes' Razor, Orrery, Spell Tomes, Thieves Den, Vile Lair and Wizard's Tower. Well, all I care about are the first 2, so if they release them in an optimized version for Steam or GOG (Unlikely), I'll be happy.
Edit: @Avron: I actually own the CD of Redguard, like hell if I want to ass myself to get the damned thing running though, haha.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
Tempting, very tempting. Those maps are gorgeous and so is the game box. Maybe someday when it goes on sale, but at this point in time I really don't have the extra money to spend.

I would buy this solely for the maps.

Upcoming Anthology Realease :Optimized Arena and Daggerfall?
In case y'all haven't heard:
http://www.bethblog.com/2013/08/01/the- ... september/
Bethesda is releasing a boxset of all the ES games for PC! (well, you know, the main series at least.)
My biggest curiosity is to how much (if any) work they've put into optimizing Arena and Daggerfall (which will still be playing through a DOS emulator I think), since it's been such a hassle to get them working smoothly on modern PCs.
But I also aint seen another thread about the upcoming Anthology Collection.

They are really cool though... If they release all of the maps alone I would buy them in a heartbeat. Talk about a worthy addition to my wall.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
It will be £50 here in the Uk so I think it's $70 in America. But I suspect it's cheaper to get the editions of Oblivion and Morrowind that have everything from Steam. Arena and Daggerfall are free from Bethesda's site.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I already own all five. Not all on PC but whatever. Arena and Daggerfall are both already free, as long as they aren't being cheap and removing the ability to download them for free I don't mind.
For people who don't own any/all of them it could certainly be worth getting. Getting a full series in one box is always a nice and convenient way to get it.

The games were already released into the public domain, you can always get them from a third party host.Knight Captain Kerr wrote:Arena and Daggerfall are both already free, as long as they aren't being cheap and removing the ability to download them for free I don't mind.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
I, like a lot of people, already have all the games/dlc. For me this would be a cool collector's item to look good on my shelf. I think the price is fair and I think if someone hasn't played the games but is interested in getting started, this is a great way to enter the series.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Anthology revealed
WOW! That's a low price!
That really is a amazing deal. You can barely get Skyrim and all the DLC for a little under that price. Gonna have to get me a PC to run all this.
That isn't the only deal they are having.
