Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Now that I'm playing a character who takes lycanthropy seriously the Ring of Hircine is pretty nice. I mean, in most cases you could just get away from enemies and wait for 24 hours if you didn't have it but that would be very time-consuming and annoying.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Sanguine's Rose and Wabbajack did well, but I could never really use them much. Mace of Molag Bol became severely outclassed quickly, and was retired when I got the Fiery Soul Trap enchantment and smithed a Scimitar, then enchanted it.
For me, I have the 'Breaker combo. Spellbreaker and Dawnbreaker, AWW YEAH! Though, since my Nord is a werewolf, I have to give my vote to good ole Spellbreaker. I've yet to see a better shield.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I voted for Mehrune's Razor because it's probably the artifact I use the most. A close second would be Azura's star. I don't really like Daedric Artifacts.

It's too bad Goldbrand wasn't available..
Azura's Star for general usefulness. Wabbajack for fun. Dawnbreaker for style. Ebony Mail for coolness.
The Razor is always nice too.. overall I never found too much use in these in Skyrim aside from collecting since I could smith and enchant things that were better.

No option for the Black Star. Wabbajack and Skeleton Key are both pretty useless.

Most are pretty useless, the Skeleton Key I would have thought would be the most useful at any level to compensate for half the lockpicking skill tree until you hand it over. I remember still getting experience from the Key. (opens any level-locked door too)legoless wrote:No option for the Black Star. Wabbajack and Skeleton Key are both pretty useless.
Volendrung, Skull of Corruption and Sanguine Rose are probably the most useless, especially the latter.

Honestly most tend to be for convenience than power<_< and the Wabbajack is just a fun tool at that.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Sanguine's Rose and Wabbajack are useful for dealing with strong foes. If you have high conjuration you would be better off casting your own spell but that doesn't make it useless. When there is a foe you just can't beat the wabbajack might just save your life by turning them into a sweetroll or something.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Lockpicking is pretty easy to train, seeing as you have to use it so often. And there's no shortage of lockpicks either. Unless you don't want to invest the perks, the Skeleton Key is made pretty redundant in the mid-game.Jun Satou wrote:Most are pretty useless, the Skeleton Key I would have thought would be the most useful at any level to compensate for half the lockpicking skill tree until you hand it over. Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Even without investing in the lockpicking tree, the lockpicking minigame is quite easy. There's also the tower stone which acts like an 'Open Lock' spell for chests up to expert once a day. Sure you can't unlock master chests with that, but these are quite rare and most of the time they only contain junk, so they aren't worth the effort anyway.legoless wrote:Lockpicking is pretty easy to train, seeing as you have to use it so often. In my opinion, Sanguines Rose and the Spellbreaker are the most useful ones. The Dremora summoned by Sanguines Rose is leveled and at higher levels it is actually superior to the 'Conjure Dremora Lord' spell. The Spellbreaker is very useful against dragons and combined with the Ward Absorb perk it can make shield mages (I love playing those) much more viable.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
The difference between the Skeleton Key and the others is that the Skeleton Key is not a reward item. Its purpose is in advancing a questline, and you have to give up the item for it to serve its purpose.
That's why I voted for Skeleton Key.

As one who is constantly using stealth, it just HAS to be the Ebony Mail. Accept no substitutes.

Why so few votes for Mask of clavicus? It's actually a great tool to increase your gold.. I always take it as soon as I can so I can make money by smithing and selling.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Most useful? Oghma Infinium.
Although on one hand I wish I had known of the exploit earlier. The game is so long and intensive, I'm timid to make another character. However, I will say that not using it the first time through made my experience more enjoyable. Just takes too long though, even to get the Oghma Infinium. I really don't want to start all over again with a low-level character as much as I'd love to replay the missions and fight all the bosses again. Maybe if I had more time I would.
Speaking of Daedric artifacts though, I really wish Ebony Blade was better. Even aside from the skill tree glitch, you can't even smith the s.o.b.

Wabbajack is pretty much the only Artifact I carry around endgame. The others I easily replace after a while with crafted weapons and armors.
Mobius One made it home.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I enjoy daedric items. I find them the most usual out of all the rewards I have received so far.
A lot on the poll I have not come across, but I have been using the mace of molag bal for ages, its my most powerful weapon (I dont smith).
I also couldnt be without the sanguine rose when in ruins, caves, dungeons etc, its so handy when ur too fearful or cant be arsed to fight things yourself.
The black star is good too, for charging the sanguine rose and my staff of fireballs. And the mace soul traps into the star. Bonza.

Well, in that circumstance it's different...Lord Cluttermonkey wrote:

I have "Conjure Dremora Lord" and I haven't one perk investment in the Lockpicking skill-tree, I have the Skeleton Key, a standing stone ability, a helmet other than the Aetheirum Crown so in my case I think Skeleton Key > Sanguine Rose.
A side note, sure, the Skeleton Key isn't a reward like the other items, I still gained lockpicking level experience from using it however, and you're not obliged to give up the Skeleton Key. It's handy, you need no perks in the skill tree and you do not need to collect every lockpick you find on the road.
All/most Daedric Artifacts aren't all that great at very high levels, I'm just saying an unbreakable lockpick, which usually requires a high lockpicking level (wasting perks on a bad skill tree), is given to a lower level, which in my mind, proves to be very useful.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Considering the fact I can usually order a follower to unlock those pesky Master level locked chests, the Skeleton Key is useless. Of the ones I've gotten or want to get, by the time I actually got around to Azura's Star, I had more soul gems than I knew what to do with and never even bothered with enchanting. I don't even use staves since you gain no experience from their use. Every great once in a while, I'd give one to a follower, but they usually got stuck carrying extra armor and their stock bow since I didn't want them killing everything and wasting experience points so at best I let them snipe and use them for pack mules. Let's see, I got Hircine's Ring, but never used it. I got Volendrung and mounted it along with Wuuthrad and the Shield of Ysgramor on a weapon placard in Honeyside, along with Nettlebane, The Axe of Whiterun and Grimsever. I think the one I used most was the Mask of Clavicus Vile because it made a nice contribution to my Barter and Ebony armor. I would like to give Spellbreaker a go, but I don't really need it either with all the Resist Magic the game practically throws at you between Breton racial bonuses, Agent of Mara, Alteration perks, the Lord Stone, enchantments, etc.
