Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Hey guys. I was wondering which Daedric Item people find most useful while playing. So thought I'll take a poll
Included are all Artifacts received through a Daedra. Please vote for the one which you find most useful for your character.

Oghma Infinium; everything else is useless.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Azura's star is the most useful, Wabbajack's the most amusing, The skeleton key saves 6 perks in lockpicking, and the Oghma used to be good for levelling up quickly if you couldn't be bothered.
The others just have display value at best for me...

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
In this game, soul gems just fall out of the sky, filled even. Azura's Star is convenient at best, but it's far from the most useful.

The real problem is the artefacts aren't all that good really.

The only useful one is the Oghma Infinium. the rest of the daedric equipment is quite useless.

I wonder how the Daedra must feel, knowing that I create items more powerful than the ones they create with their very life-essence.

The ring of hircine. Removing the silly once a day restriction on werewolves is nice. Now if only I could revert back at will as well...

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I like and use a lot of them. Azura's star, Masque of Clavicus Vile, Dawnbreaker, Ring of Hircine, Sanguine Rose, Wabbajack, Oghma Infinium, Spellbreaker and Ebony Mail until I get something better.
However Mehrunes' Razor is the most useful. It has a 1/50 chance of killing anything in one hit. When it comes to big nasty enemies like the tougher dragons it's great to use. Much better than any other blade. I killed the final boss of the story in one hit using it.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I voted Spellbreaker, I think its by far the best and most useful of these artifacts. I remember when I first got it on my first character even though they where using light armor the effect alone was so good that I used that as my main shield. I had 100 in block on that character soon after getting it but I found it to be the first item I thought was gamebreakingly strong.
My top 3 would be Spellbreaker, Wabbajack, Mehrunes' Razor.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
That all depends if we're talking about our uber-powerfull, maxed out demi-god characters, or something in the middle. Of course they are useless for the former, but I found many of them very useful mid-game. For example my lead character uses Sanguine Rose quite often, especially for fighting dragons, and she carries Mehrunes' Razor in her left hand when dual wielding. And my Nord werewolf is definitely going after the Ring of Hircine. If I ever get round to making that Orc Imperial Battlemage, she's definitely going to carry Spellbreaker, because it's dead useful, looks cool and fits nicely with the story I have planned for her.
And that last point is important too - while some of them may not be the strongest options available, they are great for roleplaying. For me it's more important that making sure I get the highest Armor Rating possible.
Oh, and I voted Sanguine Rose - that's the one I'm using the most and it's a fantastic tool for a non-fighter character who doesn't want to invest heavily in Conjuration.

I voted the Ebony mail, mostly because I don't use artifacts, but the Ebony mail always ends up on my companions due to the combination of muffle and the cloak on it

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
But the topic is usefulness, not personal taste. Roleplaying, by definition, is saying to hell with usefulness. So really this is just a contradiction, a paradox. A useful roleplay is an oxymoron.dzio wrote: And that last point is important too - while some of them may not be the strongest options available, they are great for roleplaying. Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
To be honest, the only use I get out of the Daedric artifacts are as trophies. They decorate my homes for me. None of my characters actually use them.
The only one that gets used at all is the Black Star. I never take Azura's Star.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
If something helps me with roleplaying, it's useful for roleplaying. Ta-daaaa!
Also, roleplay is enormously useful if you consider playing the game to be the point of the game, as opposed to winning the game...
Seriously though, it all depends what you mean by "useful". If you mean "I can use it to kill many things" then yes, you're right. If you mean "I can use it to do what I want" then I'd say it makes no difference whether your idea of great time is slaying dragons, while metal guitars wail in the backgroud, or pretending you're an absent-minded Breton scholar picking flowers along the road to Riften - the "useful" thing is something that helps you do that.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
spellbreaker is most useful for my character who uses a sword/shield combo when he fights dragons
azuras star is most useful for my soul trapping mage who uses staves
ebony mail is most useful for my dual wielding madman who charges crowds of enemies
the oghma infinium is most useful for my 80th level character who would like to get up to 81st as soon as possible
the answer to this question almost totally depends on one's perspective
for some reason i almost never use wabbajack but most of my characters carry it with them

Sanguine Rose,
But as someone who doesn't invest in Enchanting and Smithing, I'd say everything else has its uses, the only thing that doesn't really special is "The Rueful Axe", which is nowhere to be found in the poll.

Well, seeing as you are saying 'Most Useful'--
Ring of Namira, without it, how could a traditional Bosmer be roleplayed? Cannibalistic-pointy-ears!

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
The blackstar is probably the most useful. Spell breaker is good too if you don't use wards, I often use mehrunes razor as my offhand for duel wielding because it looks pretty cool and there's always the slight chance of an instant kill. Rose of sanguine was nice too until I was able to summon my own dremoras.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I probably used the Ring of Hircine most. Alarra enjoyed having wolfing sprees but sometimes one transformation wasn't enough. I used Azura's Star sometimes, but regular soulgems were plentiful enough that I didn't need it often. Oghma Infinium could be useful, but I didn't end up using it because I acquired it late and by that point decided to get my stats 100% legit through leveling; if anyone claimed mine were fake, I could point out that I didn't use the Oghma Infinium even once.
The rest ended up just being decorations in my house.

i did enjoy using Dawnbreaker when i did the Dawnguard questline. but i still had much better weapons than it, i was mostly using it for appearance and because it seemed like the right weapon to use.

I plumped for the Mace - it looks a little over elaborate as a piece of equipment but, for the right character, it can be a beast early on in the game and its dead easy to get!

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I still have to go with Azura/Black Star>_> yeah it's mainly convenience, but that alone has it's power. Being able to travel freely, soul trapping bandits, and using it for enchanting or even recharging on the spot. Most of the artifacts are paired with it for good reason<_< it insures you can keep them charged.
Yeah the Ogma is nice, but it really isn't that powerful in skyrim and is only a shortcut. As for the Key, it's mighty helpful till you get the perks.. but it's great at leveling lockpicking^_^ I would say if I could vote a 2nd time.. ebony blade sadly<_< if you boost it up just enough, the blade is just deadly and is hard to die so long as you hit a target. I can understand why it converted to 2handed..
Personally even though I'm OP and a high level, I still use the artifacts, like the Star, Ebony Blade, and even Dawnbreaker. They all have unique benefits that cover most special needs^_^
