Re: Dreams
^Well its common to have little memory of your dreams. It also depends on how many hours you sleep. If you want help dreaming, find methods to go into the deep sleep phase quicker, seeing as around that phase is when dreams form. As for the black and white, I can ask my phyc teacher. It's either nothing or has something to do with a certain lobe in the brain I think. Your brain has little need to recode your dreams into memory seeing as it would just take up space..

Re: Dreams
@deathm00n I read in a psychology today mag or a book that you can induce dreams by introducing external elements to the sleeper. Like dripping water on them would cause the subject to remember dreams with oceans and rivers. But it's probably not wise to assume other stimulants'll work to create different types (I'll let you think of the possibilities). So if you can ask someone to stimulate you when you're in a deep sleep stage (I think there are 3 stages that the brain shifts through periodically and only one stage will be receptive to external stimulant). Also maybe try keeping something to write on and a pen(cil) so you can immediately record any fleeting thoughts and images upon waking?

Re: Dreams
Not remembering your dreams is perfectly normal. As long as you're waking up feeling rested, you will have actually dreamed, in some capacity, whether you remember it or not. I suppose if you really like thinking about your dreams, it could be mildly annoying not to remember them, but other than that, I see no problem; I rarely, if ever, remember dreams.

Re: Dreams
I finally had a somewhat notable dream.
Oh, it was just more of the usual weirdness.
Started off on the other end of town. I don't recall what I was doing there, but apparently a Dragon attacked. Randomly. Me being me, I moved closer to see what type it was. It was a Frost Dragon, and I had apparently moved a bit too close because I got clipped by a blast of frost that nearly froze me. I spun around on my bike and got the hell out of there. People were screaming to hide, and I would've gone home... Except my home apparently didn't exist in this place.
I rode a few blocks as fast as I could until I came upon this really innocent looking store. Went inside and it transformed into an old school bar/restaurant. I summoned the ghostly barkeep (I cannot remember what his name was, but I do know calling his name is how he was summoned) and asked for a drink. He sorta smirked and gave me a glass of this blue liquid (why did it look strangely like Romulan Ale?). I sat with a small and ragged group of survivors and we discussed what had happened while a Doctor (I have no idea where he came from) treated our frostbite. All we established is that we had no way of fighting these Dragons and our best hope of survival was to just not leave the building. Which was fine by us, since the ghostly barkeep (whom I was apparently good friends with) could instantly summon whatever food or drink we asked for. He was also a very good chef.
Everything suddenly went dark on us. And by "dark," I mean pitch black. Couldn't see my hand in front of my place.
I told the others that one of those Dragons might have knocked down the power poles and cut off our power supply. We had no choice but to flee to another, similar location. So we hopped in a bus and traveled across town.
The whole place was frozen in some places, and burning in others. We could only stare at the ruins as we drove by.
Eventually, we arrived at this place. It too went pitch black not long after we went inside, but apparently this time it was just me. I sensed the presence of my ghostly friend... Except he was draining my strength. Apparently he really wasn't too happy about us just getting up and leaving like that. I told him we didn't have a choice, but he didn't quite buy it. So then I told him that we would never go anywhere else, as he was the best damn ghost in existence. Then he released me and all the lights came back to me. The others looked a little surprised, but the ghost had us all settled in soon enough.
He then directed us to a series of cupboards that each held a book. The ghost advised us to read the books, and we did... Which pulled us through a portal of some sort (it was like reading a Black Book, just without the tentacles) and into a hotel room that must have occupied another dimension. There was three of us in each room.
Anyway, the dream ended with me looking out a large window and talking to my ghost friend. The only actual dialogue I recall from this dream was the bit at the end: I watched several Dragons flying over the ruined town and said to my ghost friend, "This is going to be war. No doubt about that. Who the victors shall be depends on the strength of our people, the courage in their hearts, and whether or not we can find the weakness of these damned beasts... I just worry that this is the end."
I kinda wish that had continued. If I was right and it was a war, I would have loved to see how that turns out. Just hopefully without my ghost friend getting destroyed. That guy was awesome.

Re: Dreams
And last night I was at the same shed, and I was petting the kittens which were now full grown cats. When I petted the cats their fur came off, so before long I had a bunch of naked cats running around, all but one, one cat which I recognized as one of the several that were outside my house before we had them taken away and this one in particular was just the nicest and cutest little kitten ever, and kept his fur no matter how much I petted him. There was another kitten that I payed special attention to that's fur was white, but the skin underneath was black and felt leathery. There is some symbolism in all of this...A few months ago ZeRoc wrote:Double post, but whatever.
So yesterday when I took my daily nap, I had a dream where I saw a bunch of rather large, pregnant cats walking around the foundation to a building. It was basically just a concrete floor with nothing there on top. The imagery was entertaining and I didn't think much of it, until the dream I just had. I dreamt that the cats had given birth, a bunch of little kittens running around the same concrete, which now had been built on and is a garage or shed or something.
It's not very often that I have continuing dreams, so I'm thinking this means something.

Re: Dreams
Cue the weird, drug or illness induced dreams:
I only really remember the end. For the rest of it, I had apparently taken on the persona of a character I had written a long time ago (the one in my avatar, strangely enough). Not just her persona... I had all her powers. I spent most of the dream messing around with them.
When it came to the end, everything was dark. Probably because it was night. I was bored and wandering around when I was attacked by a male Vampire (who was kinda hot for some reason). I fought him, but he overpowered me and fed. I remained conscious through the whole ordeal. Sort of. My vision was fading when he finished. I looked up and suddenly made eye contact with the one and only... Vulom Staadnau. The last thing I can remember his her smiling at me and I thought, "Holy [&@%!]. I'm so dead."
That moment where you're afraid of your own character...
Yeah.

Re: Dreams
My latest dream was in this 19th Century steampunk world of airships being held aloft by a combination of helicoptor rotors and hydrogen gasbags.
I was aboard this airship with a young, brilliant inventor as my companion. We were prisoners, and this ship was in the control of air pirates. They were forcing us at gunpoint to assemble a new-fangled aerial weapon: an attack helicoptor. There was a train of unused Conestoga-style wagons in the cargo hold, and I was busy salvaging and assembling fuselages from these while the inventor fellow worked on making engines and weapons.
While we were building two of these machines, there was this old Native American woman watching us the whole time. I don't know if she was a prisoner or just a trusted servant among the pirates, but she was was laying a serious guilt-trip on my inventor friend while he was putting together the rocket-launcher pods. Her words had a real effect on him, too: he was in tears, overcome with the shame of what he was doing. He pulled me aside and made a plan: I would fly one of the helicopters, and he would take the other. Once we were in the air, we would crash both helicopters to ensure the pirates couldn't use them in their attack on the city. There was only one parachute, so I would take it and bail out before destroying my helicopter. He— wouldn't be able to jump to safety.
I came up with a better plan: he would take his helicopter and fly ahead to the city to warn everyone of the air pirate attack, while I would take my helicopter and attack the airships— to give goods guys a fighting chance by softening up the pirate fleet. My friend agreed, reluctantly.
We were in the air, but not before the inventor produced another parachute for himself, or so he hoped to make me think so. I knew the backpack he was wearing was full of useless rags— he just wanted me to feel secure enough to leave him alone while he sacrificed himself for the greater good. I turned the tables on him by declaring that I was still going to fight the pirates to the death— either he can be a man about it or take the cowards' way out by suicide.
I turned my helicopter around and went head-to-head with the squadron of pirate airships. Sad to say, their cannons were doing a real number on my machine. As I struggled to get close enough to launch my rockets, a direct hit by a pirate cannon shot the right-hand rocket pod clean off my helicopter. As I watched the burning pod tumble away, the rockets inside began to fire off as the flames reached the motors. Most exploded uselessly in the air, but one rocket reached out and struck an airship square in the gasbag. It lit up like kindling.
I flew my helicopter closer to a pirate ship and fired the rockets in my left-hand launcher. Down goes another ship. Taking my now-burning and half-shattered machine into a climb, I arced up and then dove at the pirate flagship, hoping that my last rocket shot through the helicopter blades would bring it down. The rocket flew out and splashed against a rotor, then I took a hard hit and my helicopter crashed onto the deck of the flagship.
I wasn't a prisoner for very long, as the damaged rotor finally broke apart and set off a chain reaction as the other rotors broke under the imbalance. My inventor friend flew in to the rescue: I was climbing up the rope when the phone rang and woke me up.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

You know I'm hyped as sh!t for Metal Gear Solid V, I had a dream I got a demo of the game, got sucked into the demo, Big Boss was running New York, and he was burning the city to the ground to find me! I was being chased by Zombies! I shot people in the desert!

The other day I had this dream about a horse with white and gray appaloosa coloring and pale-blue, nearly white eyes trying to trample me to death, and then attempting to eat me.
Last night, I had a dream that Simon Pegg (who was apparently doubling as a dog trainer for the Beggin' Strips dog) and I killed someone, and a few other extremely stressful things happened to us inside this super fancy hotel.
It all ended with me trying to save the Beggin's Strips dog from drowning in the hotel pool.
Don't even ask.

I dreamed I got into the Elder Scrolls Online beta. But then I realized that I was dreaming, because the email didn't say anything about a certain time, whereas in real life it says that beta sessions will be during specific time periods.

Re: Dreams
Guess I'll revive the thread...
Last night I had a dream that I was going to a kindergarten, except I was the 18 year old I am now, and all my friends were there. It looked just like a room in my highschool, but I couldn't fight the impression that it was a kindergarten. Then a girl from my theater class appeared (the same one I mentioned in my "What happened to you today" entry) and asked me, "what are you doing here, didn't you graduate?" Oddly though, my response wasn't the "yeah I graduated, I just wanted to come see all my old friends," but instead I said "I'll explain later." I then got the impression that I hadn't finished High School, not yet anyway. The dream got weird from there, I can't remember what all happened, but it concluded with the song "High School Never Ends" by Bowling for Soup playing... I wonder if my subconscious is trying to tell me something...
The next dream I had was a lot shorter, but a lot more confusing for me to reason out. I was at the College I'll be going to, and the above mentioned girl appeared, we shared a hug, then another, then another, then another, concluding with an almost kiss, but we both drew away and said bye. The strangest part of the exchange was that when I hugged her I got more of the impression that I was hugging a baby, like my 3 month old nephew. It was just the most bizarre thing. Especially that she should appear in both of my dreams that night, and then talk to me the next day, especially when there has been no real romantic anything going on between us.
Not near as weird as some of my past dreams which I'll leave to Br3ad or Derp to bring up, but they certainly had me confused through all of today.

I once had a dream in Sovengarde. But it wasn't the Sovengarde we know, it was an awkward Sovengarde. The dream started in a Minecraft like world, filled with floating houses. Then I started to fly, I then saw the Hall of Valor. But I flew there from behind in the mist. Tsun wasn't guarding the bridge, so I walked closer. I don't remember what was in the Hall of Valor.
The strange thing was I had this dream the night before I went to Sovengarde to kill Alduin. I never saw it before, except from videos and pictures. Now when I read a dream of Sovengarde, I get creeped out.

Re: Dreams
Apparently I had a dream I was a Dragon last night. I couldn't see myself, but judging from the feel of the wings, I was a Night Fury.
Also, the attacking screech kinda gave it away. I guess the dream was a sort of Star Trek (Voyager) and How to Train Your Dragon crossover.
I can only really remember one part. Neelix had been captured and I was sent out to find him. I was flying through the alien city and searching for him for a while. Dragon-Me was forced to attack a few times, since the aliens saw me as an intruder. I eventually heard the sounds of moaning, so I flew into an old rotting building and landed. There was a bunch of injured people/aliens in here. I searched through them for a while until I came upon Neelix. As was my mission, I grabbed him and got the hell out of there, taking him to the ship (Sickbay, to be precise).
I recall other parts of dreams, but I don't know if they were part of the same one or not. I had this issue staying asleep last night.

Re: Dreams
I had a nightmare-ish sort of dream this morning. first thing like that I've had in years, I'd hope you read this one as I found it was quite interesting:
It started off with a young me, maybe 5 or 6, walking out onto our house's roof. In the dream, I seemed to recall my mother telling me about some strange books in a storage room on the roof. She had said that they were the stories of violent criminals, but they were written in books that looked and read like children's books. She told me she had read them and they had scared her, and I responded that I would read them and see if they were truly as scary as she said.
So I headed up to the roof. at this point, I remember my vision being coloured in a sort of brown-ish white colour, similar to old film reels. I approached the ''storage room'' on the roof, which appeared to be some kind of wooden shack. I entered the room, and looked around, eventually spotting a small bookcase filled with old rotten books sitting in a corner with a shabby wooden wall next to it. I suddenly remembered someone had told me ''check the bottom shelf'', I walked over to the bookcase, and spotted 4 books that looked like children's books on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. I remember that here I had tried to look directly at the books but somehow I couldn't make myself. I reached over, and picked a book off the bottom and looked at the cover. it appeared to show a dark black cartoonish picture of an angry moustached man wearing glasses with dark eyes. at this point I turned around and opened up the book.
Now instead of actually reading the book, I looked up at a medium sized mirror sitting across from me. At first, the picture on the cover of the book appeared, and then it seemed to play out a story. I can't actually remember the specifics of what appeared on the mirror at this time, but I do remember that I managed to gather that this told the story of a man who worked as a teacher in an elementary school, and murdered all of his students and chopped off their fingers.
Afterwards, I closed the book and put it aside. I turned around to the Bookcase once again, and chose another book out. I looked at the cover, and it seemed to show a silhouette of the side a face, perhaps a woman's, against a blank white backround. I opened the first page of the book but couldn't see anything, suddenly there was a flash of light, like lightning in a storm, and the flash showed the words on the first page of the book, which simply said: The Rapist. I looked up again at the mirror, and saw the cover of this book in it, before I quickly spun around towards the bookcase to spot the suited leg of someone standing directly behind me. and just like that, I woke up...
What do you folks make of that?

Re: Dreams
I had a nightmare that my computer stopped working because something I downloaded gave it a horrible virus of some sort. It was terrible. Then I woke up and thought "Did I seriously just have a nightmare about my computer?" And then I remembered that that wasn't the first time I've had a nightmare about my computer.

Re: Dreams
Last night I was dreaming that I was in school (for whatever reason). I was in an English class with my old [&@%!] of an English teacher. Can't remember the specifics now, but I was told that I shouldn't be in that class because I was apparently too smart for that one. I was sent away to another class, and on my way there, I realized that, hey, I graduated over a year ago. I technically shouldn't be in any school at all.
And so I thought "Yeah. I'm definitely dreaming. Well, I guess I've just got to fly out of here." I opened the nearest window, flapped my arms, and flew out of there. I remember the students going WTF as I flew away.
Later on, I decided that I would try shape shifting. I've dreamed from the perspective of a Dragon before, so changing my shape didn't seem like too difficult of a task. I focused and succeeded in turning myself into a bird. Just kept flying around after that.
Ah, lucid dreaming. It's been a while since I've done that. Although now that I think about it, I should have turned it into a Skyrim related dream. I've done it before. I could have used that to brainstorm ideas for stories. Hell, if I really wanted to, I could view one of Vulom's tales...
Or maybe not. That would go past the point of an ordinary dream and right to a nightmare. I may have seen her in a dream only once (I'm still surprised at the fact that she looked exactly like she did in-game), but it's something that's probably best not repeated.

Re: Dreams
Last night, I dreamed that I was outside a fixed Kvatch. Then I saw an Imp. I remember thinking "There can't be Imps in Skyrim!". So I attacked it. But when I attacked him, I was punching him like Minecraft. He died, but his Imp Gall shoots out, and his body disappears, much like Minecraft. I can't pick it up. I have no "E" key to put it in my inventory. And when I grab it, it hops away, like a soap bar in a shower. Then I notice that it looks like a flesh colored caterpillar with short hairs. It had no legs, so it hopped. I remember being afraid (lolwut) so I ran to Kvatch. It chased me, and in front of the door, some guys were going in. They opened the door (or did I open the door) and I saw a Kvatch guard or something. Then my dream ended.
Edit: I know why I had that dream. Forgot I was watching Garry's Mod Team Fortress 2 videos on youtube before I went to bed...
Edit: 9/23/13 (Put it in this post because I don't want to double post.)
I had two dreams last night (maybe one, don't know). In the first dream, I was in a marsh like place (Blackmarsh?) and I was looking for some weapon. But then I fell into a pond, and I was attacked by mudcrabs. I remember running up a slope onto a dirt path, which led me to a tank. The tank turned into a spaceship, which I remember running from; Then I either woke up, or I switched dreams, because next begins my second dream.
In between the dreams, I remember walking through a forest (not like the marsh's forest). This forest was very tight, and it looked like the Great Forest, or the Forbidden Forest (from Harry Potter) somewhat.
I Was building a spaceship Minecraft style outside the Imperial City. I went into the Imperial City's walls, and a guard stopped me. He then proceeded to nuke Skingrad. With a nuclear missile. When it hit Skingrad, it made a massive crater (which looked like the old Sim City 4 craters), which just reached the Imperial City's walls. Then he launched two nuclear bombs. They bounced off the plains in the Nibenay basin, and didn't explode.

Had a dream I got an autograph from Tom Brady and the Angry Video Game Nerd. No idea why I had those thoughts in my head....
