Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Would have to say Azura's Star/Black Star. Having a free, re usable grand soul gem early game is a great way to level up and make money, and at later levels it is still usefull.

I'd say either Spellbreaker or Mehrune's Razor. A very strong(and unique) shield and a dagger with instant-kill possibilities. Works wonders combined.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Mehrunes' Razor has always been the most useful for me when legitimately playing the game. Any other useful artifacts, like the Wabbajack, I always used to mess around in the game.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
One thing I'd like to point out is that for the type of character who's totally overpowered (Like making full use of crafting synergy), the artifacts that are "weak" are worth using again, in a way. When you've got an extra +100 damage from tempering your weapon, the 10 or so less damage it'd have is really a drop in the bucket by that point. I often run around with daedric artifacts simply because they look better than other things I could be using. And really, isn't playing dress up what Skyrim's really about?

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Judging from how often I actually use it, I'd say Hircine's Ring (I have three Werewolf characters ATM who use it an awful lot), closely followed by Azura's Star (which I use across all my chars - sometimes the Black one, sometimes the Pure), and, um, actually Sanguine's Rose, which can be very helpful for chars who won't put a lot of perks into conjuration. Volendrung and Spellbreaker are pretty powerful too. Several of the others are more cool than actually useful (looking at you, Skull of Corruption, and you, Ebony Blade) or don't fit my mostly light armour using characters (Ebony Mail), or are actually very useful but too hideous to be worn (Mask of Clavicus). Oghma Infinium is a nice gadget but something I can easily do without.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I chose Sanguine Rose because I tend to get it early, and having a free dremora for big battles is really useful at low levels. One time I accidentally hit it, though. That ended poorly. "There can be no other end!"

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Oghma Infinium for it's glitch ((yes I admit I use it))
Everything else I can either make better enchantments of or I get the same effect with perks. The exceptions being Azura's star ((which I prefer black soul gems)) or Namira's wring ((I can technically get the same effect as a werewolf))

I am surprised that a lot of players picked ebony mail! I never got the heavy armor and muffle combination. I generally get light armor for sneak characters and if I have heavy armor i never really sneak.
I like sanguine rose too. Quite a useful tool as I have no skill in conjuration

Azura's star, It prevents you from having to carry around a dozen soul gems (I like a very clean, uncluttered inventory)
The rest ends up in my Lakeview Manor museum.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Well, ever since Update 1.9, Ohgma Infinium is far less useful because you can't use the glitch anymore. I am not saying it's not a useful artifact, but it's a one shot deal.
I personally always get the Black Star for every character. I also wind up with Sanguine Rose with all of them as well. In my opinion, the Sanguine Rose is the best one of them all because of the fact that every character can make use of it (unless for RP reasons). While characters with a high Conjuration and perks can get more mileage out of it, every character can still benefit from having a summoned daedra helping in battle. All others in my humble opinion are slightly (or more) more situational.

Spell breaker is very good actually. I love to use it against mages. Free ward is greatly useful against fast moving mages. And its heavy armor and looks awesome!

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
It strongly depends on what character r u playing. I voted for ebony mail cuz I was an assassin. Most of artifacts are pretty weak compared to what we can make.
Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
The muffle isn't the point imo, it's the "cloak" effect it has around hostile targets.copykakashi wrote:I am surprised that a lot of players picked ebony mail! It's also great for killing slaughterfish that sneak up on you when diving for pearls.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
The Ohgma Infinium was only ever useful due to a glitch. I don't see the use in it at all since you can level all skills anyway, if your skills are already at 100 it would have no use and once its been used its gone. If your gonna count it as useful for the glitch it had then surely all the negatives about the weapons are removed by the fortify restoration glitch where anything can do 1000+ damage.dragonfett wrote:Well, ever since Update 1.9, Ohgma Infinium is far less useful because you can't use the glitch anymore. Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
I do find it ironic that the most useful doesn't directly mean strongest>_> just about everyone would carry Azura's Star or the Skeleton Key if given the chance. It's namely because they can be universally helpful to all types of players. As opposed to some that result as decorations<_<
That said, smarter players can find ways to make the most of even the simplest of artifacts>_>

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Azura's Star/Black Star. Easily the most useful, especially with the Black Star at low levels. It gives you easy access to grand souls without needing to fight a mammoth or something. Other than the Star ive never used any artifacts other than the Razor on my assassin.

I thought Staff of Corruption only did 20-50 damage, is it that useful?Cosser wrote:imo Staff of Corruption very useful one of the best DPS staff in the game
I think it's more of a wall-decoration rather than a good weapon. Actually even then it's the only weapon in my house that falls of it's rack, good for nothing stick...

Maybe I'm as crazy as its creator but I honestly find the Wabbajack very helpful - the chance of a near-instant kill can make otherwise impossible battles winnable, and unlike the Razor you can use it from a distance. Mind you, this is with a sneak-based character who can't take hits well - with my warrior character I got a tremendous amount of goodness out of the Sanguine Rose.

Re: Most useful Daedric Item Poll
Molag Bal's Mace is incredibly useful against bosses, both mages, and warriors. You can effectively bash the stamina out of the warriors (no more power attacks) and bash the magic out of the mages (no more spells), then use the soul trap to fill up any black soul gems you have and recharge. The damage is also phenomenal, considering there's no limit as to the level at which you receive it. Its basically a supercharged ebony mace, that you can have at level 2 if you want...
