Yeah bro. That's the most poorly-made "meme" I've ever seen. When did the definition of "meme" change?

As for XbOne or PS4, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm living in a Microsoft-only household, though, so I imagine my dad is going to pick up the former for himself. Honestly I'm not sure why everyone has their panties in a wad over how terrible it is. I haven't seen a ton to [&@%!] and moan about.

Meh to both if them. I'm not buying either one at launch. Not until I see the games they'll have. MS seems to have the biggest exclusives as well as the greatest number of them. Guess we'll see.

So here's a question. From my perspective, most of the people I've seen saying they would get a PS4 over the Xbox One chose Sony because they didn't like the features Microsoft was offering. Rather than picking out the highlights of the PS4 as a console, they were going to avoid certain aspects of the Xbox One. Now that Microsoft has altered some of the those features, I'm wondering what the reasons are for getting a PS4 over an Xbox One. Those of you still leaning towards Sony; is it the price difference? The exclusives? The network? As I said, previously, a large percentage of the support I saw for PS4 was in the form of "it's not the Xbox One." Has this now changed?

Also, I am aware that that is a generalization, but it is a fair one based on the internet's comments as a whole. Don't think I'm singling any one person out.

I'll probably get both eventually but certainly like the PS4 better as of now. First for foremost, money is a huge factor in my decision, everything else is just nitpicking. For example, Even tho both consoles have 8-core processors, the processing power of the PS4 is supposed to be slightly better, and better is better. Other than that, I'm hoping all my PS3 trophies and my PSN account will transfer over, even though my past purchases clearly won't, because I have a ton of man-hours put into that thing as opposed to my Xbox360 that rarely gets played.

A couple of other features I didn't take a shine to on the X1 but you didn't mention is the TV stuff, anything that has to do with sports, and the integration with their other Microsoft products. I'm not trying to say that these things aren't neat or innovative (or a good way to get you to buy more of their stuff), it's just not geared towards me.

Also, I wasn't so upset about the DRM. Sure it was new, scary, and could of ended up a huge flop, but it also could of been revolutionary and helped save this downward spiral that our gaming industry is going thru if they stuck to their guns and made it worked, but whatevs.

.... and Xbox One is a really stupid name.

So cost and slightly better specs. Nothing else draws you to the PS4? I saw you added on a couple things against the Xbox One, but that's not what was asked.

Is there really nothing that compels you to purchase the PS4 other than "it's not the Xbox One"?

this is what a lot of people are asking

for me the xbone might edge it if xbl is a superior service compared with the psn+

most people i know with both machines current gen, use ps for single player games and the 360 for mp.. i wonder if this will be the case next gen..

i don't like the imposition of a lot of microsoft's new features , but that might change when the systems are there in use.. a lot of these misgivings are storms in tea cups imo cos the new and strange is scary

-The PS4 is significantly more powerful than the Xbox One.
-More exclusives on the PS4.
-The Xbox 360 was very poorly built. Fool me once.
-PSN+ is supposedly not as expensive as Xbox Live.
-The PS4 is €100 cheaper than the Xbox One.

I'm getting the PS4 because it is better than the Xbox One in every way possible from a gaming point of view. It costs less, and does what it's supposed to do better.

Musicman247 basically wrote:...the only thing that draws you to the PS4 is the fact that it costs less than the Xbox One and outperforms the Xbox One?
Precisely.

PSN went down for a whole month. I would say Live is better.

The PS3 was "significantly more powerful" than the 360. Fool me once.

Better exclusives on X1 (I'll admit this is highly subjective).

I think PS+ will just be £40 a year. Not 100% sure. I do know it's currently £40 a year and i'm guessing it's $60 a year.

Just because it has better specs doesn't mean it is the best. It comes down to the developers being able to use the technologly but Sony have corrected it so we should see equal versions of multiplatform games instead of a repeat of this generation where the PS3 often got the worst ports. Fallout 3 is just almost unplayable on the PS3.

Anyway, I'll probably get a PS4 if Sony continue to keep doing what they are currently doing. But I am going to use a gaming PC next generation as it's just cheaper to get new releases and well, mods. But it will be interesting to see how the X1 and PS4 will turn out to be as the X1 stands a decent chance due to the removal of DRM. Still should remove the Kinect and sell that as an optional device as not everyone wants Kinect. Plus it would lower the price and would be interesting to see which console sells if they are at the same price point. I'll wait a few years before deciding which one to get if i've not already decided to get a decent gaming PC. that and well, i should have a job by then thus have enough cash to spare.

The PS4 and Xbox One have very similar architectures. Multiplatform games will run better on the PS4.

This is a valid point, but not nearly enough to overshadow the obvious advantages the PS4 has over the Xbox One. The other two points are moot.

It was, actually. It was just a [&@%!] to develop for, an issue that the PS4 allegedly fixes.

Playing online games on PSN isn't bad, I don't see why people seem to make it that is massively inferior. The majority of games will probably be multi-platform releases that are the same on both consoles. Not that it's a bad thing, I'm not fond of console exclusives.

Not sure if its been posted or not but I dropped by Gamestop the other day and they did say Microsoft had changed alot of its issues.

Either way Im still leaning towards the PS4 but for HALO Im going for Xboxone.

My brothers getting the PS4 so no need to have two of the same console.

I still haven't seen any compelling reasons to buy a PS4. Does it seriously come down to $100?

If someone asked me why I was going to buy an X1 instead of a PS4 I would say something like this:
  • Project Spark looks amazing and unlike anything I have ever seen
  • Quantum Break seems like a genre-bending suspense game that I definitely want to play
  • Halo. Sorry, I love me some Halo
  • Having the Kinect come with every box will allow developers to do some pretty cool stuff in the future, since they know it will be there
  • Sunset Overdrive looks like a LOT of fun. The new L4D
  • The hope of a future of a pure digital, online console

Points 1, 2, 3 and 5 on your list are completely subjective and the other two are very undesirable to many people, myself included.

And you've had the opinion that costing $100 less makes it a preferable buy.

To be fair<_< sony is gathering new exclusives and smashing hits, while Microsoft is dependent on the same ole series and publishers.. not to say neither would have surprises nor new pawns.
As with power, we don't know just how improved the engines will be compared to the other... but so far judgement places PS4 as the superior but no fact that I know of

"Cost and slightly better specs"!?! Is that it Oogy!?! Whats wrong with paying more money for something with less to offer in return!?
C'mon Musicman, what do you want? They're both competitive, state-of-the-art machines and the only thing that separates them are those minute specs and a few game preferences. The reason why I didn't list things against the PS4 is because what was asked of me was why the PS4 over the X1, in light of X1 altering their features, and in short, I liked the X1 better before the features were altered but PS4 was ahead to begin with.

To be fair to the X1 I could go on to say that the new PS4's features don't exactly have me jumping for joy either; The first Facebook friend to starts posting gameplays on my wall will receive no mercy. And of course I'm not thrilled about being forced to pay for PSN+ but what's the alternative, pay someone else? Nor do I own a Vita, so whatever feature they're making for that doesn't apply to me either, and any other feature that sets it apart from the X1 is new to the world and we'll just have to wait to see how terrible it actually is before I start complaining about it officially.
