Mysteries can't be funny, chum. If they could, men would watch soaps.

Which also brings up the question: Why doesn't your follower do something to prevent this from happening? Instead they just wait outside the shack for you to come out.

I always wondered what those bugs in a jar are for? Oh and Lydia can't even stop an assassin from dragging my body across the map, she's as useless as a fith wheel on a wagon

In my experience the bugs in jars are for you to put up on a shelf in your alchemy lab, think about how cool that looks, and then spend five frustrating minutes putting them back in place every time you return home and find them under the table. It looks like the housecarls throw wild parties every time you leave and they're just as rubbish at cleaning up, as they are at being useful followers.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
I know. You can tell Brand-Shei you'll find something and you do, but with Rune you tell him you'll keep an eye out, and then there's never anything to be found. No quest starts, and I've never heard of anybody finding anything relating to Rune. I've not heard of there being any unused files in the game, either. Somebody made a mod to finish up the Missing Apprentices quest, but I've never seen the same for Rune.Sam wrote:There actually is something to be found for Brand-Shei.mewmew34 wrote:This so bad. I wonder if he's just an homage to Lone Star from Spaceballs. Necklace with writing that nobody knows. That's really the only one I'm concerned about, as anything else that could use more background could always come up in a later game. But Rune won't be important to the next game if it takes place more than a decade or two before or after Skyrim.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
I actually added this into a roleplay I was running. My goody-two-shoes was on Solstheim, and was kidnapped. As I was planning for this character to become a werewolf via the old Tales of Lycanthropy mod, when I went on the 'Destroy the Brotherhood' quest I got impatient and turned her into a werewolf then and there using the settings. I'd pretended that it was Astrid and Arnbjorn who pounced on me while I was asleep, drugged me, and took nearly three days to transport me from there to the abadoned shack, so when I changed due to the full moon in the Dark Brotherhood hideout I pretended it was because in her initial struggle on Solstheim, Arnbjorn bit her by accident.Zephyr wrote:After killing Grelod, how are youSpoiler:

While it would be great to find something out about Rune, I thnk it makes some sense that not all the problems of Skyrim can be solved by the Dragonborn. Does every thing that concerns people need to be solved by our Dragonborn?

Since the first sidequest the dragonborn does is fixing a relationship problem between 3 people he doesn't even know.... I think the answer to your question, Mr.Argonian, would be yes

Why don't npcs harvest their crops? I mean is their sole porpoise in skyrim is to grow crops for me..? I know they get hungry, yet every time I pass a farm it's never empty..

So I went up the Throat of the World and right there, in the middle of that freaky cloud you need to shout apart, on the narrow, icy path guarded by ice wraiths and frost trolls, was a goat. A goat. I don't even...

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The other one must have been eaten by a troll and fallen off the mountain or something, I only saw one. Still - this is ridiculous. There should be areas in the game that the animals avoid like they avoid predators or the PC. The magic goats are just stupid, just like a deer running away from me and straight towards a city and/or a large group of other people.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The first is always there - after the gate, along in the lead up to the bridge where you have to use Clear Skies, then there's another a bit further up, near a levelled Ice Wraith/Frost troll.
The deer running isn't as stupid as it sounds - for example, sheep have learnt that in a situation where it's them facing being run over by a car, it's actually best to try to outrun it, and jump to safety later, as people slow down not wanting to hit the sheep, and have stopped by the time the sheep jumps to safety.
It might be the deer have learnt hunters don't shoot at other people...

What's wrong with the goats? There are other ways up that mountain that they could take that's impossible for humans.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Okay, so technically they can get up there. But for what possible reason would they? Do they want to eat the snow? Play catch with the trolls? Raise little goats in the magic mist? Have a philosophical debate with Paarthunax?
So yes, that's actually a very good question - what's wrong with the goats? Because something obviously is.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The same question could be asked of real-life mountain goats. They are often at very high altitudes where nothing grows. Why? Because it is much safer for them.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Real-life mountains don't have freaky mists or frost trolls though? Not to mention dragons? That's not a safer place.
And I think we need to finish this fascinating goat discussion now and look for some other mysterious stuff.

Why was Niruin's family running a winery in Valenwood? Last I heard, grapes are plant matter.
Although on this one I'm going to guess that the writers forgot lore for a minute and I'll just pretend it was "artisanal rotmeth" instead and move on.

Or, much more likely, Vallenwood was an Imperial province and only Morrowind could really keep their culturw.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The big mystery for me at the moment is what Elder Scrolls language is this, and what does the writing on the Eye of Magnus, the Black Books and the Diiv Word Wall say? This is a language that hasn't appeared in any previous Elder Scrolls game, as far as I know.
