2015 seems like a good release date. Remember, they most likely started working on the game after they were done with vanilla Skyrim.

The option to sleep anywhere on the ground while risking the possiblity of an attack, now where have I seen this?
Oh yeah! Daggerfall! It was an interesting concept back then and it could be implemented into FO quite well.

On a side note, the DLCs for FONV are not that great in my opinion. Honest Hearts is too short. Old Wold Blues has awful jokes that nearly made me shut the game off for good. Dead Money is turning out to be more annoying than challanging and God will not shut up about Dog eating his collar. Lonesome Road was just that, a road with nothing interesting to note until the end.

i agree with you on most DLCs except Dead Money (Honest Hearts was the best in my opinion, but still should have been longer) i enjoyed Dead Money, it delivered what it promised, so i was happy.

ah how i hated those jokes in OWB.

i much preffered Mothership Zeta of Fallout 3. ''I Ain't no goddamn Space Monkey!'' .. haha, that had me burst out laughing.
then again, i usually disagree with folks on humour.

Most if not all of the DLC for Fallout 3 were a bit average. Mothership Zeta was a joke and didn't fit the Fallout universe. True, Aliens has featured in the games before but as easter eggs or recurring gags. The Pitt was decent but had no real resolution but that is mainly a flaw of the entire game due to every choice you make having no resolution in the ending slides. OA seemed to be Bethesda's attempt at having a war game and Broken Steel introduced a massive plot hole. If the enclave already had access to it, then why not, i don't know, blow up the freaking citadel thus wiping out or severly crippling the BOS. I find it hard to believe they were unable to before the events of BS as they had plenty of time. Point Lookout was decent apart from the enemies being hard to kill and there not being a reason for that.

Now, Fallout:NV's DLCs were a lot better but some were a bit rubbish as well. Dead Money was decent but felt like a chore in some places and restricted you way too much. Honest Hearts, The area was excellent but i got bored of it after a few quests but that was down to me having played the game for a while. Should attempt it again at some point. Old World Blues was excellent and had that typical Fallout humour. It wasn't funny but it was very lighthearted and cheesy in some places. Lonesome Road was excellent and brutal in some places. If you didn't start that DLC at a high level or have decent equipment, you were very likely to die a lot. Mainly due to the deathclaws.

really? i thought the DLCs for Fallout 3 were good. Broken Steel was a bit strange with the whole Orbital strike business and wierd Main Quests, but the enemies it added into the game were great ! (super mutant overlords, feral ghoul reavers, albino radscorpions) and really made the game difficult again.

The Pitt was just all round good, added great equipment, and told a good story with a great choice (clueless slaves, or intelligent slavers?). only problem was the small explorable area

Operation Anchorage was more of an equipment pack, it added good equipment and a few short but fun quests.the fact that your second in command cant die makes it a bit too easy, even though it was already quite easy. :|

Point Lookout was better than any FO:NV or Fallout 3 DLCs, with quite a large piece of land filled with interesting places, useful equipment, and interesting characters. as well as the hilarious main quest (that Desmond is one of the best FO3 characters!)

Mothership Zeta is highly underrated in my opinion. the questline is reasonably long but not too long. the aliens are about as unrealistic as the other games, and even if they arent supposed to exist if all else fails bethesda can claim it wasnt canon. in the end, i just loved it, it was full of really funny dialogue and tough enemies. sure it was over-the-top and ridiculous, but it was fun !

all in all, i enjoyed Fallout 3s DLCs much more than New Vegas DLCs.

I loved all the New Vegas DLC. But to put them in order of preference: 1: Old World Blues. 2: Dead Money. 3: Lonesome Road. 4: Honest Hearts. You know a thing about Lonesome Road I liked was how it commented on the nature of video games. Why did you go? The place is a hell hole. You didn't have to, you were fully able to turn back and go home at any time. Yet on you walked. The stories of New Vegas and all the DLC for them had a deeper meaning and it was something I enjoyed.

As for Fallout 3:

Operation Anchorage = Cool gear, [&@%!] story and quest. But the gear is very good so I'll slog through it for that.

The Pitt = Yeah, its good. I like the story and the quests. Gear's not bad either.

Broken Steel= I won't lie, back when it came out I was excited about getting new levels and playing an epilogue. But it's just kind of meh. I mean the main quest to Fallout 3 was already kind of bad, this doesn't really fix that, it just makes it longer and throws in some new plot holes. While the thought of getting to level 30 is exciting the whole thing made the game kind of unbalanced.

Point Lookout = Awesome. I loved it. Excellent DLC, best of the lot for Fallout 3.

Mothership Zeta = I don't want to accept it as canon. First off the story and questline are [&@%!]. I hate that annoying little girl who tells me what to do. No children in Fallout or The Elder Scrolls are Clementine from The Walking Dead I'll put it that way. Aliens that visit earth in the Fallout Universe, I think it was a questionable move. I don't think you should place a plot around it and should probably just leave it as an Easter egg. If you want to place a plot around any Easter Egg use the Tardis. But maybe the idea could have been done well, with enough work you could make a good story out of basically any concept. But it wasn't done well. The worst thing by far is how it suggests that Aliens started the war.
(Alien babble)
Our defenses consist of 3 battalions of light infantry, 34
pieces of field artillery, 108 armored vehicles and 42
aerial vehicles.
(Alien babble)
We have 38 ICBM's always on alert and ready to fire when
the word is passed down from the White House.
(Alien babble)
The codes to activate the launch sequences are...are...
uhhngh... no... I can't let you... uggh... get out of my mind!
(Alien babble)
Agggh! The c-codes... are... ugh.... no... I can't betray... AGH!
My head! I can't... won't... AGGGGH! Agggh...
The war itself wasn't important. Who shot first isn't important. At the end of the day humans just did what they always do, go to war for what in the end are trivial reasons when it ends in mutual destruction. A major theme of the series is that humans go to war because they just do. To suggest that it was really an outside influence not only undermines the war itself but also the series as a whole. It was a similar problem I had in Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age 2 Spoilers:
Spoiler:
At the end it turns out the big bad wasn't just a religious fundamentalist that took her duty to far. She actually had an evil sword that made her crazy. She worked well as a villain before that reveal and the evil sword corrupting her mind reveal just undermined the whole character.
Then again the gear is pretty awesome. I mean I use Energy Weapons in 3 and that alien rifle kicks ass. So I will play through it for that.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

I had forgotten that Bethesda implied that Aliens started the Nuclear war. THAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE! It's bloody Fallout! I refuse to adknowledge Zeta as cannon. Aliens only belong in Fallout as easter eggs. Nothing more. Not as the bloody things that caused the Great War. As for DA2, EA forced Bioware to have two final bosses instead of having a boss that matches the half arsed plot. :hate:

like i said, seeing as most people didnt enjoy it, Bethesda probably wont make MZ Canon.

despite this, i enjoyed it. the people you meet were the best and thats what i was looking forward to the most when i got it. a samurai, cowboy, wimpy soldier, slaver, and a little girl working together with the Lone Wanderer to save the world. i just liked the simple idea. :P

plus im one of the people who actually liked Fallout 3s original storyline, i agree that Broken Steel just clogged up the story. i thought ending it with a death (either yours or Lyons) was the best way for it to go. i suppose it could have explained why your radiation immune followers couldnt do it for you :P. but when i first played the game, i never brought a follower with me other than dogmeat, so i never noticed at the time.

and i also just cannot understand what people have against Operation Anchorage. honestly, i have no idea.

The fact I disliked most about FO3s storyline was that EVERY LAST BIT of it was a ripoff of either FO1 or FO2s plot.
Clean water as a key element of the plot? Seen that in FO1. Super Mutants kidnapping and turning wastelanders? Seen that in FO1.
The Brotherhood as last chance of humanity? Seen that in FO1 too. The Enclave appearing out of nowhere and killing/enslaving everyone and everything? FO2, anyone?
It's so derivative it's almost a bit insulting.

"I CAN FORGE PLANES WITH MY POWER! I CAN UNMAKE YOU!"
"SO YOU HAVE COME. THEN YOU SHALL DIE AGAIN."

Fallout 3's plot was average at best but it hindered the roleplaying aspect as you are always forced to play as 19 year old looking for their father. The wasteland itself didn't feel like it was 200 years after the war. :(

as i have also said before, unlike most folks, i've never been bothered by a lack of choice in games. i suppose that would make it strange that i chose to play an RPG. but see its not that i dont like choice, its good to have it. but if its not there, i dont really care as long as it tells a good story. and i thought it did. though i suppose thats what RPGs are made for, so it doesnt really matter what i think.

plus i'd say it did a pretty decent job of portraying the Capital Wasteland 200 years after. maybe not the city of DC itself (which would probably be flattened :P ) but the wasteland yes. the fact that it had had the Vault 87 Super Mutants wandering around it for at least 150 years killing and turning everything who were only driven back about 20 years ago helps it make a bit more sense, i think.

It probably would have been better off as a prequel. It's been 200 years and people aren't even farming yet. There's no farms around Megaton. No other food sources either. Apparently nobody's even checked out the supermarket down the street either directly after the war or in the last 200 years. So what do they eat?

again, it could be the super mutants. they were everywhere and stopped humans from advancing, they usually ate humans as well, so that could explain why they wouldnt go looking for it.

also, the Super-Duper-Mart close to megaton was inhabited by raiders, and most of the food was stocked up in the kitchen area in the back. so it could be assumed that the food there had been stocked up by the raiders themselves, which i would say isnt too far fetched.

there is actually one place in the game where they mention attempting to farm (its an old abandoned farm somewhere near canterburry commons) on a Terminal. the terminal also mentions these same people getting wiped out by raiders.

so basicly, no one farmed because they were either too stupid, or were attacked and killed by people who were too stupid. however, i could agree that there being no farms whatsoever, even around Brotherhood Areas or safe zones, is a little bit strange.

Oh, so the super mutants just eat the humans. Sure must be a lot of humans wandering into the DC ruins if that is what Super Mutants eat. I mean look at how many Super Mutants there are. But what do those humans eat? You can't eat humans if they starve to death. And I imagine a behemoth has to eat a lot of food seeing as it is so big.

So the same raiders have been in the same supermarket and sustained the same food for 200 years? I would think that people would have picked the shelves of such a big supermarket clean within a day like what happens to Supermarkets in lots of disasters.

i know, i forgot to add something to the super mutant thing, sorry. i was going to say *but this is doubtful* :P
Humans eat Brahmin, Brahmin eat any crap that comes out the floor, like all of that yellow grass.
and super mutants kidnap humans? im not saying their whole diet is based on humans, but a human wouldnt have to wander in to be eaten, they could capture them, and eat them later, rotten or not.

i never said the raiders had been there for 200 years, my point was that they had taken it as a base for them, and stockpiled food there gathered from different sources. they found food in other places and put it there. but im not saying they were always there, they could have settled in it a month ago, or a week ago, or anything.

Your hopes are dead in the water.

Fallout 3's story amounted to just that - a complex and weird hybrid between many of the former Fallout games from leaving your Vault home to find something (arguably Fallout 2 is basically Fallout 1 just with a different tagline. And this is true, and I look at Chris with a bit of scorn, but they did manage to add a few twerks in. Though, likely, this at fault of Blacklight as a whole than just Chris, as the traditional Chris-morality is very vacant. At least in places other than New Reno), and then when you are close to finding that something or have found it - oh nooooo- the big villains whom have been consciously in the background have decided now it is the time to strike.

Along with the shameless taking from Fallout Tactics (the entire idea of Megaton and a separate sect. of the Brotherhood leaving due to policies on technology and setting themselves out east of them, now they went east-er from Midwest!), unexplained reasoning as to why they are using the Enclave, Super-Mutants and so on when (no matter what they say on this being a 'renewal' of Fallout) it is simply being lazy. Much to how if, for some 20 years after Arena, a different company decided to make Elder Scrolls 3. But instead of making it a new game, focusing entirely on a different people, setting, culture, and having a new story solely attributable to that game alone that has dedicated it's time and effort into creating this new narrative - they just decided to make Arena again. That is Fallout 3, in a nutshell. It is the complete anthesis to KotOR 2 and Morrowind - lacking originality and an interesting narrative.

If it had to take a new company, whom were famous for their stories anyways, to make a new game and add some (at least) partially interesting narrative, and make it to where we have old faces but they're in a new form. I still disagree with how the NRC was not portrayed enough like how Obsidian was making it. In this - look at KotOR 2's Republic. A decayed, bloated, and nearly destroyed Republic that barely survived the Jedi Civil War. Continuing on it's lows as this New Sith presence, that has decided to fight a new war, a war of ideas and a war of shadows against the Republic and what remains of the Jedi. This was the intent of their narrative. How it was done was just a show-and-maybe-tell. We were not really shown how the NCR was failing, yet the entire plot and premise of KotOR 2 was showing you in planets just how the Republic was failing. The halt of Restoration Project's, not able to properly secure borders, literal rebellions against Republic rule, and planets whom have a little-to-none-what-so-ever Republic presence (Dantooine) and just how large the war was (Refugee Sector(s) of Nar Shadda). Given this - we know how the Republic was failing yet we can only hear just how the NCR is failing. If I was to reject hearsay, the NCR is doing great. They're expanding and having some milestones that face expansionism, but will eventually hurdle over them. Because it seems stable, and there is no real danger to them, internally. Externaly, Caesar's Legion will fall because it is very much based like the Sith. Infighting will happen when the leader dies, and the new one is not even as charismatic as the previous one. More brutal, yet that is how it will end. Brutally.

From Fallout: NV (and all the cut content, though I was loath to play the DLCs when they just kept pouring them out, though I did see some Chris writing in there with Uly) and Fallout 3 - I have the worst expectations for Fallout IV. Why? Because then the reality of Fallout IV won't be that bad as Oblivion or Skyrim, which are grotesque on a literature level.

I'm more optimistic for Fallout 4. Though I suppose you could say optimism is the first step to disappointment. I really like Fallout 3, the game has problems (poor story and setting details that don't really make sense) but still at the end of the day it is really good. There are plenty of bad games in the world and Fallout 3 isn't one of them. Skyrim (while not quite as good as Morrowind) was better than Oblivon (not that Oblivion was bad.) While I probably won't end up liking Fallout 4 as much as New Vegas I still think it will be better than 3.

As a big fan of Fallout 3, I'm looking forward to Fallout 4. I'm hoping Obisidan is left out of this one, as i preferred Bethesda's way of doing things.

i just hope it isn't set on the west coast.
