This here is a thread to discuss gardening! I know some gardening is discussed in the Food Thread, but I felt a dedicated thread to cover all aspects was warranted. Also, I suppose, one could discuss any "green" happenings/activities of their own, regardless of whether they involve planting something.
So I'm eagerly awaiting spring for MANY reasons, but in particular so I can start planting! I have a bit of a collection of garden plants going already(I stick almost exclusively to perennials), but I'm eager to add a few more. I also want to see whether our burning bush, which had to be moved last year for septic installation has survived this winter, as it was doing less than well all summer. I've also been thinking about growing some food crops for the first time, though the only one I know I want to grow, at the moment, is bok choy. Has anyone here grown that before? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I should plant?(and don't say taters )
Gardens! I am going to plant some flowers and a small vegetable garden once the yard is ready here. I'm so very excited. I actually think I have too many seeds - someone was a little overzealous and filled a shoebox full of packets, on top of getting me several bags and some planter kits. I'm going to attempt to look through them next week and see which ones need to get started inside and think about giving it a go. I actually am not sure where to start, since we're fixing the grading on the yard and then adding a deck: so I don't want to plant until it's all ready. And the yard still needs to be fertilized anyhow. The house was finished in the autumn, which is the worst time to plant out here, so we've got to get everything into shape before we can make it beautiful.
I really have way too many seeds, though. I was thinking of getting a few started and maybe passing off a few pots to the neighbors when they're sprouted enough. Or maybe I can get the neighborhood kids involved.

I grow one every year. This year I'm just planting tomatos, squash, and maybe a little okra. Usually I plant a lot more, but I get tired of giving away stuff to my neighbors. I know, I know, a 17 year old that gardens? Don't see many of those, unless you live where I do
As a carnivore, I am appalled at the lack of rabbits in your gardens. Where's a guy supposed to get a decent lunch around here, huh? No one ever thinks about me. :'(
With all the snow we're getting, I wonder if I'll ever be able to get into the garden. All it does is snow. Every. Single. Day. Arggggh.

Same as Avron here - we've missed the snows luckily but it's still too cold for the old snow to finally melt
Objective #1 for me is to start composting outside. Will of course grow the obligatory tomatoes (and there are lots of feral cherry tomatoes that grow from past plantings), not sure what/if anything else. I'd like to grow tobacco too but going to wait until I move - maybe in the late summer

My father in-law started his tomatoes in his greenhouse already. He has the hook up with it connected to the house. We'll be starting our garden mix and herbs from seeds within the next two weeks and will hopefully be able to break ground in mid to late May. We have a ton of snow too. I'm not sure what else to grow in our garden this year. Definitely some marigolds and wildflowers.
I know we have to start the lilac inside, so I was thinking of trying that with the other bulbs as well. In any case, we might have to. Our yard is still really new and isn't properly set up for real gardening. They're going to fix the grading in the back and we're adding a deck, and while my better half thinks this won't bother any of my gardening efforts, I'd rather wait for things to be done to start properly. But the front yard could use some weeding and a little color in the forum of some pretty flowers!

Our crocuses and hyacinths are blooming, and the hellebore's been blooming for about a month because it's weird. Hopefully the forsythia will bloom soon.
