Re: Lore General Discussion!
I was so upset over that Canadian bacon incident that I died for two years, but I'm back. Why the hell are some of my threads still on the first two pages? This place is deeeead. So let's give life back to music.
So, let's start with the "big announcement." It's [&@%!]. Not even a title. Was ...

Re: Lore: Origins and Appearance of Races
There's no lore justification for making Nedes look primitive. Lamae Bal appears in ESO and she's indistinguishable from a Breton or Imperial.
I apologise for this arrogant decision: I try to refrain from referring to ESO whenever possible, especially the "artwork" My friends who consider ...

Using Uriel Septim as an example of typical aging patterns is a tad dishonest since he spent over a decade in Oblivion and is said to have emerged old and bitter.

Re: Draugr Origins etc.
Worth noting that the Skaal believe that the draugr of Solstheim were an ancient tribe that shared the island, until they were cursed to undeath by the All-Maker for committing cannibalism. Who knows how true that is, considering the Dragon Cult had a heavy presence on the island.

I don't see that interpretation when I read it. I see that they think they're doing the Falmer a favor by blinding and twisting them. They seem to believe this is some sort of ascension.
My own theory is that whatever they were doing to the Falmer never got properly completed, because Kagrenac ...

We pretty much knew what it said already, but Kurt's translation is a lot cleaner and more thorough than the fanslations that have been floating around. It reveals some poetic nuance in Old Dwemeris.Imbalance wrote:I think that's basically how we expected it was supposed to read.

Re: PAX West!
That's a massive shame. :( Would have thought Bethesda would send a lore panel due to TES having excellent lore and people being interested in it.
I suspect the audience for a lore-only panel is a bit more niche than you're assuming. If they expanded that to "story-telling and quest design" it ...

Calcelmo's Stone official translation
We finally know the full translation, thanks to Kurt Kuhlmann.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm genuinely curious - does anyone who has 900+ hours in this game still enjoy it as much as when they first bought it? The magic goes away after a while even with the best games, especially when you overplay them, but this one seemed to age very badly for my personal tastes. It took over a year ...

Aren't a lot of the games in the OP still in print? I could have sworn I saw Mousetrap just the other day. Full transparency, though. I'm increasingly deranged, so "just the other day" could be at any point over the past 30ish years.

By God, I got mad the other day. I bought a burger from the little self serve kiosk at work under the premise it was a "bacon addicts burger". I get it microwaved and what do I find? Communist false roundbacon. I weep for our future.

Re: Two questions about conjured weapons.
I actually prefer the bound weapons, because it's way too easy to break the difficulty of this game with Smithing if you play vanilla. It gets boringly easy, even if you turn up the difficulty, especially if you also boost your One-Handed skill with Enchantments.

If the Hobbit movies had never been made, I would be excited about this. Now, it would simply deepen my disgust for the direction TES is going in as a brand.

Re: TES Legends - did it drop the ball?
Well, yeah. I liked most of what I saw, especially in that there were branching quest lines. Meaningful choices existed that (I presume) affect the ending and how certain quests unfold.
That's something that wasn't nearly common enough in Skyrim, to be honest. There are several glaring examples in ...

Do they just straight up use a Gate, like the ones in TES IV?
I mean, some of this is semi-excusable because it's a third party game, but compared to the ESO writing team, these guys clearly didn't do as much of their homework. They're trying to lift and carry something bigger than themselves.

Re: Personal/Character motivations for/against factions etc.
On the subject of the Concordant, I always found it really odd that there's no quest associated with making Heimskr disappear, except for a DB contract. It's logical to assume the Thalmor are behind that, but why work through the Brotherhood when they have every legal right to simply apprehend him ...

It's stupidity on the mod designer's part to design a mod that was more challenging than hack-n-slash and with enemies and dungeons who need a little bit of strategy? Am I following this complaint right?

Er, yeah...the War still ends pretty much the same way in Legends as it did in the background lore for "Skyrim". It's just the whole Naarifim thing was expanded, and not necessarily in a good direction.

I think it's the number of houses. Solitude feels pretty big, but everywhere else does seem small for whatever reason.
Agreed. Riften seems decently sized, too. But Winterhold? Forget about it. I don't even know where the handful of people there live. In the inn, maybe?

I just wouldn't. It's not needed. It can't live up to the integrity of the brand in any way, shape or form. I strongly feel that most mobile games are cancerous for gaming to begin with, because the people who perform the highest on those games are those who are willing to fork over the most cash ...

TES Legends - did it drop the ball?
I haven't played TES Legends yet myself. I watched a youtube video of the first 19 chapters, which gives me a decent idea of what the story is about. One member of the lore community, the author of "How to Become a Lore Buff", really didn't like it at all. This thread on Reddit spurred some heated ...
