So, this greater power: Shadowcloak of Nocturnal... Obtained by finishing thieves guild quest line

SHADOWCLOAK OF NOCTURNAL
For 120 seconds you automatically become invisible while sneaking.

I dont get it, I have used it a couple times already and they have had mixed results.
