My Bravil House isn't... mine?
My Bravil House isn't... mine?
I mean, come on. I finally came to terms with the town of Bravil. Sure. It's worn down. But if you look at it from a different perspective, it's really quite a nice town. (I'm still coping with City-Swimmer's death... D:) Having a fence above the Bravil house is useful as well.
You don't have to worry about a huge price like Skingrad: expensive for me, as I'm only level 6 right now. You don't have to worry about living in some ugly house next to a rich snob in Leyawin. You don't even have to worry about some haunted manor in Anvil; I really just don't like the place, anyway. And, there's no way I'm going to live on the Waterfront. After finally deciding that the cozy place over the canal was suitable for my Khajiit, I went and bought the house. 4000 gold. Perhaps it's not worth that much, but I just figured, what the heck.
But what is up with that stupid trespassing sign on my own house?! I'm pretty sure it can be corrected for PC users, but as I'm on Xbox360, things don't look high for me. The house will never feel like my own with that trespassing sign on my door. :| So just after I finally accepted the town, it fell right back to where it was in my eyes.
Come on, Bethesda. How many more mistakes can you possibly make in a single game? Looks like I'm gonna go hike up north and live with those annoying Nords in Bruma. J'raddir (my Khajiit) is not happy.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
The wiki says that you will NOT be arrested for entering the house, and you fully own the interior. So it is still technically yours; minus the trespass glitch. It can still be used to store goods and be used as a regular house, minus sleeping. However, I understand it's a rather bothersome glitch, so a different house may be a good idea.

True. Bruma's house initially costs 10,000 gold. And that's without upgrades. But I'm not looking for something huge. I'm looking for something cozy. Bruma, Bravil, and Leyawiin seem to come to mind. The Waterfront is just too small. The Countess of Leyawiin doesn't seem to look highly on beast-races, and living next to a nice house just to see I'm living in the piece of trash next to it is disturbing.
Maybe I'll just go live in the Marie Elena. XD Hahaha...
And I know I won't be arrested for entering the house, but even though it's mine, it is still bothersome. It may be mine, but it doesn't feel like it's mine. And if I'm not happy, I don't want it.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Let's all applaud Bethesda again, for their wonderful work.
My thoughts exactly. WAY too many mistakes in the Vanilla game. Of course, easy for me to rant on PC, cause I don't have those issues. How can they even screw something like that up. Didn't they test the game before throwing it on the market half-baked?Come on, Bethesda. How many more mistakes can you possibly make in a single game?

Something just came to mind, you could always do the, "Where Spirits have Lease" quest. Just 5k with no pesky upgrades to worry about. Just a minor curse....And maybe a ghost or two with a lich.Keizuru wrote:True. Bruma's house initially costs 10,000 gold. And that's without upgrades. But I'm not looking for something huge. But it's a good house, and quite nice to own when the quest is completed.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Indeed, MattHunX. I'm so irritated with all the mistakes on the Xbox360 version, that I'm about ready to go buy it for the PC. The amount of errors are ridiculous, and I don't know how many times I've restarted because something screwed up that I wasn't ready for.
FireAcolyte, as I've said before, I'm looking for something small and cozy. ;) And the manor in Anvil is a little too large, and... not cozy, for my tastes. Thanks for the advice, though.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Rosethorn hall is the same!
If u try to enter it using the door at the top it counts as trespassing and u can get a fine!
Chorrol is a nice place!
Nice peaceful people...
Warm house...
Not too big!
Quite expensive but u can just do the dorian money glitch to get your hands full of gold!
MWUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Er...
First of all, Rosethorn Hall is the last of my concerns, but that sounds simply stupid. You can even get a fine? Ridiculous. Bethesda, you fail.
I've had Chorrol's house, but it seems... tight. Weird. I don't know. I don't like it. Too big for what I'm going for anyway. And by the way, does Earana count as peaceful? ;)
Dorian's glitch failed for me for whatever reason. Besides, even if it does work, I wouldn't use it. What fun would the game be if you exploited the glitch like that anyway?

the dorian glitch was fixed in a very early patchKeizuru wrote:Er...

she hangs out in the grey mare most of the time so I dont see her often...
And I do agree about the abstract qualities of chorrols house.
But rosethorn hall is goo I guess!
Since when do u enter the house through the second story door anyway?
It has a secret mision aswell!very large and decoritive good for showing of ur stuff but there are very minor glitches that occure infrequently with the display cases!
GOTY has shiverin isles and KoTN

Regardless, my Khajiit will not be living in Skingrad, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, or Anvil. I'm going small. I just need to choose which one. I'm really intent on the Bravil house, but still... stupid glitch. So irritating.
@ FireAcolyte - I'm thinking you read that wrong, but I know what you're saying. I meant, "was the patch included in the GOTY version," but you just answered that.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Well, the glitch was patched early, if it works with you, then maybe your copy didn't take full effect of it, or the patch didn't upload, or I don't know.
Now what about Leyawiin? Wiki says it's only slightly larger than the Bravil house, but in total it would cost 14k for the house and upgrades. But it's not that big.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Well, I do not have Xbox Live. I don't get patches and updates. Never got any for Oblivion, respectively.
About Leyawiin, I refuse to live next to the rich Rosentia Gallenus. Makes the house look like trash. And... well... it is.

Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
GO TO THE WATERFRONT ALREADY!
Re: My Bravil House isn't... mine?
Haha, never liked the Waterfront. <_< Besides, what's the point in buying that place when I can use the Marie Elena a couple seconds away from it? Well, I can only use Captain Tussaud's chest, but still, it's ideal.

theres a "dumpster" outside the waterfront house! it has 4 containers and a bookcaseKeizuru wrote:Haha, never liked the Waterfront. <_< Besides, what's the point in buying that place when I can use the Marie Elena a couple seconds away from it?
