game classes vs. custom classes

Post by Eladin »

Am I the only one who has NEVER picked a class that the game offers, and opt to custom create one? I am constantly amused at the beginning of the game when Baurus suggests your class. I feel like laughing and telling him to stop guessing classes and sticking to his day job, but he would slag me, so I stay quite.

I think the only ones I've ever picked with any kind of frequency are Mage and Spellsword. Even then, though, I agree, it's usually a lot better to create a class. The mind boggles at just how many classes(both player classes and the hidden NPC classes) have Speechcraft, which to my mind is useless and takes WAY too much effort to train, ESPECIALLY considering its uselessness.

lol, speechcraft is usually used for roleplaying. when i make a merchant, thief, assassin, whatever, i usually choose that skill to add to the realism.
Anyway, the only pre-made classes i've ever used are Warrior, Mage, and Thief.(i've created some stealing the pre-made classes names too, but that doesn't count  )

I played as an Agent once. It was actually a good game, and got me used to the magic system which, up to that point, I'd never used. I was roleplaying a Shadowscale, and felt Agent's description fit the way I planned on playing my character to a T. It also had a pretty good skill set for how I wanted to play. The one time Baurus was actually paying attention.

In Oblivion I have never chosen a premade class, no. I never find one quite the way I want it, but often I just need to change one or two skills.
If the vikings didnt do it, it aint worth doing!

I was in a witch hunter rut at first, but with the past 5 characters, I have created a "Jester" class....Ironicly, speechcraft is NOT a major skill of the Jester class..haha!

I have a Khajiit Agent, and Speechcraft suits me just fine.
I love the speechcraft system, i dont see why people hate it.

If i create Custom classes, it's because the custom class suits my gameplay better, or because of Roleplaying reasons.
Doin my own, thang, and if you got a problem with that
Then the nina go bang, bang, and I'll be everywhere on the map - but
I rep that West
