Modifying the .ini

Post by linda »

On the page that talks about modyfying the .ini file there is this warning:

"Warning! Make a copy of your Oblivion.ini before you make any changes. Changes in the Oblivion.ini can damage your game or even may damage your system. The risk is yours. It is safe to leave the original values in the INI file, just place a ";" sign at the beginning of the line, and the game will not use it. You can put the modified line below that line. If the Oblivion.ini file is screwed up totally, you can delete it, the game will create a new one at starting the program."

How could it possibly "damage my system?"

Physically - doubtful. But take so many resources that whole system will crash, or lock up the gfx card in such a state that you can't get back to windows (say, black screen, nothing else) very likely. Button-reset, scandisk, fixed.
There once was a Prince named Mehrunes
Whose buttocks sounded sonorous tunes
‘Twas an odiferous song
People sang before long
They had enough of his full crescent moons.
