What Type of Online Gamer Are You?
(I put the options here because they're kinda long)
1. The one who can be found screaming, yelling, and shouting at the end of every win or loss. Swearing, typing/saying nonsense, insulting others, calling them n00bs, etc... Usually a medium leveled. Eventually will get banned.
2. The silent-winner. The one who never talks but always wins and has an EXTREMELY high level and you wonder how they got that without ever talking. They always win. Always. Even if they lose, they win. Always. Occasionally they will say "owned" or "noob" after a win. Never in 1337, though.
3. The hanging out metro high level guy. Your an extremely high level, and your wearing some kind of expensive decorative armor/equipment. Your probably standing in the city for hours on-end making internet gf's and bf's and you make silly jokes with other high leveled players when in reality you're actually a lonely fatass getting his mouse dirty with Doritos fingerprints. You can be this player without the last part.
4. The lovable newbie. You're new, but everyone likes you. The mods, the players, the people in general. You fit in well and do good for a newbie. You become the best of friends with an experienced player.
5. The stupid new guy n00b. You pester a high-leveled player on where the logout button is or how to equip something, or something else stupid. You most probably wear a full set of mis-matched n00b armor, and you always lose. Always.
6. The wannabe mod. The one who always abides by the rules, tries to help out every other noob, and acts all professional hoping to become an in-game moderator.
7. "I don't play online games" for all the people who said that, one word: KoL....?

Option number 7: The silent average player who rarely talks to other players and is reasonablebly skilled, but easily defeated using somekind of advanced move or tactic.
Eventually turns into option number 8: The highly skilled and very experienced player who helps newbs and punishes noobs like an online games should.
Both of the above.

I went with 4, but only because I'm awesome at most FPS games I play. I start off kinda slow, but once I get going, everyone on the server either loves me or hates me. They love me when I'm on their team, and hate me when they're against me. And even then, they still like me. They're just afraid of me.
So yeah, I'm the lovable new guy. I'll join a server if it's my first time playing, ask a bunch of noob questions, and then rape the other team with my pistol. 'cause that's how I roll.

I don't think you're that "new" if you already have a reputation.
I went with 4 because I was basically "adopted" by higher-ranked players and raised until I could stand on my own. Which didn't happen often, because most games got old before that happened.
F.E.A.R. multiplayer would be the only exception. There, I am choice #2. Mainly because I can't figure out how to type and play at the same time. It is really hard to type while you're aiming at someone. Or getting harrased by a little psychic girl in a red dress who likes melting people.

Ohhhh, shhh, shhhh! No spoilers for the game! Especially not a game as boss as F.E.A.R. I still can't go down ladders or crawl in air vents without crapping myself in terror.Vesna wrote: so I says to mable, dance with me!

Well yeah, but maybe not everyone has played it yet. Everyone SHOULD play it, mind you, but if we've got folks here who never even played Fallout (gasp! shock!) there's bound to be FEARless wonders who've never experienced the singular joys of firing wildly at crabwalking ghost girls.Vesna wrote:Sorry. I edited it. It's fine now.
Although I thought the game was pretty old now. They even have 2 expansions and a 3rd in development.
My brother, as much as he loves Half-Life, hates FEAR. Once he got so scared, he started screaming.
But yeah, they give a new definition of a horror game. Games like Doom 3 just basically shoved bloody monsters in your face.
Love the slo-mo too. I find myself in an Oblivion gate, clicking on the Ctrl key and wondering where the slo-mo went.

The best part? The absurdly accurate enemy AI. Those suckers are BRUTAL, even on low difficulty levels. It's like, normal FPS: walk into a room, lay down a withering field of fire, twenty guys firing at you and every single one of them missing at point blank range. FEAR: poke your head around a corner, BAM! Three headshots, right between your eyes. Reload and try again, using slomo this time.
It's sort of like Battlefield, where you don't feel like this ubersoldier who just plows through everything. You actually have to use your head to survive in firefights... which is hard, especially when at any moment the lights might go off and the room might start filling with blood and the ghostly wailing of newborn children. It's definitely up there with STALKER as one of the best FPS games in the past five years.

I don't own FEAR but I played it a few times at my friend's house. He has a 5.1 surround sound setup, a big LCD monitor, and an uberwin graphics card (or, at least it was uberwin when FEAR was new), and he insisted I played with the sound off.DorostheConqueror wrote: I still can't go down ladders or crawl in air vents without crapping myself in terror.
I could barely even turn corners without freaking out. I would be like oh [&@%!] oh [&@%!] oh [&@%!] [Shadowy little girl appears and dissolves into dust] AAAAHHHHH! GET IT AWAY FROM ME! I CAN'T MOVE!
I have a low tolerance for these kinds of things.
Help? Help with what? They don't make a cure for stupid. You'll just have to play through the game all over again. - Butterknife

But I think that would be the option most people would choose, and I want you to choose an extreme online clicheDaedra Prince wrote:What about the almost awesome guy who will kick the average people's asses but still be thrashed if someone really good comes along. That's what I'd describe myself as in any of the online games I've played.
I went with option 1 because....
Z0MG I 0wNED U N00B LOL LMFAO HAHAHAH U SUCK LOL N))B!!!!!!
or...
Z0MG FU N00B U CHEATING HACORZ I WILL REPORT U!!!!! 2 seconds later: REPORTED LMFAO THEY BAN J00!!! REPORTED!!!!
Seeing as FFXI is the only game I play online, and the PvP in that game is a f'ing joke, I'd have to pick option 10.
10. Generally a nice person, more than willing to help out a friend, or just some random stranger, be it with quests, loaning gear (good friends/family only), helping camp mobs for items, etc... but if you do something to [&@%!] me off, I'll hold a grudge forEVER! There are people on my server that I wouldn't [&@%!] on if they were on fire, unless I'm [&@%!] gasoline. They did something to [&@%!] me off, and I'll never forget it.
