Elder Scrolls V pre production
I was wondering if we knew anything about Skyrim before it was Skyrim ? Like we know Morrowind was supposed to be in Summerset and called Tribunal. Was there anything like that for Skyrim ? I think I heard Todd wanted the game to be set in High Rock is this true ?

Never heard anything like that. Oblivion on PSP was supposed to be set in High Rock. Rumours of TES V being set in Skyrim were around a little while before the official announcement.

Re: Elder Scrolls V pre production
afaik the very first things Beth discussed about TES5 were that they wanted the theme to be 'gritty' and to have a level of 'familiarity' for a lot of people. (So not as 'colorful generic fantasy' as Oblivion and not as 'alien' as Morrowind.)
And they went straight from 'gritty + familiar' to 'Vikings' and then Skyrim.
I think 'big honkin' dragons' and the 'magic voice from Dune' might have been floated as design ideas pretty early on but I'm not sure.
So yeah, TES5 was Skyrim from pretty much Day One. (afaik)

Apathy is on the rise, but no-one cares.
