Favourite Loremaster's Archive

Post by legoless »

Since the Loremaster's Archive will be put on 'hiatus' after the next instalment, it seems like an appropriate time to reflect on the series. Thirty-seven articles in just over thirteen months has left us with a couple gems, but nothing can top this bombshell:
Haskill wrote: I am a Vestige, all that remains of a mortal from your world who 'mantled' Sheogorath during an event in a previous time. As a fragment, my memory of the event is … fragmentary. I am hazy on the entire concept of 'mantling,' but it had something to do with Lord Sheogorath, myself, and this Jyggalag of whom you speak.
The Drake of Blades was also a pretty excellent interviewee, smuggling correspondence out of the city.
The Drake of Blades wrote:Worm Cult. Heh. Thought they were going to run things. After. Sorry now, I bet. The ones who are left. Doing drudge work for the Daedra. Might as well be Soul-Shriven.
The University? Plundered. Partly. Some things—some of the best things—we helped take those away. To safe places. Very deep, very safe places.
Haven't seen the Worm King. You know—Mannimarco. Not lately. And when the Big Chains came down, the Tharns? Went on holiday. Somewhere. Good riddance."
And, of course, my proudest moment <3:
Lyranth the Foolkiller wrote:I answer, forced by the vexatious constraints of your vulgar conjuration, Legoless, but rest assured that your name shall be duly entered in my Oghma of Inevitable Retribution. Foolkiller, Deathbringer, even Dremora are but arena-terms, nicknames for use when trafficking with mortals; the real, protracted tribunymics of the Kyn are never spoken, never revealed, lest they be used as weapons against us. And no mortal has yet contrived a spell strong enough to force us to disclose them.

Sheogorath's is my favourite as well. It's "proof" that the CoC mantled Sheogorath temporarily and that The Greymarch still happens.
It also poses the question....did Haskill mount Sheo at some point? How about Arden-Sul?

Well, by definition Haskill is the shell of a previous Sheogorath. I'd even go so far as to say that the Haskill we meet in Oblivion has a high chance of being what remains of Arden-Sul. There's a topic on it here if you're interested.
