Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
For starters, can Cliff Racers catch Corprus? And, if so, wouldn't (after a significant period of time) they become almost dragon like in strength and endurance? And, if so, couldn't a powerful mage enchant them to breath fire?
(And yes, I like silly hypothetical questions)

If I recall other beasts caught blight and became more dangerous, but corpus seems only to target mortals. Even then how they mutate over time is largely untouched, but I suspect more advance subjects are formed at the aid of Dagoth. As per the fire I was under the impressian you could only enchant objects, never a living being that already has a soul.
What would be really cool is a dragon with corpus.. breathin a blight of smoke, that certainly out ranks any cliffracer monster huh?

I can't speak as to whether non-mortals could contract corpus, but interestingly enough, living objects do seem to be able to be enchanted.BetaB17 wrote:If I recall other beasts caught blight and became more dangerous, but corpus seems only to target mortals. Kornalus in Harmugstahl seems to have been able to enchant spiders with fire effects.

Re: Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
Can vampires catch Corprus? (They have a form of immortality, don't they?) So if vampires can get Corprus then a dragon should be able to catch it to.
This book says dragons are "unchanging", so even if they could get infected, and got infected, they might not really change. (Counter-point: Durnehviir appears to have been changed by the ideal masters and his time in the soul cairn (becoming slimy, fading if left out to long, etc.,), so it may not be beyond the realm of possibility that a daedric power (like the heart of Lorkhan and Corprus) could change a dragon.)

Aren't vampires and lycans immune to all diseases? Durnehviir's undeath was originally willing (he just didn't expect to be enthralled along with being turned undead).

Kind of; there are two sections, Gameplay mechanic and Lore. Right now the (probably) more important one is Lore, so I'll focus on that.MidbossVyers wrote:Aren't vampires and lycans immune to all diseases?
Lore-wise Vampires are immune to disease, but Corprus isn't a run-of-the-mill disease, in fact it may be closer to a blessing. So it might be able to affect dragons, and vampires, or other immortal things.
I just brought it up because There Be Dragons says that dragons are "unchanging" and, if that were the case, then my (and Beta's) hypothesis could be thrown out the window. Durnehviir proves that dragons can change, and can be affected by Daedric-like powers (although we already know dragons can be effected by Aedric powersMidbossVyers wrote:Durnehviir's undeath was originally willing (he just didn't expect to be enthralled along with being turned undead).

All common diseases. Corprus is something else entirely.MidbossVyers wrote:Aren't vampires and lycans immune to all diseases?
I don't see the reasoning there. Corprus targets mortals in an attempt to transform them into Ascended Sleepers, but without the help of the Sixth House the disease simply destroys and deforms the immortal body like a cancer. Nothing to do with dragons.MetaCthulhu wrote:So if vampires can get Corprus then a dragon should be able to catch it to.
You should definitely read this book if you haven't already.MetaCthulhu wrote:Durnehviir proves that dragons can change, and can be affected by Daedric-like powers (although we already know dragons can be effected by Aedric powers).

Hidden:
Can Dragons contract Corprus? Signs point to yes.
Can Cliff Racers Contract Corprus? In an overall sense it seems quite possible, especially considering they can catch other blight diseases.
Is this all correct, or am I missing something that is rather important?

Re: Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
Nothing suggests dragons can catch corprus. Their immortality stems from being "closer to the Aedra", i.e. demigods living outside of Time. Vampires are immortal because they're undead. We've seen dragons corrupted by undeath and Daedric magic, true, but corprus targets man and elf.
Cliff racers are just beasts, and nothing suggests beasts can catch corprus either. Blight is a different disease entirely - it's used as a weapon of pestilence by Dagoth Ur, rather than a blessing.
That's not to say the Heart of Lorkhan couldn't be used to deform these creatures if that was the Sixth House's desire. But it simply wasn't. Dragons hadn't been seen in Morrowind for who knows how long, and cliff racers are just vermin.

Re: Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
Really? I thought Corprus was technically a type of blight disease (I should probably pay more attention to in-game dialoguelegoless wrote:Blight is a different disease entirely - it's used as a weapon of pestilence by Dagoth Ur, rather than a blessing.
So wait... Could (and I know there is no evidence for it and nothing suggests it lore-wise) Sotha-Sil have used his share of power from the Heart of Lorkhan to modify and strengthen a dragon (Ahbiilok for instance)?legoless wrote: That's not to say the Heart of Lorkhan couldn't be used to deform these creatures if that was the Sixth House's desire. And if so, would the changes he made wear off after the Heart of Lorkhan was destroyed?

Re: Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
It's more like "the blight" is a lesser manifestation of Corprus, that doesn't result in the same type of divine flesh mutations.
There was apparently a Dragon named Ahbiilok hiding on Vvardenfell since the Dragon War, but he was very well-hidden indeed. The book in which he teaches advanced Enchanting to the Pyromancer doesn't mention he suffered from blight of any kind, but it's possible he simply never was exposed to it. He could have been hiding in an underwater grotto for all we know.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Can Cliff Racers Catch Corprus? (Plus other Corollaries)
As previously clarified, the OP was asking about Corprus, not the Blight. Related but distinct phenomenon. Not all beings who contract Blight get full blown Corprus. That's a particularly potent and guided form of it.
