Skyrim:Glitched edition

Post by The Dread Lord »

Hi. I have a copy of skyrim legendary edition (I think I got it on amazon). I've experienced some problems that I've never had before. If someone could offer some advice on these I'd be very thankful :)

1. I can't exit castle volkihar on the bloodstone chalice quest without the game freezing.

2. My game starts to become unplayable because of constant game breaking glitches. (It's not like I can save every 30 seconds.)

I play on xbox 360 only.
I believe I have all the updates from xbox live.
My xbox is about 3 or 4 years old I think.
I downloaded dawnguard off of xbox live.

I know there's glitches in skyrim but I've never experience so many glitches in such a short amount of time playing (24 hours)

What I'm wondering is what could be causing all these glitches in such a short amount of time playing and how I may get rid of them. I'd even get a new console if that's what it took.

Thank you for any help you can provide :)

Can you start a new game successfully? And if not, are there scratches on the game disk? Is your console having trouble playing any other games?

Thanks for replying.

Yes. I can start a new game successfully.
No.
No. All my other games run smoothly.

I also forgot to mention that I play on my xbox a whole lot more than most and more often. So it might have the wear and tear of an older xbox.

Two things I would recommend:

First, clean your game disc thoroughly but carefully.

Second, install the game onto the 360's hard drive.

Since you aren't noticing any issues with other games, it doesn't really smell like the problem is with the console itself. I play on 360 as well, and something I do before playing is to clear the cache. Can't say if it helps, but it certainly can't hurt.

Thanks. I'll try cleaning it. But what do you mean by installing it onto the hard drive?

You have the option to install Xbox 360 games onto your Xbox's hard drive, assuming you have one. There are a multitude of benefits for doing this:

1. Faster loading times.
2. Quieter game play, as the disc will not spin. When you play a game without that monster going, you will realize just how impossibly loud it is
3. No risk of disc damage. The Xbox has a bit of a reputation for destroying game discs, I've seen them destroy at least three in person.

If you don't have a hard drive on your Xbox, go out and buy one. They are seriously awesome.

Oh. You mean one of those things that looks like a flash drive? Cause I have one of those.

The 360's hard drive looks like this:

This is where it snaps onto the console:

Since installing Skyrim onto my 360's hard drive, I've noticed that the game runs a lot better than when I was playing directly from the game disc. Freezes/lockups aren't completely eliminated, but they're a lot less common now.
