Trial of Vivec..?

Post by Hissien »

I realize the text is not entirely canon, or rather that it has not been explicitly stated as being so, but it has been mentioned by in game texts so I will put a little weight on it. But after reading this, I had a few questions:
1.) If Vivec banished Azura, how is it that we cannot interact with her?
2.) If Azura was fully manifested on Mundus, is that why she behaved so eradically?
3.) Why did having (yes i realize the implications) Vivec's spear placed in her mouth banish her?

This Trial's existence has been substantiated by two things:
Firstly, the pathways to moonshadow are closed to mortals
secondly, I believe it was mentioned in a timeline of sorts but someone please correct me if I am wrong

1) A few years passed between those events and Oblivion, so she had time to heal/regenerate.
2) Probably. Daedra are utterly alien, so you can't expect them to always speak and act human.
3) MUATRA isn't just a spear. It represents a Tower of sorts. It's the ALMSIVI version of Lingam, according to MK. Since MUATRA represents Creation, a concept alien to Daedra, it's possible it has the power to instantly banish one.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Taking a spear in the gob is bound to ruin anyone's day, for sure.

I dare say that when a Daedric Prince "speaks", what is "heard" is dependent upon the recipient's state of mind. Maybe the author/witness took in the words one way while others (and Vivec) understood it in another.

And is not "banishing" a daedra simply casting them out of Mundus and back into Oblivion?

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I don't believe there's ever been any official mention of that roleplay.
