Critical Hit (Headshot, legs etc.) Mod

Post by Haravikk »

Okay, so now that I've finally freed myself of the shackles of the XBox 360 port of Skyrim, I'm finally able to mod the game the way I want; it's been a long time coming, but my gaming PC was badly in need of replacing first.

Anyway, one of the things I'd like to change, or rather add, is the ability to inflict special location-based critical hits such as head-shots for extra damage (particularly with archery), legs to slow or stagger an opponent and so-on.

I've found one promising mod called Locational Damage, however it requires SKSE; none of the other mods I'm interested in require it, so personally I'd rather avoid having to install it if I can. It also sounds like it goes a bit further than I wanted with it too; while installing SKSE would let me add SkyUI to configure the mod, again that seems a bit overkill. I'm not really interested in arm shots to disarm, as I find the disarm shout annoying enough when it's used on me :)

So I'm wondering, are there any other location-based damage mods out there, or any bored modders out there interested in creating a simple one? I might have a go myself if needs must, as I'm a programmer by trade, but if something already exists then I'd much rather be lazy ;)

If it's something available on the Steam Workshop then that's also a plus!

It's very unlikely that you'd be able to have a locational damage mod without SKSE, since the sort of information the mod would require isn't available from the vanilla scripting API (as far as I know). Similar mods in Oblivion also required OBSE.
